All of the diets, keto,…

All of the diets, keto, Adkins, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, etc work and there is no great difference in weight loss.  The idea is that you eat less, have better food choices, and exercise.Get the book Always Hungry by David Ludwig, M.D., PhD. Available at many supermarkets. It is a sensible path to weight loss.

Don Brown

Sounds like Don Brown is getting the band back together!

When they showed Jabrill up

When they showed Jabrill up in the booth I was looking for Al Borges. I swear he was making some of the run calls. Good effort to fight back. Too bad the refs couldn't see all the holding. I still love my team. I may be disappointed, but they never quit.

People are saying MSU will be

People are saying MSU will be ready and motivated for an upset. Don't you think they were motivated not to lose 3 in a row, or 4, or 5 ? If I'm motivated to drive somewhere and I have no gas in the tank I'm not going anywhere. I think their tank is empty. Spartans have no will this season.

Joined on an annual basis years ago and saw no return for the cost. I was dismayed to have been called from a calling center in Virginia asking me to renew. I live in Ann Arbor and see little value to the membership. Give your money to another unit where it can be used better.

Remember the saying " it's

Remember the saying " it's the Indian, not the arrow". I was fitted by my country club pro after doing several demos. I ended up with a nice set of pings but since I don't play enough it didn't make any difference in my game, only in my bank balance. If you are playing a couple of rounds a week it might be worth it. If you are only a casual player, keep your old clubs. They will be much more of a conversation piece and a source of constant excuses.

There is certainly more than one side to this story

There is no denying that Ondre wants to compete and finish out his time at Michigan. if the coaches have been advised by medical staff that it is highly possible that Ondre suffers another injury that would keep him from completing the season then it is in everyone's best interest to step back, as hard as that may be. Sometimes pressuring for medical reasons is just that and nothing more.

Did you ever think that

Did you ever think that publically, Ross said that he would not interfere with decisions related to Dave Brandon. What if privately, he said that he would also not interfere with the University's attempt to hire Jim Harbaugh? Gets me giddy just thinking about it.

Not a UM jet

As someone correctly posted, this jet is owned by a U of M alum and donor. He is frequently in Ann Arbor for business purposes. Tracking this plane for MgoBloggers will be like teasing a cat with a laser pointer.

I agree that Brandon is a

I agree that Brandon is a snake. I also agree that it is good for Brandon to keep Brady around to deflect the heat from himself. However, at some point, Brandon himself has to be evaluated. Annual performance reviews are done at the University of Michigan, and David Brandon is not immune. He has handled many things very poorly and when he is finally measured, he will be found wanting.

As for Steven Ross. The man has already given 300M to the University. How much more do any of you think he is prepared to give? In my opinion, not much. We don't have to worry about Ross, we have to worry about the next "Ross" and many other alums that have the means to be major contributors to this University. This is the University of Michigan, not the University of Ross. The President and Regents have not forgotten that even if the AD has.

That there is a disconnect

That there is a disconnect between the AD and his head football coach is clear. Brandon had information that he did not give to his coach. A coach that was going to be addressing the national media. He allowed Brady to flounder and look like an uninformed coach. Although many may say "that's just what he is" it is unfair to pass that judgement when we know that information was withheld from him.

In the interim, I suggest that Brandon was getting information on Shane's concussion report, seeking legal counsel with the University attorneys, speaking/meeting with the Morris family, and doing the new Michigan thing, apologizing. Contrition works (it has decreased lawsuits at the University of Michigan Medical Center). In addition, I am certain he had to present something to the Regents and to the University President.

Dave Brandon wants to win, at any cost. He has fired non-revenue coaches for records that are far better than Brady's. Programs with good student athletes and coaches who have served honorably (Tennis, water polo to name two). Maybe some of the other posters are right, Dave is trying to parlay this into an alumni donation to cover severance costs and then some to boot. Maybe also, the Regents and President have restricted his authority on the matter because they do not want him to be the person looking for Brady's replacement.

Stephen Jay Gould of Harvard University refers to "tragic optimism". "We do usually manage to muddle through, thanks to rationality with an adequate dose of human decency and hard work". Unfortunately, we do not move toward a solution until a good measure of preventable tragedy has already occurred to supr us into action.

