This is why Teske should start the game in East Lansing on the bench.  After the first two BS ticky-tack fouls are awarded to Davis in the first 3 minutes, sub in Teske.

Is there such a thing as a KEY shot in a 15 pt victory? That was it!

I believe that the basis for our disappointment is largely the expectations that we had for OSU’s performance which were set As a result  of their play against Purdue and Maryland among others. Unfortunately, that is not the Buckeye team that showed up at the ‘shoe on Saturday. Emerging from the tunnel instead was the team that was ranked #3 in ESPN’s preseason power rankings — loaded with 4 and 5 star talent. Viewed thru that lens, with the benefit of hindsight, we should not have been surprised.

As the season progresses, I would like to see that move evolve into a shot fake followed by an up an under reverse layup off the glass. Was my favorite move back in the day — albeit against MUCH softer, shorter, slower competition. #bcourtallstar ;-)

I figured I wouldn’t be the only one to notice this... got me thinking, what does a safety look like in OT considering that they start in the other side’s territory (it’s not like the are pinned inside their own 5)? An unsuccessful -65 yd scramble, ala Devin G? (Ok, so maybe he never had one lose THAT many yards) Perhaps an interception or fumble recovery  that ALMOST goes all the way until it is fumbled before crossing the goal line, bounces in, is recovered by the other side and unsuccessfully attempted to be brought back out? Others?

The speed from the youngsters is evident and fun to watch night in and night out. Ideal scenario is that Kenny H leads us to the #1 overall pick and Stevie Y selects young Hughes as his first act as our new GM. LGRW!

I think that for quarterbacks especially, it is beginning to look like the NBA math. It’s not so much about the value of the rookie deal as much as it is about getting a year closer to your 2nd contract which, for QB’s is what, $20M a year?

Y’all are in luck. There is currently a 1980 model in Florida listed on eBay with a starting price of $550k and a buy it now of $599k. Would paste the link but I have no idea how — especially from phone.

Let the bidding commence!

I actually think that Zach has a bright future. The guy brings an opinion, backs it up with facts and doesn’t take any shit from Spath.

03/20/2018 - 7:02pm Can we please just get off of the ‘miracle’ tag?

‘Incredible’ perhaps. ‘Unlikely’ maybe. A ‘miracle’ shot is one that was intended as a pass, is deflected by one defender, bounces off the head of another before skipping in off the front of the rim. It most certainly is not one that was more or less swished — on a shot that he INTENDED to take, from a play that was designed and has been run before. Calling it a ‘miracle’ sounds like your Spartan co-worker trying to degrade the victory.

02/25/2018 - 10:43pm Don’t be afraid of Asian Malt Whiskey

My first exposure to malt whiskey was Junior year (in college) when my roommate and I decided to split a bottle of Dewar’s to see what it was all about. By the time we got to the bottom of the bottle we agreed, ‘not bad.’ Since then, I’ve had the good fortune through my travels to try a number of those mentioned in this thread from the duty free — which can be a good value, either because of the bigger bottles or the ‘cask strength’ typically available there. Lagavulin 16 is far and away my favorite but for half the price Laphroaig 10 is a great option. Most duty free shops offer a selection of Japanese single malts from Nikki and Suntory. Among these, The Yamazaki is pretty much the standard. I believe Suntory Hibiki 17 (blended) is the brand of Bill Murray fame (Lost in Translation). While living in Shanghai a few years back, I discovered a Taiwanese malt whiskey called KaVaLan. I thought it was fantastic. Turns out it is critically acclaimed. Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it.

01/18/2018 - 9:26pm Preferred Seed Line?

Been thinking about this lately. Given our likely seed in the 4,5,6,7 range, is there a preferred position? Is lower necessarily better? I ask this question under the assumption that we can hang with anyone who is not a 1 seed. That being the case we obviously want to put off facing the 1 in our bracket until we absolutely have to (duh) but would we be willing to face a 2 or a 3 earlier in order to make this happen? When we do face the one for instance, on the second weekend, would we want to face them in the first game where both teams have a week to prepare or in the second game with a short turnaround? Actually, I like Belein in both instances but would prefer to give the opposition as little time as possible for UM specific preparation. That being the case, could a 7 seed actually be better than a 6? A 5 better than a 4? Is there conventional wisdom on this — other than lower is better, and avoid the 8/9 line?

