Following notification of this change, the University of Mississippi promptly reached out to the University of Michigan to discuss how these new standards could impact the University of Mississippi's support of a transfer student-athlete's desire to compete immediately at the University of Michigan. The University of Mississippi and the University of Michigan have worked together over the last several days in conjunction with the NCAA national office staff, and with a focus on the best interest of the student-athlete, to put forward a new waiver application. That new application was submitted this week by the University of Michigan and supported by both schools. The University of Michigan has withdrawn its previous waiver application and all associated materials in favor of this new, cooperative approach based on facts which all parties agree to. The waiver has now been approved by the NCAA and thus football student-athlete Shea Patterson will be eligible to compete in the 2018-19 academic year.

Well, it's pretrty clear why confidence was so high in the Fort. Ole Miss surrendered with terms.

I was wrong about this. I thought Speight's departure was a vote of confidence in Peters/McCaffrey. Now, it's possible that one or both of those guys will be great. But the feel around the outside of the program seems to make it clear that Shea is good and is likely to start. So he appears to be a clear step up, and that this is huge news for the program tells us what an issue the QB situation was to be going forward.

And, no question, this is great news.

Go Blue! Great news! Are some of the summer practices open to the public to watch? Would love to take my grandkids down to AA to watch these guys practice!

Go Blue! What a great kickoff to the weekend! “Told ya so” peeps (that he wouldn’t be eligible), where ya at? Damn, I wish the schedule (particularly on the road) wasn’t so daunting, but we can worry about that later. #hail

and the University of Mississippi would like to reiterate that Mineral King had no inside knowledge of the negotiations between the two schools and in fact merely happened to pick the correct outcome in what was basically a coin-flip scenario.

Seems like UM sent in an initial milk toast request for eligibility to be kind. Ole Miss tried to call our bluff and objected to this respectful request. UM updated the request with the real information, bringing all their shadiness to light. Ole Miss cried “uncle!”

They had a liability and credibility hole from the start, and they knew it. They chose to deny everything until the NCAA told them they were going to lose and the previous application and its attendant documentation was going to be part of the public record. I hate that the NCAA let them plea down for the good of their own PR message.

Ole Miss objected with Patterson's assessment that he had been misled by the school and Hugh Freeze.

The revised agreement allowed Patterson to gain his eligibility in exchange for removing language from his appeal that there was "egregious behavior" by Ole Miss.

This would essentially allow both parties to walk away without animus.

Ole Miss - We know we're dirty, everyone else knows we're dirty, but if you just don't shout it out so loud, we'll agree with the waiver