As a fan base we need to move

As a fan base we need to move on from thinking that this program has to be coached by a Michigan Man. Harbaugh is not coming here. Not now, not in five years, never. Unless he gets divorced, he is not moving to Michigan. He is a pro coach now and will remain a pro coach. There will always be jobs available to him. Good coaches have been run out by their fans. Look at Mac Brown. Now being a commentator, he would never go back to coaching. Who wants a job where their every move is second-guessed?

TKA Callers

Personally, I like JJ and Don. I like Linda because I am impressed at how knowledgable she is about Michigan athletics and I wish my wife was like that.. . For me, its Ariel. Whenever he gets on the air I change the channel. I won't be mean, but I just can't stand to listen to him talk. He likes to hear his own voice and just mimics what the trolls are saying about us. Cut him off and keep more listeners.

Personally, I think if they

Personally, I think if they would allow alcohol sales inside the stadium it would increase season ticket sales. Our University President MSC said she would never allow alcohol sales and I believe the incoming President is also against alcohol sales. We allowed sales for the NHL game (you couldn't have a hockey game without beer sales), why can't we do it for football. It would also improve revenues.

Coach Nuss

Is there a correct fist to pump when singing the Victors? Since I was a child I knew that you raise your right hand during hail to the victors. I sat one section over from coach Nuss and the recruits and he was using his left hand despite the fact that the recruits were all using their right hands. I'm probably overreacting but I'm thinking that if he started using his right hand that Harris would commit.

All they need to do to

All they need to do to motivate the players is to show  the Olidepo dunk at the end of the IU game last year. It got me pissed off and I'm over 50. IU will be tough at home. Crean is the second biggest prick in B1G behing Izzo. He will be all over the refs.

I went to Michigan for

I went to Michigan for undergrad and grad school. My wife went to Michigan for undergrad and grad school and we just went through admissions with my daughter. She and all but one of her friends got into Michigan. The friend who did not went to Pioneer, played 2 varsity sports, had a 3.5GPA tons of outside volunteer experiences and a 33 ACT. She is now a freshman at MSU.

GPA is nice, but it does depend on which high school you attended. The reason I asked about the AP test scores is because it is somewhat of a measure of both you and the level of education you received/are receiveing at your school. If students from your school are getting 0,1,2 in their AP tests, the level of education is not high. There will always be outliers, but a trend can be seen. There are national rankings of schools and a 4.0 at one school does not equal a 4.0 at another school. Admissions will have a "corrected GPA" based on your school's ranking.

Michigan has a rolling admission so definitely apply early. I know for a fact that they have been refining the acceptance policy over the last year or two and have plans to make it even more difficult in the coming years. Essay is everything if you are on the cusp. If you had high AP test scores I would advise you to include this in your essay. It is easy to understand that you just had a down day on the ACT; it is not a terrible score by any means, but it should be improved if possible. Michigan is also making an effort to increase out-of-state students to maximize tuition differential.

My advice is worth what you paid for it. Good luck.

I will be honest with you

I don't think your chances are great. You said you took AP classes. Did you take the AP exams? If so did you get at least 4's? Your ACT score is not high enough. You need to be over 30 for consideration. I have a friend's daughter who is in-state, varsity athlete, AP courses, outside organizations, High GPA but a 28 ACT. Was flatly rejected. No wait list or anything. She also was the first person in her family to attend college. Colleges love that, but it just wasn't enough forher. Michigan is great, but unfortunately it is not for everyone. You can get a quality education at many, many places. If you hold a special place in your heart for Michigan consider coming here for graduate school. More scholarships are available (per number of students) and if you can keep high GPA in undergrad and do well on the GRE your chances are much better.

Lots of positives last night

There were a lot of positives from last night's game. First, Zach Nagelvoort seems to be cementing his position as the number 1 goalie. He now has a 6-2-1 record and Racine, with a 4-0-1 record is no slouch. We are in good shape with goaltending. CJ Motte played outstanding last night. This is a goalie that is 13-0-2 for the season coming into last night's game.

We have a very young team and sometimes it is difficult to maintain focus. Despite that, we won the great majority of faceoff's in all three zones. It is difficult to have production when you don't win faceoff's. Our speed increased in the 2nd period and it led to a lot of opportunities (shots on goal). Our forechecking was great in the 2nd and defense was outstanding.

