Following notification of this change, the University of Mississippi promptly reached out to the University of Michigan to discuss how these new standards could impact the University of Mississippi's support of a transfer student-athlete's desire to compete immediately at the University of Michigan. The University of Mississippi and the University of Michigan have worked together over the last several days in conjunction with the NCAA national office staff, and with a focus on the best interest of the student-athlete, to put forward a new waiver application. That new application was submitted this week by the University of Michigan and supported by both schools. The University of Michigan has withdrawn its previous waiver application and all associated materials in favor of this new, cooperative approach based on facts which all parties agree to. The waiver has now been approved by the NCAA and thus football student-athlete Shea Patterson will be eligible to compete in the 2018-19 academic year.

This news has to be hugely energizing for the entire team. Everyone saw what the fans saw last year: very poor QB play sabotaged the entire season. Now they know that they’ll have an extremely talented, charismatic gunslinger at the position. A leader. The sky’s the limit.

QB play has been an issue since Chad Henne graduated, honestly. That's just ridiculous.. especially at Michigan. I know what you mean tho, during the Harbaugh era having a great QB could have lead to something special. The Rodriguez and Hoke years we still had a lot of other issues besides QB.

When I said it was Ole Miss holding things up

Man, I’m just happy he’s playing for us this year. Tear it up Shea. Become a Michigan man and legend

I refuse to watch any practice highlights or hype videos because it will cause me to lose sleep, ignore my wife and five kids, and play NCAA 14 nonstop until we tee it up in South Bend.

There will be an article today or tomorrow that will speculate that it's title or bust for Harbaugh because he'll have the best roster on campus in over a decade, maybe two decades.  I will refuse to read this article because it will be pure speculation, yet probably true.

This is great news to start the weekend! I’m hopeful and excited that we might see a good passing game next fall. Feels like it’s been a long time since we had much of a passing game. Really need the O line to progress as well.

We got the QB everyone wanted. We upgraded our OL coaching. Our young WRs have more game experience. And we have El Dudo Grande directing the D. Winning the B1G East is the minimum we should expect.
