UPDATE: Found and safe. Texas A&M Reporter for Rivals Goes Missing, Possibly Abducted

Submitted by FauxMo on

Obviously OT, but related to college football... a female reporter for Rivals covering Texas A&M was on her way back from a football camp when she texted her roommate that someone was following her. Her car had been broken into some time prior as well, making her nervous. Her mother received this cryptic and horrifying text from her phone: "hello the owner of this phone Courtney. I am buying an iPad."

I hope she's found safe. This is weird and scary stalker stuff, it sounds like...

UPDATE (via Seth): She was found and is okay. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2018/01/08/rivals-com…

the answer is yes, for years. usually in the varrio, and usually the most wild of circs.  most common form was cigarettes dipped in PCP, called sherms.  but we would occasionally come across it in liquid form in jars, etc.  the eyes of PCP users are different, their pupils are wild too, almost twitching but called hippus.  it got so i could smell it from a distance, same with meth.  i should've been a bird dog....

Far as I'm concerned, the creep that finds it okay to take someone against thier will, is the creep that nobody would miss when he's gone.  Removing that from the gene pool doesn't seem like a large problem, to me.  Especially if the 'remover' is the attempted victim.

Care to share your magical alternatives, Cool Guy?  You can teach women all the self defense techniques under the sun (which I think is great to do), but it will still fall short when a woman is attacked by a much larger and often deranged individual....who, by the way, will most likely be armed himself.

Honest question: have you killed someone? Because I knew a guy who killed Nazis, and even he blinked a few times and had a pretty hard time with it. And, remember, he was shooting Nazis who weren’t just threatening him, but shooting bullets about him in all directions.

But just once, I would love to see someone making that choice admit that statistically, owning a gun makes you either no safer or, more likely, less safe.

Just ask Jamie Gilt, gun ownership advocate and proprietor of "Jamie Gilt for Gun Sense," who almost got offed by her 4 year old a few hours after a gun advocacy meeting in the clear winner of "Most Ironic and Probably Karmically-Deserved Shootin'" of 2016. LINK

Broader statistical studies discussed here: LINK

or here LINK or here LINK or here LINK etc. etc. etc.

Frightening stuff. It's also a good reminder that if you ever believe you are being followed, do NOT go home. It's tempting because it's supposed to be safe and it can be a very unnerving experience, but the best place you can go is a police station.

It's an issue. The Katy Mills Mall by me in Katy has had some woman attacked in the parking lot with the one person distracts move and another comes from behind a car. My wife and kids won't go to a mall without me now.

Just to add, this was a really strange disappearance and may have been voluntary. She was seen at the Galleria just before 6:00PM yesterday by herself, after all her belongings and vehicle had been revcovered. Not to speculate, but she may have been having a mental breakdown of some sorts. It will be interesting to see if any more details are released.

UPDATE: Our officers have found Ms. Roland in the Galleria area. She appears unharmed. She'll be taken to an area hospital for an evaluation. We are not providing the location where she was found or hospital at this time. More info to follow. #HouNews

Some of the comments to the article are quite something - I.e ignorant. I’ll save you the read: “should have dressed more modestly, wore less make up”.

I think that the comment section of just about any widely-read, free website is going to have pretty much the same ignorant, stupid comments.  Fox News is no different.  Plenty of crazies out there, and they all love to comment on the internet - check out Fox, CNN, MSNBC, or even a non-political page like ESPN or M-Live.  Lots of crazies out there.

Any comment on there is a political argument waiting to happen. People will comment their extreme beliefs on there in hope that they will gain emotional satisfaction by seeing other people agree with them.
