ESPN Rumor Central: Arnett leaning towards going Blue
FWIW ESPN Rumor Central says that after the visit Arnett "may" be leaning towards committing to Michigan on Wednesday.
Kind of sounds like its just the author's speculation, but either way its good news.

Yeah I don't know. He has seemed to be one to play around with everyone on his recruitment, so who knows other than him. It would be a great get to have him as a WR, but I would not be surprised or heart broken if he goes elsewhere.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:48 AM ^
he really must have enjoyed that trip to Boise last weekend.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
I understand it seems unlikely he goes blue but I think there are many reasons he may end up here. It seems that is brother is a big michigan fan and they seem close according to what I've read. Additionally Michigan has its QB situation basically cemented in for the next 4 years, that type of stability won't be found anywhere else. It was be interesting to see what happens, but unfortunately if he signs up I think Watkins will be clemson boound.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:58 AM ^
Assuming talent level is near equal, I would rather take a recruit from Michigan Agricultural than Clemson.
November 9th, 2010 at 1:32 PM ^
Gotta figure that's why there is all this interest about this recruit on here. He's awesome, but getting the attention of awesome talents at wide out is the norm. Plus defense is all we talk about usually.
We want to see State fail really bad and are tired of the "owning the state of michigan" MSM articles.
We can stomach it if we have to, but Arnett would be a great addition if he surprises us.

ESPN has always been effective in reporting rumors that eventually become true. /s
hahahahahahahah, wait a minute!
November 9th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
But Rivals also reported that all five teams have recently received positive feedback on his recruitment and that today/tomorrow should be exciting.
BUT YES!
November 9th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
but this is a guy that likes to mess with reporters and fans WRT his recruitment. In fact, he has made a sport out of messing with people's heads. So it's hard to take anything he says seriously.
I don't blame him either. I think it's pretty hilarious when recruits mess with overinvested fans (like myself).
November 9th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
But the post if full of speculation and "coulds". It's a just a title to get people to click on the link of same ol' same ol'.
Anything meaningful has already been shared on this board.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:53 AM ^
I 100% agree that its all speculation, and seemingly baseless as well. However, I just thought that it being out there was worth posting. More of a just saying this guy is saying type of thing.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
Makes no mention of Tennessee being the leader, which Sam Webb has said the past couple days it is. Combine that with the other "conventional wisdom" used in the article and it doesn't seem that substantive to me. I'd put little faith in this.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
he did come to ann arbor this weekend to see an epic game
and the 'no pass' offense did have a receiver w/ about 250 yards
its about time recruits start going our way
November 9th, 2010 at 11:50 AM ^
I would be surprised if he went Blue, but can you blame him for getting all starry-eyed after seeing what Roundtree, Hemingway, and Co. did this weekend?
November 9th, 2010 at 11:51 AM ^
Dude, please don't get any hopes up. From day one he said he wants to play in a pro style offense. He only came in for a visit at the last minute. He hasn't been on us at all until very very recently... I just feel like he will be a Spartan and it kind of feels like this situation is just setting us up for more "Sparty dominates in-state recruiting" headlines, which may or may not be planned/whispered in his ear (remember Pryor?) by the Spartan coaches. They have been negatively recruiting us real hard and if they know they have a kid they might be able to sway him into doing something like this... Of course this is all my crazy brain at work and nothing is substaintiated, but like, it seems at least somewhat likely based on the circumstances. I would love to see it happen for us, but I really really doubt it.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:59 AM ^
A simple, "he's not coming" would have done just fine. Now I'm going to kick rocks on the way to my car for lunch.

Sorry about your vagina.

