QB Joe Burrow leaves OSU

Can infer that Haskins is your starting QB, and he very much looked the part last year, and Martell the backup. It will be interesting to see Burrow's landing spot, as many have speculated on Nebraska, but he would most likely have to pay his way there.
No, I would expect that they don't give him a release to a program on their schedule. That's why I mentioned that Burrow would have to pay his way at Nebraska.
That's a good question that I have wondered myself. Never took time to research it or heard an answer from someone who knows.
Under the rules of regular student-athlete transfers, the release is only for scholarship purposes. If you don't get a release to a particular school you can still go there and play as a walk-on, you just have to pay tuition for a year.
Beilein took heat for initially blocking Spike Albrecht from going to Purdue. Coaches seem to generally be allowing grad transfers to go where they like.

I mean Martell is a solid recruit, it isn't an ideal situation but what this means is Haskins clearly won the job coming out of spring and given his limited play so far and the fact that he beat out Burrows the guess is he is really damn good, which is annoying. I would rather Burrows thought he continued to have a shot at starting due to Haskins struggling in spring and them having better depth behind a worse starter.
Doesn't surprise me. Haskins was already shredding us and other teams last year.
Most games are a pretty small sample size individually, but he played in 8 games while logging just 1 game with a QB rating below 160. He threw 2 passes in that game and completed 1.
For reference Peters played 6 games and logged 1 game with QB rating over 160.
You mean he went there to play school? WTF? Classes is pointless!
He didn't play much football, so why not play school?
The writing has been on the wall for Burrow since the second half of the Michigan game. After watching Haskins surgically carve Michigan's secondary up I can't imagine how Meyer could give the job to anyone other than him.
Figures that for OSU, even injuries to their own players somehow work to their benefit....yeah I'm still bitter if you didn't notice.
Seems like he could have done better.
Don't tell me that you guys count Tom Brady Super Bowl wins as Michigan wins. You don't claim Andrew Luck as yours do you?
Who cares about how Urban's QBs have done in the NFL. The only stat that matters is his 6-0 record vs Michigan. Tressel's QBs sucked in the NFL too. But who cares. What was the sweater vest's record in The Game? Something like 10-1 I think.
Let's just say that Ohio State being #2 all time to USC in number of first round NFL draft picks and the total number of Ohio State NFL draft picks since 2012 (surpassed only by Bama and LSU, I believe) speaks for itself.
I can only imagine how pathetic your life is. I'm sure watching teenagers play with a ball on a field is a good distraction from the trailer park, but please don't take it out on us. This board is already terrible enough as is without cooler poopers beating their chest about a school they didn't attend being good at ballsports.
to you sir. That was a good Internet body slam. Lol.
I don't live in a trailer park and never attended a prestigious public university. I do much prefer college football over the flag-disrespecting NFL variety, but I'm also a Browns fan.
We all know Tom's numbers and you're right, what he does at NE reflects on the school but is not part of our tradition. However, part of your's, a large, very large part is the number of violations The Vest tallied. And what does your piss for a brain qb do during the Car Gate in Columbus. Duh, the cameras are here. I think I'll show them this new car I'm driving this fucking month. I mean the decision of the more prestigous program - win within the rules - is over the second you ask yourself, UM or OSU? Now kindly get the fuck out of here and don't you ever come back.
Fuck off asshole

"many have speculated on Nebraska, but he would most likely have to pay his way there."
Is it really that big of a deal for a kid to pay his own tuition? Most of us took on student loans for four years or more. I'd think he could manage to pay for two semesters himself if Nebrska presented the best transfer opportunity.
School aint cheap is all I have got to say. Why break the bank if you can get in somewhere for free? He should never have went to OSU is the real moral of the story.
I would guess he could find a very good landing spot, where he can attend school for free. Why would you pay for it in that case?
shows that to attend Nebraska out of state with room and board would be close to 40k. You're saying its better for him to do that for 2 years rather then go to another school where it could/should be free? That makes zero sense. Plus hes a pocket qb, Frost does not run a traditional pro style offense.
I was not insinuating that it was a big deal. Just pointing out that Meyer would most likely block in conference, which would mean Burrow could not be on scholarship at Nebraska.
There it is again. Sorry, but that's a loser's mentality dude. That throw to Austin Mack wasn't luck. That was a back shoulder laser into double coverage where only the WR could catch it. The 22 yard run was a good read of the DE. And come on, you can't be seriously comparing Michigan's defense to Purdue's defense. Weren't you guys top 3, maybe #1, last year whereas Purdue was what, maybe top 50?
You make a very good point, however. It's easy for Ohio State fans to read way too much into Haskins' Michigan game performance given his mid-game insertion. As Catchafire mentions below, my biggest concerns with Haskins is once Big Ten DCs get film on him and start to game plan, then we'll see how good he is. But the same can be said for Burrow and Patterson and is the reason why Saban is working hard to keep Hurts from transferring. Tagovailoa looked great, but also real bad, in the second half of the championship game, but UGA had no film on him.
If you compare JTB's TD to INT ratios from first half of the season to second half the last two years, it really declines precipitously. Part of that is becasue his legs were shot by second half of the year, but the other was DCs had the film on him. Going into the Iowa game last year, JT had thrown 25 TDs to 2 INTs. Everyone knows what happened at Iowa and I think he threw something like 8 TDs to 8 INTs the second half of the year.
I feel good about Haskins. He's talented. His ability to excel in the vertical passing game is going to stretch the field, something we haven't had since Jones rolled over Wisky, Bama, and Oregon. This will also benefit Dobbins and Weber, as it did Zeke. And he's been in the system now going into his third year. Patterson is equally, perhaps more, talented, but he's a transfer who will have to learn a new system. Something not easy for a college QB, and a system that is noted for its NFL-like complexity in calls and reads for the QB. He hasn't had to do that running the spread system at Ole Miss.
go away
Not to mention the uncalled holds that helped... sigh.
I don't doubt for a second that Haskins will be a highly capable QB, but anyone who thinks he's just going to walk all over Don Brown's defense is mistaken. Going by recent trends, the Buckeyes should be very worried if Michigan figures out how to put up some points this upcoming season.
you guys are making it too easy ......
I hope all their players transfer.
