From the bottom to the top… they all sucked today. Players, coaches… it was a team effort to be that bad.
And somehow… we still had the ball with a chance to win at the end. That’s probably what makes this sting so much. We would have won easily if we didn’t shit the bed and set the house on fire.
Per Pepper's post game interview, Harbaugh wouldn't let him. He told him to go to the booth "to avoid something mumble mumble". Sounded like he didn't have a say in where he was. But he did say that he used the opportunity to help strategy, observation wise, etc...
Even though my post below argues the opposite case, I have to agree with you that it was really odd how it played out. And, the locker rooom pic did seem convenient. I hope it was all above board and just everyone being pessimistic about it. I surely hope it was a suspension cover up. IMO that would be worse than lying about sitting out for the draft. I'd have to think Harbaugh wouldn't do that though but he is nutso ....
Maybe this is wishful thinking and rose colored glasses... Everything I've read or heard him say has always been the team, the team, the team. I don't think he would fake this injury. He's a gamer - he has that ultra-competitive personality trait. I just don't see him sitting out completely healthy just to protect himself.
Also, he was in the box with the coaches with binoculars - watching and coordinating with the coaches. I mean they have him do everything - maybe he thought he could help the team with strategy. Or, they figured it would be "BS" heckling and media attention and he was already heartbroken. Or they wanted to protect him from getting to worked up celebrating, getting sideswiped on the sidelines, etc... further injuring himself
We'll probably never really know. Personally, I think he was hurt and he will return. I think Jake Butt will teach him its about the team - not the other way around. I bet Jake has ZERO regrets about coming back this year even after the injury. There are more NJ kids coming in this year. It would be Peppers team. A potential Heisman run. Etc....
There are million$ of reasons to leave, but that NFL money can't replace the team and the best years of your life. Peppers work here is incomplete. I think he knows that. I'm hoping that's enough for him to stay and enjoy his youth and time at college.
Vader's scene at the end is up there with "I am your father" as best SW scene ever. Hell that might have been one of the most bad ass movie moments ever.
It was like what you try to do in any video game you play. It was essentially running the ball out of bounds at the 1yd line just so Bo Jackson could run for 99yd TDs in Tecmo. It was season mode of Madden or NCAA where you throw for 118 TDs with no INTs and 10k yards. It was literally god mode in any action rpg. It was what each and every one of us fans would have done if they said "hey make a Vader scene where he can do anything and destroys everyone in his path".
Almost 40 years later we SEE why he was so feared. Absofuckinglutely insane!
Baylor vs. Penn State need to play each other in a bowl game this year. It will be the 1st Annual Pervert Bowl sponsored by Aldridge Partners Law Firm and Trojan Condoms - "because leaving DNA can be problematic".
I know people like to hate on Dantonio primarily because he's Sparty's coach and a bit of an ass, but so far he has proven to be a solid football coach whether you like him or not.
However, part of what has given him so much success is having studs. That time is over. The previous regimes opened up the recruiting grounds to Sparty, and that has stopped. This year it was obvious the talent levels have shifted. BUT, he was still able to get his guys to play us within a touchdown (yeah last minute, but still we were all shitting the bed after last year).
I think the reason he is going to second guess himself about this game in particular is this was it - the last chance - the last time the talent/success gap would be this close while JH is in AA. He knows he could have possibly stolen one yesterday, but some of his calls, likely cost them that shot. In all likelihood, it probably plays out they lose, but he's gotta be playing the what if game.
Glad nothing goofy happened and Texas won. That was seriously one of the worst calls on that fumble ret TD I've ever seen.
BTW - on said fumble not play ... Baylor's QB was the only one trying - the Oline just said whiff whatever... I'd hope a team I root for never quit like that.
I get the feeling that LSU ousted Les earlier rather than later with their sights on Herman. I know some of the ESPN talking heads that are LSU alum have been outspokenly all in on Herman. I wonder if they still feel like that way?
I mean as a fanbase we know what its like to have a coaching prospect desire go up in smoke when we wanted Les. I believe LSU also had a "not again" feeling in regads to Jimbo last year and Herman this year. It sucks if they started the wheels in motion by dumping Les just to have their target sort of implode. I mean he can coach and would lkely win there, its just the shine has worn off before he's even been introduced this way - if he even was or continues to be their target candidate.
Barring injury or natural disaster type wind/rain, we should cruise in this one. We will want this win more than they will after last year's game and all that rides on this season.
We need to win this game - I'll give it 4.5 John L. Smith smacks to the face out 5 on the urgency meter.

Been to several Michigan games in the past, but this is my first The Game. I’m coming in from Arizona and should be frozen solid by kickoff.

IU should have onside kick there.
Do we have more offsides than pass completions?
24-7 at half with IU getting the ball?
Fucking clown show...
That's some #1 jersey catching action there..
This would be a great time for another 3 and out ...

Wisconsin's secondary has been trash, but damn that was a pretty throw and route.
This is horrible defense... what is Wisky doing?

You'd think they would as to prepare for their future after football.
