Well Dennis Norfleet took to Instagram on Wednesday Morning to apologize for what has happend.

I've been crying so much I have no more tears to give I just want to give an apology to all the Michigan fans and the Michigan alumni last but not least my team. We been through it all we all have the same goals that we want to reach but I've been talking to God everything is going to be alright for those who don't know what's going on... Trust me I will be okay things happen for reason #MajQr

If there's one thing I've learned in life it's that sometimes it takes the lowest of lows to change lives for the best. Hope he comes out of this situation on top like I've seen happen so many times. Thoughts and prayers are with him.

I hope like hell he makes it back on the team. Could you imagine the ovation he'd get the first time his name is announced when he goes back to return a kick during a home game? That's a moment I want to see!

I disagree.  The team tried and many players were bright spots.

It was the Shitty Coaching on both sides of the ball from the sloppy Head Coach down his staff that let the team down.

Players can only take themselves so far.  They need coaching to push them to their highest level.

Hoke let the team down, not the other way around.  Dennis was just a gear in this engine which was running on low grade fuel.

I'd like his experience back in the return game.

The trip to Utah and Happy Valley at night we could use his sure handed experience.

Hurry back Fleet.

Hope he gets this behind him. Sounds like he made a mistake and is deeply regretting it. I'd love to see him on the team, but actions have consequences. Given the timing it is likely academic related. I hope he gets the problem resolved so he can get his degree.

Not that it's any of our business, but still no definitive word on what it is that "happened" which means the rumor mill will keep on grinding.

What happened. It should be between Dennis and the staff/university. Unfortunately, some jackass put himself in the middle to cause all kids of speculation, to the detriment of Michigan and the athlete. Yeah, we are all curious, but it really isn't for us to know, imo. Look how much he got judged when we don't know. If more "info" comes out, there will just be more yay-hoos out there making their opinions heard. This is this guy's life... Nobody else's. Disclaimer: not really directed at you, Don...just throwing my thoughts down, fwiw.

Why is some glorified gym teacher speaking on his behalf regarding his student record.  That is a compleley private matter and this moron should be completely ashamed of himself.

I hope this spineless bastard gets to talking because he created this mess.

We have no right to know. It sounds like his teammates already know and that he feels very bad about it. If the kid is this upset about it, it doesn't need to be made public any more than it has been.

Academic issues can be pretty complex if there are outside factors and the professor is a dick. I don't want him to get special treatment, but I'm hoping there can be a fair resolution if there are those kinds of factors.

Sadly, I think everyone on the Internet will know exactly why this issue came about in the coming weeks.

Kids make mistakes. It's frustrating when something academically, unless it's blatant cheating, results in dismissal. There are so many former and current student athletes that have no right earning the moniker "student" yet are sheltered through with little academic work. We obviously have no idea what happened here but I hope he's given the opportunity to make amends. Feel badly for the kid.

If he didn't go to class/finals because of a reason like depression, rather than just plain not caring, I really hope he gets the help he needs. I've been through that and didn't get help through the channels Michigan has for students and I paid for it with my GPA and school standing (temporarily)

Michigan has horrible resources for mental help. It's pathetic. I'm not only saying that from the outside looking in. I've been through the cycle with my own problems and the help they provide you with is garbage. The doctors that work in the psych ward in the main hospital are colder than ice when it comes to patient relationships, which is shocking considering UM is known for the neurology/psychology expertise.

The East Campus Psych clinic isn't bad tho for students.

Five of the docs from the psych ward of the main hospital are members of MGoBlog.

Or is this just a case of Thou Shalt Not Speak Ill Of Anything Michigan?

I agree this isn't just a Michigan issue.  We see stories in the news all the time about the lack of effective mental health care in this country and the tragedies that are partly a result of that failure. I just don't see why this is a negable comment.

I had the same question - why does it have to be either Norfleet is a lazy irredeemable shithead, or he's mentally ill and it's not his fault at all? Isn't it more likely that he just did something stupid and now realizes and regrets it? You know, like a normal human being?

I hope this is meant in jest. Otherwise, you are a fucking idiot.

Brad Cochran played in the early to mid 80s and he was diagnosed with depression early on in his career. Just because he was an athlete didn't make him immune from depression. Thankfully he got the help he needed.

Come to think of it, it's an asinine thing to say - it's not a joking matter. Those are 18-22 year old lives inside those helmets.

Fuck you and Tom Cruise - he also thinks vitamins and exercise will cure depression, and that there's no such thing as a chemical imbalance.

Sometimes exercise can burn off nervous energy and vitamin deficiencies can cause a myriad of neurological conditions including depression.  Taking care of yourself sleep/exercise/eating well can improve most ailments.

I do agree it is a serious issue and most of the severe cases it'll only be a drop in the bucket if anything towards happy and healthy.

Agreed. But that call may well be the reason Brady Hoke is no longer our coach and Jim Harbaugh is.

If that call isn't made, we probably beat Maryland.

Maybe we go on to get stomped in the Quick Lane Bowl and Hoke is fired anyway, but count me as one who sees the silver lining in that atrocious piece of officiating.

I don't know what's going on man, but hope you pull through it. Football or not, you've got an army of fans behind you. Hope to see you in blue this fall, but most importantly I hope to see you well and graduating.

Dennis has no need to apologize.  He has only hurt himself by skipping finals.  Its ok, Michigan football will survive and Dennis can move on to a successful life.

His High School coach however, needs to shut the F up.
