Check in if you’re already over it

F*** 2017. F*** that bowl game. It’s over. It’s done. Next year will be much better! The players will be faster, stronger, and smarter. The coaches will call better games. 2018 will be a team we can all be proud of! 8-5 will be this regime’s floor. Not 3-9. Not 4-8. 8-5 is as low as we go, and we just got through it! Sign in if you’re optimistic, because the alternative is for losers! GO BLUE REGARDLESS!

Go back and look at that season though.. we should have lost to Indiana. Same with this year.. With the qb injuries we had this year it sucked, but almost all of our mistakes were made by young underclassmen. Next year we will have tarik back along with everyone else and getting nick eubanks will be big too. Obviously a qb has to emerge, but harbaugh isn't stupid he knows the offense is a joke. If he doesnt this staff will go down fast

Im over this year. In the end one less loss than expected and a shitty bowl game. I am worried about Harbaugh’s offense and lack of identity. By now even if bad it should have an identity

I love rooting for my school but except for the thrills I get w wins and great stories ( like the orange hair money cannon) it doesn't affect my life.

I’m pretty much over it. Tomorrow will suck when I have to go back to work and some idiot will say something about the game even though they probably didn’t even watch it. I have faith Harbaugh will get this turned around his track record says he knows how to coach.

I’m a very bitter person. I can still complain about a loss from 25 years ago. But I’ll deal and go on with my life. The only football I’m looking forward to is seeing Tom Brady win another Super Bowl.

But his NFL success doesn't do much for me as a Michigan fan. Had he been a great QB for Michigan, I would probably be more excited about him winning another super bowl (which he will). That's our fu*king luck - the greatest QB of all time played for Michigan but he essentially sucked while doing it.

I've read a large number of completely idiotic statements on MGoBlog in the last 9+ years, and that's right up at the top. Jesus Goddamn Christ you're a fucking moron if you actually think that Tom Brady "essentially sucked" while playing here.

My HS alma mater came into the 2018 calendar year with a 30-game basketball losing streak. As of about 15 minutes ago, it is over!

We've also lost 35 consecutive football games. That ends this year too!

Optimism!

Nope. I am able to go on about my life and I know Harbaugh is the right man for the job, but I think there are legit concerns about this team for next season and the bowl game did not help in that regard.

Significant changes will need to be made next year to get over the 8-4/9-3 hump next year.

Over. Football as a whole has become a much smaller part of my existence in recent years and I thought that would increase my passion for UM football as it is essentially all I follow now...oddly the opposite seems to have happened.  Just a fickle fan--maybe. Defense mechanism--maybe.

Almost all of Harbaugh's recruits are Freshmen or Sophomores and quite a few of them are playing very well. The defensive side of the ball has been stellar and should be as good as 2017 if not better next year. Hoke didn't leave the cupboard bare but offensive talent was definitely lacking. Jim didn't have much to work with at QB and made a great move to get Rudock for 2015. Speight played ok for 2 years but injuries ended both of his seasons prematurely. O'Korn tried but was bad and Peters either still isn't ready or isn't what the recruiting experts thought he was. Patterson could be the answer and McCaffrey is still an unknown entity. We don't know if our QB play and lack of performance from the running backs was all on the o-line or not, but we certainly had weaknesses there. Harbaugh has recruited well and the talent will continue to get better with each class we add. A significant amount of turnover in the assistant coaches has also added to the problems and we need some stability there. I've been a fan all my life and have had season tickets for 41 years and I'm not going anywhere. I get more upset than I probably should and make comments I later regret, but I'm still a true blue Michigan fan. Go Blue

Over it.  Would have been nice but makes zero difference for 2018.  Silver lining is that perhaps it helps effect change on offensive coaching sooner.

Ya I mean I’m over it, my entire life watching Michigan football since I can remember (1999 on) has almost always felt like high expectations that weren’t met in the end (although the VT bowl game Year was super fun for me). Can’t see the team doing much better than 9-3 next year but it is what it is!

II had a jabroni ask me when Harbaugh's job would  in jeopardy.  He'd been listening to talk radio and holy shit how dumb are people.  He doesn't know much about college football,  but Harbaugh's been here three years and has two ten win seasons.  Jabroni didn't seem to know that.  Does no one mention this on talk radio?

Yes third in the division.  That's what happens when you finish #12 and have two teams in the top 10 in front of you, and again when you finish #10 and have the same.  Is #12 and #10 pretty good in years one and two? Yes it is.  This year sucked, it's the floor.

We were top 5 in S & P Harbaugh's first two years. This year was hopefully just a blip all round (on field and with recruiting).

Sometimes coaches have down years. Look at Meyer in his final year with Florida. Dantonio last year. This was probably Harbaugh's and he'll bounce back and bring in a lot of new staff members.

it's fine if we hear shit fro. fans of other programs but let's stop talking shit here. We all love the program and are disappointed but talking negative does nothing. let's move on and look forward to next year.

I was probably over it by 8 PM or so on Monday. It's easy to compartmentalize losses really.

As mentioned earlier, I am rather glad we spent the last day or so getting all the 2017 tropes out of our collective system. We can face 2018 with the hope that some of the more pressing questions get answered and, like the fans that we are on the blog, our normal guarded optimism.

It's going to be an interesting spring and summer, but we'll be here processing it all like we normally do.

I’m over it. Not gonna do me much good to dwell on it. Yesterday though, I was bummed until bedtime. Just looking forward to how the team responds top to bottom. I hope they’re ready for the domers come September.

If you can accept 4-5 losses every season then yes I’m over it. Damn it I thought Harbaugh was the messiah.......that’s why it hurts so bad....with Hoke it was not that surprising. Can’t we have nice things? Go Blue 2018

Our struggles over the last 15 years have made me numb to all of this. Am I disappointed we're not further along in year 3? Sure, but we were extremely young and I think we'll look back on this year as a minor blip. Jim Harbaugh is still the only person I want coaching Michigan.

went like the season. High hopes early to falling apart later. I expected us to beat ourselves on offense......again like most of the year.

Not mad at the lost...just how we lost but this team is very young....we will be fine. Last two times our coach was entering a fourth year...he was on the hot seat and hell Rich Rod was gone at this point. It’s nice to have stability again. The big wins will come.

Not over it...Haven't been over it for the last 10+ years because we haven't won a Big Ten Championship. Once that happens...then I'll get over it

Count me in... the difference between 9-4 and 8-5? As Brian says, ‘whatever,’ they both suck. However, with respect to the 2018 season, my glass-half-full self asks these 3 questions: 1) what bowl outcome will ensure a legitimate QB competition (without an incumbent to unseed)? 2) what bowl outcome will most likely motivate the necessary offensive staff changes? 3) what bowl outcome will result in highly motivated offseason workouts? Yes, this loss will result in a long, unpleasant offseason filled with self doubt and criticism. Channeled appropriately however, one could argue that this was the best outcome for the 2018 season, and beyond.

I’m over it. It is what it is, this season fucking sucked, time to move on with life. I’m with Brian, maybe we’ll be better next year, maybe not, I’ll watch and cheer my ass off either way. Still, would’ve liked it if he put a little more effort into his column today. Just because Drevno and Pep mailed it in doesn’t mean he should. Go blue!
