12/01/2018 - 7:00pm Great team win today! I'm a…

Great team win today! I'm a bit nervous about Tuesday's game as Northwestern always, always plays us tough, in particular in Evanston. We clear that game and I think there's a great shot we start the season 17-0, with some cupcake non-conference games and some early mostly home games when we continue the Big Ten slate. Go Blue!

11/12/2018 - 3:12pm Program has been around…

Program has been around since 2000 and this appears (via MGoBlue) to be their 7th NCAA tournament appearance.

10/21/2018 - 1:19pm $50 says that MSU's one vote…

$50 says that MSU's one vote on the coaches poll is that tool Dantonio. No other moron would see them as deserving.

05/18/2018 - 5:04pm Totally agree

Was beyond frustrating to see them look at some many good/decent pitches. I'd much rather we go down swinging than what we saw today.

05/18/2018 - 1:13pm Batting Averages

So, I'll fully admit that I've really only watched probably the last half of the season more than  the first but how on earth do we have so many averages in the .400 and .300's?! Just seems that almost no one can make quality contact lately.

05/18/2018 - 12:16pm Beaubien

Nice job getting out of that inning with limited damage but it sure did seem that Beaubien was a bit amped that first inning. Probably to be expected in her first game in the NCAA tourney. Let's settle in and get it going, ladies!

05/17/2018 - 11:50am Bobby Dodd Stadium (Georgia Tech)

I'll say I'm a bit biased as my partner and I are season ticket holders here in Atlanta but I do love the overall experience at Bobby Dodd for Georgia Tech games. Lots of great areas for tailgating, it's a smaller stadium (very similar experience to anyone that's been to Ryan Field) but gets pretty rowdy, and the stadium is right downtown so the views are pretty amazing. If you ever get a chance to pass through Atlanta on a gameday, be sure to check out a game at Bobby Dodd.

04/24/2018 - 1:33pm Early Departures Only

I believe it doesn't mention him because he's a Senior. We're only talking about early entries here.

03/29/2018 - 12:39pm Diag

I love Diag Bar & Grill on Southport. Easily my favorite in Chicago. Duffy's can be fun but also gets a little messy but I bet for the Final Four, that would be a blast.

03/29/2018 - 10:52am Appreciate it!

Thanks! Appreciate that info! You going to be at Brown's on Saturday? There's quite a few of us in town, we might just swing by there.

03/29/2018 - 9:37am Genuine question

I mean this as a genuine question. Obviously, there are quite a few places mentioned in the bar sticky in regards to places to watch a game in NYC but what's wrong if someone is somewhere random and wants to know if someone knows of a great place to watch a game? (aka my comment above about Birmingham). I'm sure they get posted here more than folks would like but I guess I just don't see why they're frowned upon so much.

03/29/2018 - 9:22am This one's a stretch

Totally a stretch here but going to be in luxurious Birmingham, AL for a softball tourney this weekend. I checked the M Bar Finder sticky and didn't see anything but just curious if anyone knows of an M friendly bar in Birmingham and/or just a general good sports bar? Thanks all!

03/21/2018 - 10:04am What was Ibi thinking?

I think I saw someone comment on this shortly after the game but has anyone talked to Ibi Watson? lol He seemed like he thought we still lost or something! He just kind of stood there when the shot went through like nothing happened.

Watching this play still brings the biggest damn smile on my face, 4 days later.  Can't wait til tomorrow!

03/14/2018 - 5:35pm Thanks Mello

My wish from last week was granted! Thanks for putting this together bud! Your “Why Not Us” video still gives me chills.

03/11/2018 - 3:05pm 3rd place game

I'd be curious to know what the decision making was to stop the 3rd place game. If I recall, the NIT still has one. I actually wouldn't mind that coming back.

03/11/2018 - 3:02pm 5 seed

Interesting that we've never been a 5 seed. Surprised by that. I do like both of our records as a 3 or a 4 seed for sure!

03/10/2018 - 5:07pm I don’t disagree

I don’t disagree with any of that but if we get shipped out to Wichita or Dallas and play a localish team like Kansas State or TCU in the second round, I’m gonna be pissed as hell. Totally defeats the purpose of the whole ‘protected seed’ thing.

03/10/2018 - 1:17pm Ends huge losing streak

I think they were saying that UMBC hadn’t beaten Vermont in the last 23 tries and hadn’t won at Vermont in over a decade. Gotta be happy for a team that pulls that off.

03/10/2018 - 12:07pm CBS Update

CBS also updated this morning and moved us up from a 4 to a 3. Playing Bucknell in Dallas, we'd play the winner of Arkansas and Loyola Chicago. Not sure I love playing Arkansas that close to their home. UNC would be the 2 in that region and Xavier would be the 1.  Curious if anyone prefers ESPN or CBS prediction? I'd probably prefer ESPN.

