05/13/2018 - 2:06pm I think in this case DiNardo

I think in this case DiNardo is right but for the wrong reasons. Putting Shea in a spread/pro-style hybrid (which, for anyone who actually watches a lot of football, those labels are nearly devoid of all meaning at this point) is not foreign at all to Harbaugh, who's had several mobile quarterbacks succeed in his system (Luck and Kaepernick come to mind most prominently). And, it's unfair to say that it's been a mess since Harbaugh got here. 2015 at year-end and most of 2016 looked pretty well-oiled relative to the crap we'd gotten used to under Hoke the year before (in spite of some of the posters above, who don't understand that the oblong ball sometimes bounces in ways you really don't like, that 2016 team was easily top 5 in the country).

But last year? Last year looked like disorganized grabass at times. Late in the season, you'd get busts (especially from the O line and QB spots) that you'd expect to get ironed out in spring or fall camp. I think DiNardo fails to point out the fundamental issues here, which appear to me to be cohesive OL and QB development. And I realize we had a young team with some nasty key injuries on offense but the lows those units plumbed was pretty damn low.

05/13/2018 - 1:53pm I mean, is he wrong? Last

I mean, is he wrong? Last year was a complete shitshow on offense, no? It's on Jim to prove the media wrong, not the other way around

Dekett, is that you? Homer Simpson?

05/12/2018 - 12:52pm Is it just me or is cheating

Is it just me or is cheating on a cfb risk game the most UF thing of all time?

05/07/2018 - 1:31pm I’ll tell you which I’m most

I’ll tell you which I’m most nervous about and that’s Nebraska. Those boys hit so hard they’ll knock you into next week

05/03/2018 - 4:36pm Pettiness seems like a

Pettiness seems like a possible explanation, and I hope that’s the case. I just wish they’d shut the fuck up about it and let him play if it is, no need to keep trashing the kid if your team missed out

05/03/2018 - 2:19pm Why do you assume scouts have

Why do you assume scouts have some mysterious conspiracy to keep hurst down? If they thought he was a good value, low risk pick, they would have just taken him in the draft. I think at a minimum we can assume nfl teams will act in their own perceived self interest so I have to think scouts truly believed there was an issue

05/03/2018 - 1:39pm This coverage really bothers

This coverage really bothers me. The not so subtle implication is that Michigan was endangering him by clearing / playing him, which if that’s wrong is unfair to the Michigan football program but if that’s right it means we’re prioritizing on-field results over player safety. I hope it’s the former but I’m not super comfortable with the implications of either

05/02/2018 - 6:54pm I think my frustration is not

I think my frustration is not so much that Harbaugh has made a single mistake in hiring 2 OL coaches with unclear roles and responsibilities, it's that he seems to have made several mistakes that took form last year to create a pretty bad offense, all things considered:

1) Promoting 2 OL coaches and switching rushing schemes mid-way through the year

2) Failing to teach the offensive line to pick up rudimentary (for the college game) twists and stunts that would be required learning whether you're running a gap or zone blocking scheme in the running game

3) Failing to hire a bona fide WR coach in a year where we'd be starting multiple freshman WRs (add to this the fact that the sophomores didn't appear to develop much at all)

4) Failing to properly recruit the offensive tackle position

I'm encouraged that he seems to have learned from each of those mistakes, but that is a lot of screw-ups for someone who's specialty is the offensive side of the ball, and some of them seem fairly obvious and avoidable in hindsight. I think he will get it turned around but that kind of poor performance is a bit surprising from someone of Coach Harbaugh's caliber and dedication.

No! Please don’t go! What will we do without your contribution to the discourse??

04/26/2018 - 11:04pm Also comparing him to Malik

Also comparing him to Malik Hooker makes no sense, they don’t even really play the same position. Do you compare Billy Price to whoever plays LT for you guys? Wouldn’t make much sense would it?

04/26/2018 - 11:00pm The nfl is moving towards

The nfl is moving towards more RPOs and option plays and you think an LB/safety hybrid doesn’t have a fit in NFL defenses? Huh?

04/25/2018 - 3:30pm By my count Nebraska is about

By my count Nebraska is about our 6-7th most difficult game, so if we’re supposed to be running scared from them next year we’re really screwed

I hope Orgeron fails. Shitbag of a coach who shut us out of satellite camps who can’t even muster an articulate sentence

04/15/2018 - 5:32pm I’m just sayin, crowning a kid

I’m just sayin, crowning a kid based on a 50% completion percentage and some long passes in a spring game is extremely premature. But if you want to crown their ass then crown them /Dennis Green’d

04/15/2018 - 3:02pm If we can just project based

If we can just project based off of a spring game we should retroactively award Brandon Peters the Heisman last year

04/15/2018 - 3:01pm And yet he has more actual

And yet he has more actual experience than any of the QBs mentioned in the OP, so...

