Jim Mora Fired: Please Come Back Jedd

Submitted by FatGuyTouchdown on

Jim Mora has been relieved of his coaching duties according to UCLA. Jedd Fisch is the interim coach. Quite a few UCLA commits had serious Michigan interest, such as Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Come back Jedd please.

Well last year we weren't throwing fades to our slot receivers, we actually ran a few slants for easy yards, and we would occasionally complete a pass on an expected passing down. I think you're right about Fisch to an extent, but I also think its clear something was off in the passing game. Last year there were not nearly the number of head scratching play calls, which is more than in game playcalling. Certain things are repped in practice for paticular situations, and its clear some of those things did not make a ton of sense.

A friend of mine coaches Pep son, and speaks with him regularly. Pep plans on being here for a while. Although things can change l guess. He also said Pep feels like Joe Milton could be the next Cam Newton, minus the laptop theft. Take it for what it’s worth.

Well that’s the thing, the thought is that Milton may beat these guys out. From what he said, Milton is enrolling early. Now I’m not stating he will be our starter next year, but it seems as if Pep thinks he will be in rotation more than we may think. Pep actually had a video of Milton on his phone. That’s how my friend starting talking about it. My buddy is a buckeye to the core, even thought Milton would be a problem for them in the future.

Well no one really has that privilege... Anyone can get let go at anytime. All that i was implying was he doesn’t feel as if he is in the “hot seat” as we may think. The end of the year could be different but as of now, he plans on being here.

that info is not worth much.

I doubt Pep would have his son running around saying that this is just a short term stop.  Of course he is going to say that he plans to be here for a while.

And if Pep really thinks that he has identified the next Cam Newton in Joe Milton, then...maybe this should be a short term stop.

Milton has lots of upside, for sure.  But calling anyone the next Cam Newton is just crazy, especially before he has even arrived in campus and done an August training camp.  Does not sound credible that Pep really said/belives that (other than as a form of recruiting hype).

We have a 6'8" monster of a TE in Zach Gentry and I don't recall trying him on a end zone fade while we are in the red zone all year. It's not that hard and it's not something that needs to be buried in the playbook waiting for the Ohio State game - ND did this consistently for years with Michael Floyd, Eifert and their conveyor belt of TEs.

Grant Perry was also non-existent in this game...could be because of his lingering injury issues but would have been nice to see him get a little more involved in the gameplan.

That Jedd Fisch move was one for the ages. Protip: don't take a job with a coach that was clearly going to get fired if you got a good thing going, Jedd. One mediocre season as OC with Josh Rosen as your QB is not a great resume line.

To be fair to Fisch, he walked into being OC at UCLA with a pretty decent resume going back to his time as a graduate assistant under Spurrier, so whether UCLA decides to give him the job as HC or if he stays as the OC or goes elsewhere, I don't know that teams would run screaming simply because he chose to go to UCLA this season. After all, you can't control what the AD does, nor can you control which personnel you initially walk into, if you will.

Harbaugh needs to be next but it wont happen and we will be a 9-3 8-4 program until somebody grows a pair

Reading all you whiny bitches comments over the past 24 hours made me realize something. It's that I hope you all die in a fire so that you can no longer contribute to this site. If any of you are upset by my comment, neg away and take away my imaginary points.

The same offense as Rich Rod though. Which had a disastrous outcome in the Big 10! Chip Kelly was successful in the PAC 12 where no defense is played and that doesn’t work in the Big 10.

Had the pieces in place to run that offense! It’s obvious with your commentary that you aren’t patient enough with our current coach to instill all of his recruits and an 8-4 season is unacceptable. So, you would wait patiently through a few possibly sub .500 seasons while Chip Kelly gets his players in place to run his offense?

It sounds like Fisch wants a head coaching job so I wouldn’t expect him to return. IMO the play of the OL and QB have been bigger problems than playcalling anyway.