01/18/2018 - 8:59pm Couldn’t agree more

When my company’s Research dept is doing modeling or forecasting for me, the first things that I want to see after the results are the factors and the weighting. These can be the most instructive insights for improving the real-life outcomes.

01/16/2018 - 8:47pm Beat me to it

‘Win the Game’ works on many levels. Perhaps the whole thing is rendered in MGoScript or maybe just the ‘m’ is the block ]V[

01/12/2018 - 10:24pm 5-3!

What a spectacular individual effort! Was nervous when we lost the draw.

01/12/2018 - 9:26pm Uniforms? Broadcast?

It pains me to say this but our uniforms are among the ugliest I have ever seen in any sport, at any level. The pants, on their own, might be kinda fly in a retro sort of way but with the rest of the kit I am just not feeling it.

Is FSD showing the Minnesota feed? The announcers are so unabashedly pro-Gopher that I can’t think of any other explanation. Gonna have to turn the sound down.

01/08/2018 - 9:06pm Sticks

As someone who has now played hockey into his 50’s, I’ve always believed that fighting in hockey — at all levels from the pros to the beer leagues — is necessary because the players (combatants) all carry weapons (sticks). If you are not responsible with your stick, you are going to get your ass kicked — if not by me, then by my enforcer buddy.

01/05/2018 - 10:59pm ‘PHIL’

... from Atlanta. Probably better suited for basketball analysis though.

01/02/2018 - 9:47pm Impact on the 18 Season?

Count me in... the difference between 9-4 and 8-5? As Brian says, ‘whatever,’ they both suck. However, with respect to the 2018 season, my glass-half-full self asks these 3 questions: 1) what bowl outcome will ensure a legitimate QB competition (without an incumbent to unseed)? 2) what bowl outcome will most likely motivate the necessary offensive staff changes? 3) what bowl outcome will result in highly motivated offseason workouts? Yes, this loss will result in a long, unpleasant offseason filled with self doubt and criticism. Channeled appropriately however, one could argue that this was the best outcome for the 2018 season, and beyond.

12/26/2017 - 9:12pm Replacement?

...question is, who will be his replacement?

12/26/2017 - 9:11pm Not Surprised

He seemed to have checked out from the MZone some time ago. Always enjoyed him more on Rays of Light in the morning. His chemistry with Sam was markedly better.

12/26/2017 - 8:33pm So hard to pick just 3

1) Bell’s Third Coast Old Ale

2) New Holland’s Dragon’s Milk

3) Rochester’s Milk Shake Stout

As other’s have noted, more than one or two of 1) or 2) above and you better have a pillow nearby and NOT your car keys. The lactose added to 3) Rochester’s Stout does indeed give it a milkshake (mouth) feel. I think that Rochester is unheralded but brews some well-balanced brews.

12/16/2017 - 4:41pm 'Unfollow'

Seems simple enough to me and requires no additional work on the part of the mods: provide readers the opportunity to 'unfollow' or hide posts/comments from posters that they don't want to hear from. Website design is far from my area of expertise so I have no idea what mechanics are involved but FB and Twitter provide this functionality so certainly it is possible.

12/02/2017 - 9:16am 4 Year Scholarship

I agree with this. The scholarship commitment is for four years. The 5th year should be negotiable -- for BOTH parties.

11/27/2017 - 3:17pm Officiating

Balanced and accurate officiating -- including instant replay. Just once. Seriously.

11/26/2017 - 9:19pm Pipkins, Ondre

Sometimes the medical staff and the football staff are not in agreement. I'm not suggesting that they would do this for scholarship limit motivations but rather to protect the player and the program. Without knowing the details of the injury, it would be difficult to argue with Michigan if indeed that were the case -- as one of the other responders to this comment suggested.