03/10/2018 - 12:04pm If this stuck

I know this likely isn't how it would stick but whew....gotta think Providence would give UNC a run for their money and Missouri / Virginia Tech would be an outstanding first-round matchup.

03/10/2018 - 9:03am Latest ESPN Bracket

We know Joe is a terrible Bracketologist BUT his update this morning...yes please. #3 seed in Dallas playing College of Charleston and then the winner of Florida / Western Kentucky. I’d prefer Detroit but like those match ups!

03/09/2018 - 12:12pm No worries

Not a big deal, was just following those games yesterday. I'm kinda wondering if VCU would have a shot to crack the top 100 if they win the A-10. They're playing tough early and Rhode Island has been slipping as of late.

03/09/2018 - 10:56am VCU and Southern Miss

Perhaps I missed it but Southern Miss also got a HUGE win against Middle Tennessee yesterday. VCU also beat Dayton in a super exciting game. I gotta think them going further in their tourneys only helps our RPI.

12/31/2016 - 2:23pm Another big upset - North Carolina

Georgia Tech also just upset North Carolina here in Atlanta. North Carolina were 17 point favorites in that game. I got some cheap tickets and decided to head to the game, was a fun won and a huge upset for the Yellow Jackets!

12/22/2016 - 5:02pm Crowd

I'll be interested to see what the crowd is like for the game tonight. I'm in town from Atlanta for the holidays and I'm venturing over to the game. When I started looking at tickets on Monday, there were over 700 tickets available on StubHub. It's down to less than 200 tickets on there now. Looking forward to cheering on the Maize and Blue!

12/04/2016 - 2:02pm There too

I was at that game as well. Man, was that an impressive TCU team....whew! Living in Atlanta, I've actually been to the last 3 Peach Bowls. Was fun seeing Houston drop the hammer on FSU last year.

08/30/2016 - 10:01am Yep

Absolutely, very similar. We do work with NetSuite and Azure as well but on a much smaller scale. If you're ever curious to talk more about it, we're employee owned and have a pretty cool model when it comes to our actual structure (do a quick Google search of Holacracy). Feel free to message me offline, if only to connect. Can never have enough connections in the ERP world. [email protected]

08/29/2016 - 3:12pm Recruiter here

Just figured I'd throw this out there as well, as this has really never came up in conversation. I work for partner in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV space as a Recruiter. The company is actually a pretty cool model and is employee-owned, which I'm finding I like a lot, as everyone here is laser-focused on making it the best place to work possible. If there are any Developers, Consultants, and Sales people that have worked with NAV or have other ERP experience, feel free to hit me up sometime. I'd love to have more MGoFolks working here! All positions are virtual as well!

02/01/2015 - 4:06pm My bad

Only my 2nd post here, kinda new to the game. I'll try and be more specifc with the title in the future.

02/01/2015 - 4:04pm Good point

That's a good point! And I was completely impressed by MAAR today. We do miss Walton's rebounding (sounds strange saying that, being he's one of our shortest players) but having a healthy Walton is better, so hopefully we can have him back soon.

02/01/2015 - 1:05pm Totally random but...

Random but was just thinking about this before the game starts. Anybody else notice that it seems like every year, we play at the Breslin on a weekend day and the game in Ann Arbor is almost always during the week. Not sure that we play better weekend vs. weekday but I would venture to guess that the crowd is bigger and has more energy on the weekend. I'm sure it's nothing but perhaps a slight advantage is gained?

01/29/2015 - 3:25pm Another angle

Agree with you however one thing I will say is that the Eastern and NJIT losses are looking better (if that's possible) and better everyday. Eastern's RPI is close to being under 150 and as long as we can keep NJIT's RPI under 200, we should be alright. Both teams are almost assured winning records, albeit against a weak schedule. I think in the end, those losses are still going to be bad but not quite as bas as we thought at the time.

In regards to wins, those Oregon and Syracuse wins, if I had to guess, are going to start looking really good and soon. Both teams have been playing good ball and should be in the top 50 in the RPI by the end of the season. At this point, we have 6 more opportunities at gaining some more top 50 RPI wins. I stil say, with 11 conference wins and a win in the BTT, I think we're in. Only time will tell.

01/29/2015 - 1:29pm Thanks

Thanks for more solid advice. I could give two shits about the total points, was just more annoyed that someone would go out of their way to neg someone who made a point of saying this was their post and I thought I followed most of the 'How to post informative crap' rules but like someone said above, guess you can't make everyone happy.

01/29/2015 - 1:01pm Thanks

Appreciate the advice for a newbie, I'll keep that in mind for posts in the future.

01/29/2015 - 12:50pm A down vote?

Seriously, somebody down voted my first post.....*smh* sometimes this community is something else. The post was informative, relevant information. Anyways, hope (the majority) of you guys found this informative.

01/29/2015 - 11:37am Agreed!

