Brian, all due respect, there are victims of your football and basketball teams that will come out shortly. They, too, were denied justice as police favored the athletes.

“Crisis Management 101: Total failure in leadership” Lou Ann Simon sat at her desk on a cold afternoon and contemplated the challenges of handling a massive sexual abuse issue in her athletic department. First she jotted down 65 ways to completely abdicate her leadership position ...

How she and the board didn’t see this as inevitable from the off is stunning to me. After the first day of victim impact statements it was clear to everyone but her and the board that this was it for them. Her appearance at court on day two is one of the more misguided and craven PR stunts I’ve ever seen

because they couldn't find someone for interim. (Wonder why?) There's some statement out there now about "looking for someone to begin the healing" which suggests that they still aren't getting it. (Grim reminders of PSU.) The interim should be charged with NOTHING but figuring out what happened, where culpability lies, cleaning house, instituting strict measures, swearing to become a national model of how to handle something you have so brutally fucked up. Whoever follows--quite some way down the road--can talk about healing. MSU might not recover in our lifetimes.

As of this moment, no. There are no reports, so far, that clearly incriminate her of anything but being a shitty leader. That said, justice can be a slow and metbodical process. Be patient, grasshopper. I am starting to have faith that the truth...at least much of it...will come out and enablers will face the scales of justice.

SHAME ON YOU!!!  Hope you have trouble sleeping at night.  Horrific story.  I hope others across the country who may be ignoring similar things in their institutions wake up.

The comment she made around "I dont think I can fit this into my schedule" when one of the victims personally asked her to show up to her testimony said everything I need to know about that BITCH.

It said more to me that despite all of the coverage, she couldn't name any victims.  Not any of the Olympians who made national news when they announced their abuse at Nassar's hands, not Lindsey Lemke who captained MSU's gymnastics team a year ago and is now an undergraduate assistant, not Rachael Denhollander who was the lightning rod leading to all of these women coming forward and the prosecution's star witness (she DEMOLISHED defense counsel at the preliminary hearing, which even more than the child porn I think forced the plea).  She didn't know a single one.

One incident is enough to have gotten rid of Nassar.  What does scope have to do with it?
The timing is bowing to the inevitable, and is as classy as Nixon's resignation.

Classy will be pleading guilty to her crimes and taking the jail time.

Agreed that I wouldn’t expect her to admit anything but doubling down on the “politicization” is precisely the wrong move. All she had to say is that in light of the events she is no longer able to serve effectively. Instead she took the same idiotic stance of that trustee and made a bad situation worse.
