Jim Mora Fired: Please Come Back Jedd

Submitted by FatGuyTouchdown on

Jim Mora has been relieved of his coaching duties according to UCLA. Jedd Fisch is the interim coach. Quite a few UCLA commits had serious Michigan interest, such as Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Come back Jedd please.

GTFO of here with that shit. You saw 1 sack yesterday blown up because the rb carried out his fake and the broadcasters called it out so you all think rb pass blocking is some huge problem now.

NEWS FLASH-  The majority of football coaches did not play football past high school. The only real correlation that has been shown is that in general the better player you were the less success you have as a coach. I think Jim Harbaugh may be the most successful player turned coach ever anywhere and half the people here are ready to start our next coaching search.

The structure of the coaching staff seems weird. Aren't there positions without coaches, ie. WR? I think JH needs determine which coach will handle the entire OL (not split duties), and then fill out the staff to cover each position...and probably get rid of Pep,

Yeah I don't know that he's a great RB coach, but A) he is a great recruiter, which is mostly what a RB coach is, and B) our RB's are doing well with the ball in their hands. Could they benefit from a coach who knows the finer points about blocking from the position? Sure. But they're also somewhat hampered as blockers by being smaller, 200ish pound guys. Deveon Smith was a great blocker. Was that because of Wheatley or was that because Deveon was 230 pounds and liked to hit people in the mouth? I'm not sure.

Yeah, good point, he was great, but he shared the affinity for knocking people's teeth out with Deveon. Seems like Higdon could be that, Evans doesn't seem like the type. Not saying he isn't tough, just that he might need more technique coaching to get his head around it. (In my experience) some guys, big or small, are just of the mindset that they are going to hurt you before you hurt them. Others need to trust their technique 1000% to feel great about taking on bigger guys. I definitely don't disagree that RB pass blocking could potentially be improved with a true RB coach.

It's highly unlikely after an offensive disaster like this year that someone doesn't take a bullet for these struggles, regardless of youth and history with Harbaugh. Could be Pep, but Drevno is the responsible party as OC so it's probably going to polishing up the resume time pretty quick here. He can get an FCS HC job or an NFL job.

Don't think this will hurt his career much as the defense is more of UCLA's problem than offense. They were pretty solid on offense, especially passing, and Rosen has good numbers and is obviously on track to be a very high draft pick. He's not going to get a really attractive offer for next year, but his rep isnt gonna take a hit over this.

What was the reason he went to UCLA in the first place? Weather?

I realize he's got HC aspirations, would that have been less possible coming straight from Michigan?

Harbaugh's got west-coast connections to help him get a HC job there?

The PAC's less blue-blood mentality, hiring chai-drinking, flip-flop wearing, i'm-vegetarian-5-days-a-week, sunglasses, sorta-young, social-media cool-guys? (i'm saying I hate californians is what I'm saying)

Next to Bo, Fisch is the most romanticized former coach in Michigan history.

The longer the time away, the better his offenses were. Come this time next year, it’ll be “I remember when Fisch was here, Michigan scored 48 points a game, passed for an average of 450 yds a game, and Wilton Speight was a Heisman finalist.”