That's a very fair point about not looking ahead. I guess I was just posting this to show how much we've came back from the dead this year. Amazing that, even after that awful losing streak in the non-conference season, the fact that we are on the fringe of the NCAA tourney is pretty amazing! But point taken, this team has a lot to be proud of and we, as fans, should just take it as it comes.

01/23/2015 - 8:22pm Lmao

No joke, I had been laughing about that one for like 20 mins. I came back half an hour later, and I'm still laughing. Well played, sir. Well played!

01/20/2015 - 9:10pm Only a sophomore

He's only a Sophmore, so I doubt he would have transfered next year but the point still stands. He likely lost his ability to transfer as a Senior. He actually played some decent defense as well tonight. My buddy actually coached Sean Lonergan in Fishers, I know he was just totally geeked to have him on the floor, grab a rebound, and score a bucket. Great stuff all around!

01/20/2015 - 8:52pm Just a thought

Just throwing this out there but my thought after the game is that the loss of Caris might actually help the offense in a really strange way. When you look at this Rutgers game and how spread out the scoring was, the way to really beat Michigan was to clamp down on Caris and the rest of the team just forced shots. I have to wonder, without Caris, does the rest of the team feel less pressure this way? Just a thought. Either way, I love the win and hope for another one come Saturday! Go Blue!

11/17/2014 - 8:38pm Young Team

And so nice NOT to hear excuses like "We're a young team" or "We had a great week of practice". Results are WAYYY more fun!

03/05/2014 - 10:16pm Holy Cross

It doesn't appear this has been noted but Holy Cross just keeps on winning and just advanced to the Patriot League semi-finals. If they can find a way to win the Patriot League championship, there is a good shot they could move into the RPI top 100. Another top 100 win can't hurt. Also a decent run by Charlotte in Conference USA would be great to make that worst loss look a little better. All small things at this point but if it moves us up to the 2 line, I'll take it!

03/05/2014 - 9:58pm Gavin

Wow! Gavin Groninger! That's a name I haven't heard in a long time! Wonder what he's up to?

03/05/2014 - 9:56pm I've got two...

The first two that come to mind for me are Maceo Baston and LaVell Blanchard. Maceo played in some years with a few decents teams but LaVell was always a trooper and reprensented the school and the team so well! Wish he would have acheived more success while at Michigan. I also tried so hard to root for Lester Abram. That guy might have had more injuries then any player EVER.

02/26/2014 - 9:37pm Great win!

Yea, we all know that GRIII is a streaky player but hopefully this is the kind of game that really gets him going and just in time for the games that really matter! Go Glen Go!

02/23/2014 - 4:37pm Spartan Seniors

I'm sure this has been mentioned 50 times by now but I think the most pleasure I get from the win today is that Keith Appling and Adrian Payne finished their career at MSU going 0-4 in Ann Arbor. John Beilein is the man!

02/11/2014 - 11:24pm Favorite moment

I gotta say, my favorite moment of the entire game was that 3 pointer by GRIII with about 3 mins left. That kid has had a rough few games but that shot really did put the game away. GO BLUE!!! FUCK OHIO!!!

02/11/2014 - 11:21pm Unique perspective

Just giving a different point of view here and didn't think I'd ever share anything like this on here but figure it's for good reason. I'm actually gay and this is in essense the same way I came out to my parents (althought, it was via a very short email and not a text). But let me share with you why I decided to go that route. I know my parents well and I knew that a face to face conversation or even over the phone wouldn't be right because my parents are the type that like to take some time, digest the topic, and then discuss it. My parents are now my #1 fans and we had a great conversation about it. I can't help but feel our relationship is better because of how it all went down. In the words of my Mom 'It took you 20 years to accept that you were gay and it took me a day. Thank you for giving me that time to take it all in'.

12/25/2013 - 8:25pm M GIfts

I got a pretty sweet Michigan cutting board made of wood from the state of Michigan. My Mom also made me some pretty awesome hand-painted Michigan coasters. Was a great Christmas, looking forward to relaxing with friends until I go back to work on the 2nd. Happy Holidays fellow MGoBloggers!

12/14/2013 - 3:24pm Good points

You do make some good points here. I'm honestly tempted to re-watch the game because it seemed to me, specifically in the 2nd half, everytime Walton was in the game, Arizona made a run and then Beilein was forced with putting Spike back in the game to settle things down. I think Walton will the PG of the future, just wish we didn't have to play him right now. Having him back up a guy like Trey or Darius for a year would be much better. Feel a lot like Derrick is getting thrown into the fire right now.

12/14/2013 - 2:54pm Honest question

I seriously mean this as an honest question because I feel completely the opposite. Why would you play Walton instead of Spike? I feel like the drop off from Spike to Walton is just huge right now. Walton actually kind of reminds me of Caris last year. He just seems a step behind, that the game is too fast for him. Just curious if you saw something I didn't.
