He’s got the wheels to make up for our oline issues too.

Reminds me a lot of Baker Mayfield as well as Russell Wilson like you said. I don't see him as reckless on the field as Manziel and is definitely faster than him.
He's good though and with good coaching would be scary good.

I've read it stated like 20 different times that he is attempting to appeal to the NCAA to let him play right away and that he won't even transfer if he can't.
December 4th, 2017 at 9:49 AM ^
with our compliance office looking at that possibility.
I've seen a lot of speculation on here that that Patterson won't transfer if the NCAA won't give him a waiver. It makes sense, but I'm not reading any actual reports to that effect though.
The timing works against that idea. He wants to make his decision by Dec 20. The NCAA would have to rule within about a month for him to start the winter semester. If we allow for the holidays, how likely is that? It gives up any chance of an appeal of a negative ruling. Those have had a good success rate lately. Maybe that's why UM and other schools have their compiance departments involved.
NCAA moving at relative light speed wouldn't mean as much for the other Ole Miss players who want to transfer, but a QB really needs to go through spring practice if he wants to start right away.

really have some teeth and make examples of programs like Ole Miss then they should make the waiver for all and any players who want to transfer. Look your school has been caught cheating and you can't play in bowl games for 2 years and your scholarships at your school are limited so even after the probation you will be damaged enough you won't be seeing a bowl game during your career.
That's pretty harsh for the kids who went there. Let them transfer and really put it to Ole Miss for breaking rules. Maybe it will make some other programs at least think about it before they cheat....

He is a very talented kid. You will like him.
Vs Auburn: 34-51 346 yds 2 td 0 int
Vs Vandy: 22-35 351 yds 4 td 0 int
Also had a couple clunkers in there vs. Bama and LSU, but his team wasn't real good. His mistakes will drop significantly under Harbaugh and this offense.

Has this guy seen film of our OL play? I kid, I kid!!!

He is manzel 2.0. Will put an obscene amount of pressure on defenses. We can return the favor to osu as this guy will cause more damage because he can actually throw the ball also.
I feel this has been in the works for some time and is a done deal if he can play immediately. This really only affects Peters, if he comes to Michigan and plays for two years, as McCaffery will still have two years left and probably was sitting behind Peters until then. Of course Patterson has to beat out Peters and I actually think both could see the field.
The QB who is playing the best ball and gives Michigan the best chance to win will be starting. Of Course if Patterson only plays one year and heads to the nfl that only means Michigan at least one the big ten and he had a year that was off the charts.
Does it seem to anybody else that Harbaugh is either not completely sold on Peters or he lost favor somehow?. I do agree with Peters whole heartily that there is no way he should have been behind JOK at anytime. The response of the team, when Peters entered the game against Rutgers will tell you that. I know Harbaugh wants a kid to show more fire, but If Peters does his talking on the field with his actions, what is the difference?.
If Patterson does transfer to Michigan and can play next year, I really hope Peters stays to compete as I think both could play in the nfl eventually. McCaffery will most likely have to wait a couple of years, but who knows who will rise to the top. Time will only tell how this is going to play out.
I personally think Patterson is the best of the three at least at the college level. He does not have the size of the other two, but he is very creative and throws very well on the run. Like I said,"He will put a lot of pressure on opposing defenses". His game just like Manzel's is taylor made for the college game. Of course I could be selling him short as I don't know how strong of a arm he has.

he was a 5* prospect and the #3 recruit in the country. I think his talent and ceiling are probably a lot higher then Speights and with the coaching he would receive here? Think he could be very good. He also has the ability to run the football which opens up the offense even more.
December 4th, 2017 at 2:34 PM ^
Speight in '16: 12 Games, 61.6%, 2538 yds, 7.7 YPA, 18 TD, 7 Int, 139.8 rtg
Patterson in '17: 7 games, 2259, 8.7 ypa, 17 TD, 9 int, 151.5 rtg
Patterson had nearly the same yards and TD's in five fewer games with a better ypa and rating. Does turn the ball over more though.

Little would be a much bigger get than Patterson. If Patterson brings Little, I will go from lukewarm to all aboard.

This might be getting into the "Najee's trainer is wearing a Michigan shirt" realm, but last night Tarik Black tweeted this out.
"Thinking about going back to my roots and switching my number to #3 next year" with a couple 'scratching chin" emojis.
Thread has a pic of Patterson wearing #7 at Army game. So now we KNOW Black is giving up #7 for Patterson. So he's definitely coming. /s

Patterson wore #7 at IMG. Also note that Cesar Ruiz was his center there, one year behind him. Here they are together -- Ruiz is #52:
Also, it's probably worth noting that IMG isn't just any high school program. I'm not sure how it works, but I imagine they keep a close watch on the recruitment of their athletes. They have an investment in these players, and an NCAA recruiting scandal involving an IMG player or his family would be a big problem for them.
December 4th, 2017 at 2:11 PM ^
It would not be good for IMG to have a player involved in a scandal or a player attending the university involved in the scandal.
Having their athletes succeed in college is great marketing.

I wanted him to wear 20 or 22, kicks things real old school Doug Flutie style.

Does anyboby know the list of Ole Miss transfer players up for grabs? like seniors who intend to transfer? Greg Little is a need but he would need to appeal like Patterson I would assume
December 4th, 2017 at 8:09 AM ^
via another message board, those having possible UM interest, add grains of salt:
2015 4 star OT Javeon Patterson
2016 4 star OT Bryce Matthews
2016 5 star OT Greg LIttle
2016 5 star QB Shea Patterson
2017 4 star WR DD Bowie
December 4th, 2017 at 8:18 AM ^
appreciate your leg work, it would be great to add Shea and an OL guy or guys
December 4th, 2017 at 9:12 AM ^
One, just one starting quality offensive tackle transfer would really jump start the 2018 season.
December 4th, 2017 at 9:16 AM ^
A lot of interest, but that doesn't equate to actual openings. We'll see what shakes out after his visit.
December 4th, 2017 at 10:02 AM ^
Correct. There are at least 2 more that I know of. Let's see what shakes out but I would LOVE to get Patterson and Little. WIth both of them though, they are probably itching to play and particularly with Little I'm not sure he would give up a year at this point. Waivers would be essential.

Why would they be able to win an appeal? I'm honestly in the dark.
December 4th, 2017 at 9:33 AM ^
They are letting Seniors transfer without penalty. One could argue, some players have the ability to go pro after junior year, so why penalize them? They should be allowed to compete in the postseason and allowed to transfer without penalty also.

Because the NCAA would rather do that than deal with a lawsuit.
