Very nice!

What was great too was that McCarthy showed Jadyn Davis what the offense looks like with a 5* guy behind center. I was concerned after the CSU game that there was too much short stuff and conservative throws (only 1 throw all day 10+ yards downfield) that it might scare away the last best chance at a top tier QB recruit in the next two cycles.

Did not imagine the qb competition could be over this quickly and decisively. Really hope michigan fans show some class and don’t rip into cade too much. Feel terrible for him. But I’ve literally never seen anyone kill it like jj today, even considering the baby seal competition. Not a single mistake or non perfect throw. Sky is absolutely the limit.

Well if McNamara heard that chant (and I’m sure he did), I wouldn’t blame him at all if he decided right then and there “once this season is over, fuck you guys, I’m out of here.”

It seems like JJ is the better fit right now, but I feel awful for McNamara. He led this team to heights last year that Michigan hasn’t had in two decades, and within nine months he’s just a backup while the stadium is yelling and screaming to put the other guy in. When McNamara is in the game no less.

I know that would affect my ability to play for sure. So I personally won’t fault Cade if it did for him. If he decides to leave once the season is over, I hope he can go somewhere where he can start and put up some really good numbers.

Cade had the opportunity to be the #1 QB and didn't take it, He was inaccurate in the spring game (JJ wasn't available and he got to play for both teams.. What is the excuse for that?) He was meh against CSU and was meh yesterday. If anything he has regressed since OSU. We saw what it looks like with him against elite competition against Georgia.

If he can't handle a QB competition or deal with some boos what is that saying about his mental makeup being the starting QB going forward? He is not as talented as JJ or Warren and maybe this offense can be effective without the running threat at QB but it can't be consistently effective with a QB that can't (or doesn't want to) make throws to the field side or take shots downfield.

If he transfers because of this Michigan will be fine with JJ and Warren next year.

There’s a big difference between a fan just acknowledging “hey, the other guy is better” and said fan actively booing the other guy in his own stadium.

There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that McCarthy looks like the better option right now. I also agree that Cade should be able to brush off and compartmentalize the criticism he receives.

But his own fans booing him? In his own stadium? And not for some terrible thing he did off the field, fighting with a teammate/coach or flicking off a ref. Just for how he played the game.

Not going to apologize for saying that is fucking bush league, and it says more about the fans who partook in it than it does Cade’s abilities.

If you were okay with, or even endorsed Cade getting booed under those circumstances, then…..yeesh, pal. Yeesh.

Not going to make excuses for fans but booing because you want player X doesn't mean that it is a personal attack against player Y. I think people on this board are taking this harder than Cade is which is kind of weird to be honest.

I wasn't there and never heard it on the broadcast but I would be interested to know the context of the boos - like was it when Cade went in during the 2nd quarter? etc. The crowd in general wants to see the more exciting player especially when they are rolling in the first half - I very much doubt this was a personal attack at Cade because it really doesn't make it sense to boo him personally.

Anyone paying attention knew it was only a matter of time before McCarthy overtook McNamara with that high ceiling. This outcome didn't surprise me at all, considering the competition, and I expect to see a similar outing against UConn. If he can play like this once the B1G season starts that should silence any doubters.

Hassan Haskins was the MVP last year, he consistently, regularly, and thoroughly put the offense on his shoulders.

Cade was exactly what he needed to be, and asked to be, in order to win the B1G. And no one can ever take that away from him.

But this years offense, is not last years offense. And if JJ is the best player complimenting the 2022-roster (he clearly is), then JJ it is.

Cade is what we needed him to be when we needed him to be it, in 2021 (including some sprinkling of JJ)

JJ looks to be what we need in 2022

They don't compare because they don't compare.

Cade still has 4 of the 10 longest TD passes in Michigan history, and last season had something like the lowest TD / INT ratio of any Michigan quarterback ever and one of the highest completion %. So he took care of the ball, and put it on target. Seems like that's probably why we had the season we did. He was lights out when he needed to be, nothing more, nothing less.