Although there was a slight letdown in the third period it was understandable. Ferris really pressed Michigan and put a ton of pressure on our defensemen. Although I would have loved a 1 goal win, it is games like these that the young Wolverines can use for experience when they play Minnesota and in the tournament. They will go far because they have been tested early in the season.

You have to remember that

You have to remember that this is Thanksgiving weekend and most students were not on campus. Despite this, the studentbsection was full and despite the fact that the stadium was 25% red! the play on the field kept the away team quiet. We owned this stadium and were it not for a poor decision on the conversion, we would have dropped the number 1 or 2 team in the nation (post Bama loss).
We were 17 point underdogs and we had every opportunity to win this game. Aside from several series in the third, we were playing to win instead of playing not to lose. I am proud of the effort in this game end I support the 2 point try. I would have done the same thing. Fuck the armchair QB's like Holtz who say we should have gone for the tie.i totally support this team.

I would love to be a fly on

I would love to be a fly on the wall for Dave Brandon's meeting with Brady Hoke. It has to be so difficult to extract money from donors when your premier athletic team looks so pathetic. I know I'm not feeling very charitable right now.

A

The most amazing thing about the halftime with MSC is that she has clearly stated that as long as she is president there will never be alcohol sales in the stadium. It seems that she was able to have access to alcohol.
If we as fans are being forced to watch the least imaginative play calling since I have began watching games, the least Mary Sue can do is let us buy alcohol to make it tolerable.

The surprising thing is that the are allowing beer sales for the NHL Classic game at the Big House. Money Talks.

Fire Brandon

This all started with Brandon. He was the one who wanted to do the year-end review of RR at the end of year 3 despite the common perception that any new coach would have a 4 year honeymoon. It was Brandon who hired Hoke, who in turn, hired Borges, Funk, et al. It was Brandon who instituted GA for the student section so when you look at the stadium and see great areas of empty seats, it is Brandon you can thank.

Despite this, Brandon will ask me for my PSD again to secure my seats for next year. Michigan Football is the crown jewel of Michigan athletics. it generates milions of dollars a year and provides funding for non-revenue sports at the University.

Our team is playing scared. They are the butt of jokes and just look pathetic on national TV for the last two weeks. There are probably 50 running backs in the nation who gain more yards per game than our entire rushing offense! OSU will happily shred us in the Big House and pile on style points to boot. This is nothing but an ugly season.

If I didn't love the program so much I wouldn't renew my tickets. The problem is that I love the program and my seats, I just hate the product that I am buying. As I said, it's all Brandon's fault. Do you think Les Miles would think about an offer to come home to momma?

Mr. Brandon,

For the past several years I have paid nearly $10,00.00 per year in PSD fees for my premium club seats. I have been sold a bill of goods by you and the athletic department. Like a sucker, I bought in to the hype on Brady Hoke and his coaching staff. Hook, line, and sinker I took what I was being told about the turn around of the program and I believed. I am unhappy and I will do what you seem to listen to best. I will vote with my feet and with my wallet. I will not be renewing all of my seats. You can sell them to someone else who has more dollars than sense. When the product you are selling no longer sells you will be forced to change something. I believe your supply will quickly outweigh your demand, especially at the prices you are charging for this mediocre product.

Sergio

Watching Sergio on 17 reminded me of Tin Cup. I was waiting for him to just stick his hand out to get another ball from his caddy.

I too am surprised

Surprised that Compher didn't drop since he has been off ice since his concussion. He is supposed to see his first game action after Thanksgiving. He is a good player and makes others around him better. Tyler Motte's production is down with Compher out. When Compher gets back Motte's goals and assists will increase...same goes for Allen.  I went to the Dubuque game to see Downing play but he didn't play that day. In any case, Michigan will still do well with this class from the USHL.

Brandon has already begun to address the problem

Every ticket is scanned and tracked. The AD know which student ticket was validated for re-sale, which ticket went unused and for which game(s). There continues to be a waiting list to be eligible for tickets. There is an annual $25 fee charged to remain on this list. The University is making money either way. Also, since the tickets were already paid for, the University can't force someone to use their ticket after it has been purchased. They can regulate how it is used (resold) but they are powerless if you chose to wallpaper your bathroom with the unused tickets.