04/14/2018 - 3:19pm This kind of stuff is almost

This kind of stuff is almost unfathomable. Anyone with ties to MSU should be mortified that he’s handling things like this. What in the hell is he thinking? Even if he were trying to be completely self-serving he would not be behaving this way. What a moron

04/10/2018 - 5:07pm Good. They should be publicly

Good. They should be publicly shamed for this garbage, and it seems like they are. Good on the media for not letting this die down quietly

04/03/2018 - 8:42am The Duncan Robinson one seems

The Duncan Robinson one seems pretty legit, haha. Makes a lot of logical sense too (if he’s hitting you’re getting good minutes from a bench player and probably stretching the floor with his 3 shooting)

04/02/2018 - 5:58pm I’m certainly no expert but

I’m certainly no expert but best guess: he has the offensive skills but lacks requisite athleticism to play defense and grab boards at the 5 in the nba. Think he’d be a bit of a liability on defense

Well, that escalated quickly...

03/30/2018 - 9:00am These kinds of changes seem

These kinds of changes seem fine and nice and fun to write about in fluff pieces but don’t really move the needle for me. Chase not liking the omelettes and Karan not hugging Harbaugh weren’t the problem last year. Failing to recruit capable tackles, not having a WR coach with like 20 freshman WRs on the roster, failing to teach the OL to pick up simple stunts and twists, and failing to develop a single QB on the roster were the problems, and we all know it. Now, it seems he’s fixed most or all of those - but that is the real story to me.

Oh God I can’t believe I forgot about that. Like one man bun wasn’t annoying enough, jeez

03/18/2018 - 3:32pm Their fans were extremely

Their fans were extremely annoying. From that, to mocking Z’s height (amongst other FT shooting chants), to the man bun and all his whining for calls, to general dislike of Kelvin Sampson... I don’t like that team and I’m more than happy we got to knock them out of the tourney in the most painful way possible. Do more, say less my friends.

03/04/2018 - 7:11pm Agreed, I went as well.

Agreed, I went as well. Awesome fun, loud, and extremely slanted towards Michigan.

02/19/2018 - 7:34pm Two things confuse me about

Two things confuse me about all this - wonder if you have any insight. Why is Drev on the staff running OL, when our OL has been mediocre at best since he’s been here, and Warriner presided over some of the most face-mashing OL units at OSU? Also, why do we need a QB coach in Pep when we have Jim Harbaugh? Isn’t one of the big draws for QB recruits getting coached by Harbaugh? (Or should I read between the lines and this means Pep really isn’t doing much of import any longer?)

02/18/2018 - 4:34pm Tbh I think if you have to

Tbh I think if you have to ask then it’s not muppets. Muppets to me is a lot like pornography; I maybe can’t perfectly define it, but I know it when i see it

02/18/2018 - 3:39pm I saw that too and got super

I saw that too and got super confused. I was yelling at my phone like “who travels in that situation dammit just win the game” and then we got the ball back haha

02/15/2018 - 12:02pm Interesting. I sort of wonder

Interesting. I sort of wonder why Drevno is the one with a coaching position and Warriner is the analyst... I'd feel pretty good about the offense's prospects next year if Warriner got the bump to OL coach and Drevno got bumped further down and/or fired, but what do I know

02/13/2018 - 6:46pm If their faculty starts

If their faculty starts leaving in droves and their national academic standing falls (further than it already is), they could be in some serious trouble

02/13/2018 - 6:45pm Few things that should be

Few things that should be clarified here. I'm fairly certain I've heard / read the following:

1) MSU was not targeted by ESPN. ESPN has been FOIA-ing multiple schools for several years in an effort to get more data on these types of issues. It just so happens that MSU turned out to have a lot of issues when they started digging

2) The final story may have been timed up with Nassar in the end, but by most accounts it would have been released a long time ago if MSU had been forthcoming with the documents initially and hadn't slowed the process by stonewalling and (I think) suing ESPN over the documents request

02/12/2018 - 4:37pm My understanding is Brian has

My understanding is Brian has a fairly long-standing and serious beef with Scott Frost’s mom. I’m not sure when or why it originated, though.

Nice! Welcome aboard

02/04/2018 - 8:38pm Glad to see there are some

Glad to see there are some adults in that organization. It makes sense, too. The faculty doesn’t typically give two shits about athletics and all these news stories are potentially harmful to their long term academic careers. The average professor probably stands to gain the most by a comprehensive athletics house cleaning
