OT: Christmas or Hannukkah Present / Gift You Always Wanted But Never Got.
Just a fun / light Holiday topic. I always wanted a pair of Jordans as a youngster. I am 41 now, and literally bought my first pair (Air Jordan 1 Retro Premiums) as an early gift to myself. So what is the one gift you always wanted but never got, and would you buy it for yourself now? Nothing like trying to heal childhood wounds as an adult. LOL.

It does feel that the Angel of Death has been hanging out a bit too long during Football Season in Ann Arbor. Does it not?
December 18th, 2017 at 11:36 AM ^
Too funny. Let's not forget the Sugar Bowl pass-over, too.

answer August Ames (RIP), and a month straight in some tropical paradise without any commitments or obligations, but the Angel of Death is real. A UM championship within two years? Is that too much to ask?

bought for her. She's not really into dolls though. Now Teddy Bears... she has a problem.

I thought about this for our 5 year old daughter, but going to hold out for another year. The fricking clothes are literally more expensive than mine!
December 18th, 2017 at 11:27 AM ^
At least that gave us Festivus, even though you never got your American Girl Doll.

Undisputed Michigan Football National Championship.
Still waiting . . .
What's holding you back, dude?
December 18th, 2017 at 10:35 AM ^
Yes! Now if you didn't have a whining sniveling Scott Frost begging the press to honor his old and soon to retired head coach with a split National Championship, you would probably already have one. But, screw the past! Lets get one in the next 5 years. I think its a possiblity!

Hovercraft or Aircraft Carrier.
December 18th, 2017 at 10:40 AM ^
The Aircraft Carrier was BAD *SS!!! That thing was huge. Coincidentally, I looked on Ebay as to how much an old one would cost. They had one NIB for a couple grand. Yeesh!!!
December 18th, 2017 at 10:44 AM ^
so it was a natural addition. Sadly, my parents didn't see it that way. With the carrier I could have DOMINATED COBRA. But it is what it is.
December 18th, 2017 at 10:48 AM ^
We got it one year for Christmas and it was, indeed, bad ass. It was a family Christmas gift so all four of us boys had to share it. It was huge and took up a lot of room in our living room, so naturally our parents didn't let us leave it up too long. We had some epic battles. Oh, and our dog pooped on it once. Good times.
December 18th, 2017 at 10:56 AM ^
All my joe stuff was on a table in the back of our family room. I can remember my Dad sitting in a red cloth chair left over from the 70's watching Michigan play while I performed airstrikes with my F-14.
The Tomcat never lost. I always felt a little bad for the Cobra dudes trying to do air combat in their A-10's.
December 18th, 2017 at 11:16 AM ^
I got it for Christmas and it was awesome. My bestfriend was mind-boggled with envy, so much so he still (like 30+ years later) occasionally brings it up and expresses his dismay that I was so lucky.

World domination is hard to come by! LOL. I did have a GI Joe "Oil Platform". I also colletcted GI Joe comics too. I purchased about 5 years ago, off of Ebay, a whole bunch of the issues I could never find / get as a kid. #IHaveALotOfChildhoodIssues.

Hasbro re-released the Skystrike a couple years back. I'm a nerd about Naval air, I was sorely tempted to buy it. I wish I had now as my son would have loved it.

I had the carrier as a lad. Stupidly, I gave it, along with ALL of my GI Joe toys to a mate...for free. I was young and stupid.
December 18th, 2017 at 11:13 AM ^
but I can't gainsay something done out of generosity. I'm assuming it made one hell of a happy lad.

you want your own in a box for yourself or someone else's in a box for yourself? To each their own either way, just seems like some explaining is in order.
December 18th, 2017 at 11:52 AM ^
Both. I want to give and receive a box, at the same time. We will gently caress the two boxes together, but just the tips of the boxes. Softly, ever so softly...

The ability to drink and do drugs rationally instead of waking up at 5 in the morning with my keys in my ass (Robin Williams).
December 18th, 2017 at 10:43 AM ^
They had it in Sears / JC Penny Christmas books every year. Unfortunately it cost something like $300 in mid 80's money (so like 14 grand today) and my mom refused to buy me one. Said I'd crash it.
I got a radio controlled boat instead. Which was cool, but not airplane cool.
December 18th, 2017 at 10:52 AM ^
Looking on Amazon just isn't the same.
December 18th, 2017 at 10:56 AM ^
Right!? That is one of many things that kids today miss out on today. I couldn't wait to get the Sears, JC Penny, (and remember this oldy but a goody) Service Merchandise catalogs and start circling a whole bunch of crap I wasn't gonna get.

Double Post.
December 18th, 2017 at 11:16 AM ^
Heck, just seeing all the stuff!
I had a bunch of space legos (My kids thought me weird when I laughed at the Lego space guy in the Lego movie) and I wanted the planetarium in the Sears catalog. My theory was that I would darkent he room and fly my lego's through a star field background, Just like Buck Rogers and Colonel Deering, or BSG!
I didn't think the 'There will be a giant shadow of a boy on the wall too' issue. But I had fun imagining!

My son even loves the tiny catalogs and sale papers we get in the mail, but they're nothing compared to a phone book sized catalog of toys.
What's a phone book dad?

Every year I asked Santa for a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I never got it. If I ever meet Santa in a dark alley, I'm going to settle this grudge!

Unfortunately, my .240 high school batting average showed that some things were beyond even Santa's reach.

One: I really, really wanted a Gladius (Roman Short Sword) when I was 8 or 9. Probably have all my limbs because I didn't get one.
Two: I wanted a Power Rangers Mega Zord in the worst damn way. I got the Serpentera instead. I was super mad, though looking back I realize my Mom probably spend a solid 1/3 of our family's xmas budget on that and I was a turd for being so mad. Especially since my friend Anthony DID get the Mega Zord-- which allowed us to play perfectly, and his did break.