The main issue here is our legacy of having the largest crowd viewing a football game anywhere in america. This is about maintaining the streak of over 100,000 in attendance each home game. With growing apathy from students this is at risk. It is also better for TV viewers (regardless of which network) to see a packed house. As more games are televised, this also affects recruiting. Who wants to go to a school where the students don't even show up to the game?

Brandon needs to trim the student section. Additonally, did you know that sutdents from U of M Dearborn and U of M Flint are eligible to purchase football tickets? Those on the waiting list should come before students at a campus that is not even considered a satellite campus. Now get of my effing lawn.

I think it's time to bring in Thatcher Demko.

Thatcher, the USA U-18 goalie played ND to an overtime tie and although he eventually lost in a shootout, held ND scoreless through 2 1/2 periods. Outstanding young goalie and should be on Red's radar. He also beat University of MInnesota and was named the outstanding player for the four nations tournament that just won against the U-18's from Sweden, Switzerland and Finland.

I've been audited 3 times

I own my own business. I have had my personal returns audited twice and my business returns audited once. I guess in reality, my business was audited 3 times since the K-1 from the business was part of the personal return. My only advice is " Buclke Up"

IRS was not easy to work with. Of the three audits over a 5 year period my accountant was overly aggressive on mortagage interest deductions on the first return only. I got hit with the difference and a fairly hefty penalty. Since I had an accountant, I had him take care of things as my representative with the IRS (but then also part of the penalty). There were no findings on subsequent audits.

Since my initial audit I have received so many letters of inquiry that I am sick of the IRS. All the audit did was put me squarely on their radar. As Doug Karsh says "best-a-luck"

Connor Carrick

Young athletes are all the same. They do what they do because they love it AND if they're good enough they have a chance to get paid to do it for a living. I know Connor personally. I have billetted for USA Hockey and I know all the guys. To the man, they would all like to play pro hockey. The OHL is a legitimate way for them to get a lot of ice time and make the move to the NHL. If there was a system like this for football, you would see guys skipping college like crazy. Connor was an honor student at Pioneer while taking AP classes and not the easier load like some others. He qualifies for admission to U of M with or without athletics. Connor is a quality guy from a great family.  When I last talked to him he was very excited about playing for Michigan and couldn't wait. His decision to go to the OHL was only after the draft.

If you've lived with these guys you would see how much time and effort each one puts in. For some, opportunity only comes knocking once. I know this was a terribly difficult decision for him. I love Michigan Hockey but if this is the best thing for Connor, then I support him 100%.

I hope you all know that the

I hope you all know that the same thing is going to happen to Yost. As soon as the season ends they will be doing renovations to the seating. There will be Loge boxes and the current "club seats" will be changed. There will be a PSD for seating.

I am a member of the Victor's Club, I am in the President's club, and I have club seats in football and hockey. I go to games. Many don't, and one can find the club hockey seats mostly vacant despite the fact that they are "sold out". What the University needs to do is to have a way for people to tell them they will not be going to the game and those tickets can be released for re-sale. Since the tickets are "dontated" back to the University for re-sale, we could even get a tax donation out of it for whatever the ticket is sold for.

I would gladly do this rather than putting them on stu hub. I would rather see the box office open an hour before the game to release the tickets for the game for public/student purchase. I think that would be fair. No one will change the fact that those who give the most money will have the most access and best seats. What can change is how to keep those seats from being empty.

I was listening to WTKA

I was listening to WTKA yesterday afternoon and they said that Mitch asked the schools to give him some space so he could make the decision. He wanted last weekend to be free of recruiters. Only one of the three schools did what he wanted. Michigan.

From that, Michigan is probably pretty comfortable with where they are, and are at least showing that if a recruit says "back off" that they listen. It's nice to start a player-coach relationship when you know your coach listens to you. Go Blue Mitch!!

Hey

Hey. Every weekend I try to cut the lawn of the Big House and these kids are running all over it. And then there's all this loud music. Damn It kids. Get off my lawn!! Stop all that loud music. If you want to watch me cut the grass just sit down and be quiet.