I didn't quite follow the logic, but Sam Webb said that he wanted to keep his visit this past weekend quiet b/c he didn't want it to seem like he was adding Michigan to his list just to add drama to his recruitment...Sam has also twice now said that Tenn and MSU are his guesses as Arnett's favorites, so I also don't think we should get our hopes up.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:30 PM ^
You may very well be correct.
You don't follow the logic that a kid who hypothetically is in the bag for MSU would want to make us look bad?
November 9th, 2010 at 1:51 PM ^
I didn't quite follow Arnett's logic of having a "secret" visit to U of M so that the Michigan coaches didn't feel like they were being used. The reality is that the "secret" visit became (obviously) not-so-secret and that this is what was always going to happen.
FWIW, Sam says that he thinks Arnett likes Tenn the most but will default to MSU if school location becomes a factor, so I don't think Arnett is in the bag for MSU.
November 9th, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
It might have remained a secret if he hadn't shown up. Sam had a similar story last year with a committed player who ended up not making the trip. I don't think we ever learned who it was.
November 9th, 2010 at 6:46 PM ^
i seem to remember a dude named pryor...
November 9th, 2010 at 11:53 AM ^
One more day until we know. Dee and Dee. Sounds good to me.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:53 AM ^
that while UM certainly improved its chances with his visit, it would be either Tennessee or MSU in the end. I'd put much more stock in Webb's assessment than ESPN's.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:54 AM ^
....This blurb is written by Bill Kruelic who is a massive douche bag and huge fuckeye homer. I'm sure he is writing this so wednesday he can follow up with another article that says, "RR and Michigan let hometime WR slip away as [blank team] pulls off an upset." It is a good rule of thumb to ignore everything Bill Kruelic has to say, he deserves to be punched in the face.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:16 PM ^
Eh.... "fuckeyes" and conspiracy theory in one post?
November 9th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
I think Tom VH gave us subtle hints the month leading up to Dee Hart that led most of the community to believe he was coming. I haven't seen anything from VH (about Arnett) that sounds hopefull. It seems like we weren't even on Arnett's radar 4 weeks ago. Conventional wisdom says we can't steal him in the last week or 2 prior to his announcement.
I gotta believe that with this offense, we should have no problem attracting 4+ star WRs. If Arnett goes elsewhere, hopefully not to MSU, then we move on. Is it just me, I thought I've heard more more buzz about Arnett as Junior than as a Senior?
November 9th, 2010 at 1:07 PM ^
...two of these.
Hope he sees this from his perch in AZ.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:56 AM ^
Can Arnett play CB?
Seriously, Saginaw High has a pipeline with MSU. It is unlikely that Arnett will go against the community.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:08 PM ^
LaMarr Woodley would like to discuss this with you.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:19 PM ^
The ONLY reason Woodley came to Michigan is because we beat MSU so bad during his senior year of HS, they had to fire their coach. And once the coach was gone, his link to MSU was gone as well.
The pipeline still exists.

Guns don't kill people, LaMarr Woodley kills people.
November 9th, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
Jerome Jackson, too.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:57 AM ^
i get the feeling that his announcement won't end his recruiting.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:58 AM ^
I agree with dudeness. It's not that I don't trust Rivals/ESPN.....No, wait a minute, I don't trust ESPN. They are more often wrong. Even though I had heard from someone that Dee hart was a silent commit, I was still waiting for the announcement. I just didn't believe it. I guess with Arnett being basically off our radar screen for so long, I just don't see it happening. Otherwise, Tom VH would have told us that we have a real shot at this guy. I give it a 10% chance of happening.
November 9th, 2010 at 11:58 AM ^
He wants the ball in wide open spaces. What better offense than ours. He comes here and with 8 men in box triing to shut down the run he will be left alone in the deep secondary.
Heeps of yards, heeps of touchdowns.
He would look good with a #1 on his jersey.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:19 PM ^
A gut feeling from Sam Webb would make me a little more confident :)
November 9th, 2010 at 11:59 AM ^
If he decides to go to the best school in Michigan and don the maize and blue then good for him. He'll do well and win 4 big ten championships. On the other hand, if he decides to go to Sparty or elsewhere we'll be okay and good luck to him.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:01 PM ^
I have insider: the post is speculation based on his lack of a visit to Knoxville--he's scheduled to official this weekend--and a quote about Roundtree Kurelic got. Nothing to see here. I don't think anyone really knows, as this is a weird recruitment.
November 9th, 2010 at 5:45 PM ^
I agree his recruitment mostly has been bs from the beginning. He seems to be trying to throw everyone off or messing around for fun; but why is he announcing his choice this Wed night if he is visiting any school this weekend? If he is visiting the same school he is announcing as his choice this Wednesday, why not wait until after the visit? And he can't be announcing one school on Wednesday and visiting a different school on Saturday, can he? That would be totally bizarre.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:04 PM ^
Anything until you hear it from his mouth on Wednesday!
November 9th, 2010 at 1:41 PM ^
don't believe it till January when he signs the dotted line.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:44 PM ^
Sorry, but I would rather have Ray Drew or Kris Frost or nearly any 4 or 5 star LB, CB, S or DE.

Ray Vinopal was a 2* and Courtney Avery was a 3* and they both turned out to be one hell of a pair of gamers. RR and Co. know what they are doing when it comes to recruiting. I too would love to pick up Kris Frost or any other hyped athlete, but until a 5th star guarantees awesome, then let them do what they do. What happened to the last 5 star athlete we signed?
November 11th, 2010 at 12:24 PM ^
He's going to be a Vol. Raback it.
