MGoBlog turns 13 today

"AT 12:30 AM on December 4th, 2004, MGoBlog was born thusly"

I started reading this blog on a daily basis over 9 years ago.  Back then, Brian had time to respond to emails and even posted them occasionally (see the bottom of this post).

1989 UM GRAD suggested:  "Are we having a Blog Mitzvah? I can get a rabbi there to celebrate this important milestone for the blog."

I'm not sure how I'll celebrate, but I am grateful for the blog.  Go Blue!

I personally found myself internet searching for UM football info. Coincidentally, my searches often led me to here. And I thought to myself...”what kind of no-life losers log in and comment about college their football teams??!?”

Since then I’ve always wanted a “counter button” on my phone that keeps track of just how many times I hit that damn MgoBlog app button a day. How lame am I. Seriously.
In all honesty tho..thanks to all the people that do all the work to piece this gem together. I didn’t have the privilege of attending UM...I am a proud GVSU grad...but I will always root for the Maize n Blue!

I read this blog every day. I've read it from 5 continents. Mazel Tov on mgoblog's bar mitzvah. This place is really something to be proud of.

Not sure when I signed up, but pretty sure it was from looking through the App Store around the RichRod era. I remember getting the email that I had enough points to post a thread. I think I may have 3 thread posts since that time.

Brian,

Congrats on 13 years. I was going to post separately to interject some humor but here is a good place. Since this site has been around Michigan football has experienced some depressing seasons. I am putting the blame on you as Michigan graduates should be leaders. Not only is this site failing to lead in features, scalability, and ease of use but it looks like something from the web of the last century. The site has been the same since Michigan started to struggle. See the connection?

Michigan can win The Game next year but it will be solely determined on your leading and bringing us together to a glorious future with mgoblog. I know you can do this! If you fail then Michigan will lose The Game again without a doubt. Please do not let us down.

Also, dropping 30 pounds plus a hair cut and shave is in order, hippie!

Happy Birthday!

Jeebus, 13 years already? Congrats Brian, Seth, Ace and everyone else who's put in the hard work here. This site has definitely made the last 13 seasons more bearable.

Happy Birthday MgoBlog!

I heard about this blog from "Yost" (NTY) on the original MZone.  I lurked starting in 2005 "The Year of Infinite Pain" (7-5, HA!).  Turns out there are apparently multiple levels of infinity.  Little did we know.

I became an active member ten years ago in December 2007 to comment on the post-Lloyd coaching search.

Do yourself a favor and read "This Month in MGoBlog History" in the Diary section.  It will give you a feel of what MGoBlog was like back in the day, and it will give you some insight into our coaching search from hell.  Tennessee ain't got SHIT on us.

It's been a crazy trip.  I feel as if I helped raise MGoBlog from a baby to the smart, funny but unruly moody teenager it is today.

As one of the prepetual lurkers who finally broke down and set up an account after several years, I can't tell you what this blog means to me from a fan perspective. Thanks for allowing us a place to cheer, vent, theorize, shitpost, and view new merchandise via WD.

Happy 13th!!!

waiting (with excitement, hah!) for the RichRod era to begin, watching Wolverine Historian vids and paying for a Rivals subscription to take the edge off my Michigan addiction. Then this guy from Michigan I worked with mentioned "hey, have you ever read MGoBlog? It's pretty good."

I spent two years reading before I violated my most closely held personal principle: don't post comments on the internet. I finally jumped in when the Fire RichRod debate became too much to stand idly by and watch.

That guy who recommended it? He now swears he's never heard of the blog and never told me about it. Which means it must have been some kind of apparition or poltergeist who wanted me to spend at least an hour a day browsing new posts, poring over UFRs, and protesting Draftageddon.

Happy Birthday, you young whippersnapper.

Some dude named Brian Cook kept linking my videos to this place late 2007/early 2008.  So eventually I checked it out.  I remained a lurker for about a year.

In 2009, we were about to start year two of RichRod.  Nothing was going right.  Everything went to hell so quickly.  My beloved Michigan football missed a bowl game for the first time in my lifetime and we were getting blown out by teams we traditionally and historically own.

I finally started an account so I could complain with people who felt my pain and I fully appreciated it.  Over time, there were plenty of good things that happened too that were memorable (Under the lights, Burke's shot against Kansas, beating Duke and UConn at Crisler, Final four and It's HAPPENING!!!) to name a few.  But I still do my share of complaining because I am who I am.  Still happy to do it here with my fellow "blue bloods."

Happy Birthday, MGoBlog.