11/26/2017 - 8:20pm Not Suggesting a 6th Year

But rather that they would have allowed him to finish his scholarship on a medical but that they were not going to allow him to play. Again I have no insight on this one way or the other, just wanted to clarify.

11/26/2017 - 7:08pm Medical'd?

I am sad to see Wilton move on but will be rooting for him in his future endeavors, whatever they may be. I had been holding out hope (fueled in part by Karsh's comments on 97.1) that he would be healthy in time to lead us to victory against Wiscy and OSU. Alas, he was not healed in time -- which leads me to this question: could he have been "medical'd" by UM? (not unlike what happened with one of our linemen not long ago). I have absolutely no insider (or outsider for that matter) knowledge of this, purely speculating) Speight: 'but coach, the Doc says I am good to go.' Harbaugh: 'I don't care kid -- there is no way you are leaving that field paralyzed, on a stretcher as long as I am in charge. I just can't take that chance.'

11/23/2017 - 3:02pm Biased Announcing Crew

Of course the announcers completely gloss over this

11/23/2017 - 2:54pm Confirmation Overturned?

Perhaps they would have snapped it quicker if they hadn't been told by the refs on the field that it was confirmed?

11/23/2017 - 12:39pm Anthem

Beautiful and classy rendition of the Star Spangled Banner on the saxophone

11/20/2017 - 9:44pm Board Meltdown

If he did, this board would absolutely explode with posters demanding to know why he wasn't brought in earlier in the year when he 'is clearly the best option'

11/20/2017 - 9:32pm Dream Conference

Here's the conference that I want to see: UM, Cal, Stanford, NW, Rice, Tulane, Vandy, UVA, etc. Everyone plays by the (same) rules -- on the field and off -- or you're out. I had UNC in this dream conference up until a couple of years ago but they have proven that they don't belong. 'What about Norte Dame?' you ask... to hell with Notre Dame!

11/11/2017 - 2:43pm Weather

Well, the games against their top 2 rushing opponents were played in monsoons... that didn't hurt.

10/14/2017 - 4:03pm Indeed!

08/07/2017 - 12:07pm REALLY Guilty Pleasures

I saw Riverdance live at the Fisher Theater back in the day and LOVED it.

Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire is one of my all-time favorites.

08/04/2017 - 3:01pm Jumpman Logo Idea

On the subject of logos, I've had an idea about the Jumpman logos that has been rattling around in my head for a while. The biggest objection to the Jumpman UM gear that I have heard is that is shows a basketball player on a football uniform. It has been suggested that some good football icons would be Woodson's interception or Desmond's catch. What if you extended this line of thinking to iconic 'jumping' athletic plays in other sports? The header or scissor kick in soccer; reaching over the fence to save a home run in baseball; pole vault or high jump for Track and Field; the spike in volleyball. Under this convention, the concept of a jumping athlete is not lost. Not only is the Jumpman inspiration retained, but the various logos would signal the sport for which the gear is intended.

07/23/2017 - 6:19am Fubo TV

Not surprised to se this topic come up yet again as the landscape is changing rapidly. While the ideal solution for anyone's particular needs may not have been available a month ago -- or even a yeast ago-- it could be today. For me, that solution is Fubo TV. Because it allows me to watch live, in-market Tigers and Red Wings on the local Fox Sports affiliate (in addition to BTN), I am finally able to cut the cord. Availability of Fox Sports Detroit was always the gap in the coverage options but that is no longer the case. Surprised to see that Fubo doesn't get more mention here.

07/12/2017 - 12:47pm Follow the Money

If you want to pick the winner, answer this question: does a re-match happen (and everyone gets paid, again) if Maywether wins? If McGregor wins?

03/08/2017 - 8:30am Post-Season Exhibition

This is a great idea. UM v. LeMoyne at Chrisler. Admission would be 'donations only' -- to benefit Chad Tough, of course. (Patrick) Beilein, get on it!

02/06/2017 - 5:34pm POTUS 2029 You Heard it Here First!
