Wishful thinking. Rod Moore was "fine", but it's clearly pretty serious or something that can become chronic like a hamstring. My guess is he is always close, but it flares up immediately.  Sometimes those things need a few months or a year to fully heal up. I don't know if we've ever had a single season where there wasn't a major injury or a weird head scratching injury where no one knows anything but the player is said to be fine, but never really plays. Then next season they'll be articles about how their finally healthier than they've been in years, etc.,but then it will be clear they've lost a step like Corum has.  It's the same movie over and over.  Luckily if JJ can stay healthy we always have a chance.

Rod Moore and a few others have NHG syndrome.  I guess he can come back next year. I think it takes a lot of injury luck or a roster with NIL fed and happy 5 star backups ready to go. We don't have it. I think Johnson is much further from coming back than we think too.  It was all talk about maybe only missing a game and now we're looking at him missing a quarter or more of the season already if he doesn't play tonight. I hope the D line is as good as they hype otherwise PSU, Maryland and OSU could carve us up.  Were only likely to get more injured as the season goes along.  You can always expect 3 or 4 starters to be injured at any given time.

While I appreciate one of MeanJoe’s rare serious posts where he actually adds something to the discussion, you’re kind of missing the point here. The syndrome should not be attributed to NHG but more so to “Coach Speak” from JH.

The issue was never NHG being hurt but rather the lack of transparency from the coaches. Colson, Barrett, Harrell, and Rolder made do but the fact that nobody outside of the mothership was privy to the situation and was never to going to learn the truth is where the dismay stems from.

Tonight is technically still preseason.

if this is still an issue come conference games next week, then I am officially worried that this is an “NHG soft tissue” situation.

Why is Rod Moore *now* out? He hasn't played all year and Michigan is being EXTRA cautious trying to have guys fresh for the final 6-7 games of the year (including a B1G Championship and two CFP wins).

But when was Moore *in*?

I understand, but I guess I'd never rely on an injury report from a college team, especially one coached by Jim Harbaugh. Especially when Jim Harbaugh has our non-conference schedule.

He's always been OUT. Same with Walker. There hasn't been any speculation of those guys playing.

I think next week is the one where we have to read into this report a little bit more. It's clear we are being ultra conservative. Last year Corum was worn out, the OL was worn out, Colson and Barrett were cooked.

Exactly. It's one of those things that I'll look back and love if it works and hate if it doesn't.

I get why we're doing it. But rhythm and chemistry matters. So does building an identity.

Everyone else is working to knock us off the mountain top and we're resting.

But again, it absolutely can work. It's not like we start the B1G with OSU and PSU. We have opportunities to work our way into "game shape." Meanwhile, you're getting guys like Sabb and the CBs some incredible experience...if they're call on later in the year, you're thankful for these snaps.

Said it 3 months ago about Johnson. He wasn't planning on being ready. The rest of the secondary being hurt is becoming a problem. Not that I expect us to struggle or lose but these guys need to play.

Not so much concerned about known quantities if they are just being extra cautious in non conference but someone like Walker who is so raw could definitely use reps against overmatched teams to build technique and confidence. Would hate to have him thrust into a game later in the year that is closer and have a big mistake happen.
