All Time Favorite Michigan Football Players
It has been a recent trend on twitter to post your favorite players of all time for individual sports. Eric Upchurch tweaked this trend on twitter and posted a list that included his favorite michigan football players at each position. Following his lead, I recorded my own list and would love to see what others have. Feel free to copy, paste, and edit the list!
QB - Denard Robinson
RB - Chris Perry
WR - Mario Manningham
TE - Jake Butt
OL - Jake Long
DL - Brandon Graham
LB - Devin Bush
CB - Jourdan Lewis
S - Jabrill Peppers
ST - Steve Breaston/Dennis Norfleet
FB - Chris Floyd
Rob Lytle; BJ Askew
Rob Lytle......
William "Double Chins" Cunningham, 1897-1899.
I only own one sports jersey and it's #16.
No Charles Woodson on the list.
Shame shame....
Probably showing my lack of age on that one...Watched him in the league, but never at Michigan. Shame is probably deserved lol
75 percent of the earth is covered in water. The rest is covered by Charles Woodson.
Wolverine Historian has a great "Charles Woodson Tribute" on You Tube. Watch it and you will get an understanding of how great a player he was a Michigan. Sorry I don't know how to embed.
Absolutely. For me it's Charles and then everybody else.
For us older guys
CB - Ty Law / Charles Woodson
Just for fun - Flanker/Wingback - Ralph Clayton (the poet)
Tyrone Wheatley
QB - Jim Harbaugh
RBs - Ty Wheatley and Butch Woolfolk
WRs - Anthony Carter, Desmond Howard and John Kolesar
TE - Jay Riemersma
OLs - Steve Hutchison (tough as nails) and Stef Humphries
DLs - Mark Messner and Glen Steele
LBs - Andy Cannavino and Erick Anderson
DBs - Charles Woodson, Tripp Wellbourne and Brad Cochran
K - Remy (Knife Into Touchdown Jesus Heart) Hamilton
Fucking Hamilton! That kick against Notre Dame on the road was straight, long, true and pure. Never a doubt when it left his foot...
And how can you not love a kid whose Florida Mom was a bar owner, and named him after Remy Martin cognac.
and goddam fantastic screenname/avatar
Mark Messner is a great choice. For those too young to remember, Messner could dominate a game from the interior DL in much the same way Mo Hurst did last year. And I have no idea what his playing weight was but it was probably around 250 pounds. Just super quick and instinctive.
QB - Denard Robinson
RB - Mike Hart
FB - Khalid Hill
WR - Jeremy Gallon
TE - Jake Butt
OL - Jake Long
DL - Rob Renes
LB - Prescott Burgess
CB - Jourdan Lewis
S - Jordan Kovacs
ST - Steve Breaston
I was too young to watch Howard or Woodson at UM :(
RB - Mike Hart
WR - Mario Manningham or Adrian Arrington, loved them together
TE - Jake Butt
OL - Jake Long
DL - Lamarr Woodley
LB - David Harris
CB - Charles Woodson, this is the only correct answer, you sociopaths
S - Jabrill Peppers or Ernest Shazor, Shazor only had one great season, but he’s the true safety here and he made some big plays that 04 season
ST - Steve Breaston or Peppers, and I also appreciated #ChubbyKicker Garrett Rivas. If Nordin has a great 4 years and maintains his cocky, Wild Thing persona he might end up my favorite. Swag and kickers don’t often mix.
Anthony Carter
Love at first sight
That play is etched in my memory. I never let my wife forget how she left the stadium early to go back and study, while I stayed (we were dating at the time so I didn't start bringing it up until after we were married). She got to somewhere on State St. when she heard The Roar from the stadium and ran into some store that had a TV on. Memories.
But I always liked Armani Toomer, too.
really really enjoyed watching Marquise Walker. He is probably my favorite wide receiver that I have watched at Michigan. The teams he played for weren't all that great, but he was a spectacular college receiver.
he was pretty much the main contributor on offense. He had some blocked kicks on special teams that year too.
Didn't Walker drop a critical pass that would have been a touchdown against OSU in 2001?
your point?
Hoard
Dude was a wrecking ball. If the excellent O-Lines he played behind failed to make a hole, HE would MAKE one.
Leroy had one of my favorite quotes/sayings of all time...
"You need a yard, I'll get you three. You need five yards, I'll get you three.
Also Tarik Black
QB - Jim Harbaugh

WR - Charles Woodson
TE - Jake Butt
OL - Jake Long
DL - Chase Winovich
LB - Dhani Jones
CB - Charles Woodson

ST - Charles Woodson
I live in hope to see a Michigan RB "Biakabutuka" an Ohio State defense again, and soon.
Tim Biakabutuka, Tyrone Wheatley, Gordon Bell, Touchdown Billie Taylor!
There really are... I loved Wheatley growing up but what Tim did to Ohio State... he broke their will that day, simply couldn't be stopped.
No A-Train?
