Jim Mora Fired: Please Come Back Jedd

Submitted by FatGuyTouchdown on

Jim Mora has been relieved of his coaching duties according to UCLA. Jedd Fisch is the interim coach. Quite a few UCLA commits had serious Michigan interest, such as Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Come back Jedd please.

Exactly, Fisch just left. He isn't running back to Ann Arbor with his tale between his legs anytime in the near future. If Michigan is replacing anyone I'd say it's Drevno and because he wants to leave. Drevno won't get fired but I still stand by the idea that Michigan should go out and land the best OC they can that fits this offense. Drevno does okay but he's never been that guy at the head of a kickass offense. That's the guy you want damnit. Already paying this staff huge money to win and why not seal the deal where the team has been struggling. Turn it over to someone who is killing it. Just like Don Brown was at BC. My two cents usually isn't worth shit on this board though.

I don't see anybody on this offensive staff getting fired. They may leave on their own accord, but I highly doubt they will be fired.

Yes, it doesn't seem in Harbaugh's character to publicly fire an assistant, especially if they haven't broken rules or done stupid off the field shit.  He is the type that would have a private meeting with an assistant and gently persuade them to find alternate employment.  Then that assistant will leave on their own accord.  That is the more likely scenario.

Jay  should not be fired stick to TE's though can we throw some money at Woodson to come coach our secondary he's from the area comes back often donates time and money to Motts and recruits still know who he is I've got to believe we could match tv money

Agreed.  I think Zordich may be the second best assistant on staff with Don Brown being #1.  The secondary was not very good early in the season.  They've developed well throughout the season.  I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying his position group was the most improved on the team.  The coverage against Wiscy was excellent.  Hornibrook simply made incredible throws.

Would actually be nice to bring in a hotshot, young offensive mind. Somebody who can bring in some fresh ideas of what works IN COLLEGE, with youthful players.

Why so people like Jedd Fisch so much? Is it just because they think Drevno and Pep are that bad and Fisch looks amazing by comparison? Because that’s not enough for me to want him back.

All I remember about his offenses here were that we could pass all over the weaklings on our schedule, but when Wisconsin, OSU, or Iowa showed up on the schedule, the offense as a whole basically shriveled up and died.

He wasn’t bad here, but I’d rather give someone else a shot.

I'd believe it. Kelly is a West Coast guy and I think he's much more comfortable in the PAC-12. He knows that conference inside and out, and he also has access to the same level of talent he'd get at UF, and it's all within a 50-100 mile radius.

His only issue at UCLA would be the academic requirements for the players, which I imagine UCLA is not going to give Kelly much leeway on like he'd get at UF. A lot of people are worried about him having to compete with USC, which has largely owned UCLA for a long time. Yeah well such was the same when Dantonio went to MSU.

If I'm an offensive recruit, I don't care what UCLA's history is. I'd rather play for Chip Kelly than Clay Helton. Kelly would probably need a year or two to get enough of "his guys," but when he has them, I don't think he would have any issue competing with and beating USC.

UCLA has been USCs bitch for the past 50 years with a few decent seasons mixed in. Very hard to compete when u have to recruit against that in your own back yard. Not to mention Stanford has owned UCLA 9 straight I believe hell even CAL beat them last year. Very hard to compete in a state like California and have high expectations

Did you mean Browns?   He was terrible with the Colts too and wasted a ton of talent.  It's very possible that he's Mike DeBord in a deep disguise.

I don't want Jedd. I don't remember everyone loving him so much when he was here. He wasn't the reason for the difference from last year to this year in offense.

Look at UCLA 2016 offense/2017 offense

Look at UM 2016 offense/2017 offense

Two of those were poor, two of those were high powered.

Yes yes youth I get it. Until its late 2018 and we are still a mess and its too late because we fell for the youth excuse and missed our chance. This years offense shouldve at least been solid. There are 80 schools that would take our personnel right now.

Until we clean our O staff ... not much will change.

Drevno gotta go. OL development has been putrid in his 3 years.

Jay gotta go.  He needs to get busy building his own resume somewhere else.

Smith seems to be doing near nothing.

Need to bring in high end recruiters of which ONE can teach RB how to block.

HIs long developing passing game got Luck killed and him fired in Indy and doesn't seem to mesh well with a power run O that Harbs and Drevno want to run.  UM gets no easy yards.  They take some easy yards to the TE first couple drives and the rest of the game it is deep balls that the OL can't protect long enough to let develop.

If Drevno stays, he should be able to hand pick an OL coach and focus on one run scheme. But I would be okay if he moved on as well.  Id love to see a streamlined approach to Offensive coaching positions.

1 OC

1 OL Coach

1 WR Coach

1 RB Coach

1 TE Coach

I don't know if JayBaugh is a good RB coach or not but he seems to be able to recruit so they should find a spot for him.  Maybe recruiting cordinator if he would be interested.

This team will end either 8-4 or 9-3 which is about as expected, but it did it on the backs of an unreal defense which wasnt expected.  It was expected to be good but not elite.  Without them, they lose to Indiana, and maybe Purdue, Air Force, or Cincy.  The offense is young but that is only an excuse to not be great, there is enough talent on that side to be good and they weren't, even with Speight.  If it is a meritocracy, the cause for that needs to be identified and fixed. And I don't think it is as simple as saying,  'youth."

Can someone fill me in on why Jedd left in the first place? Was he offerered more money? I guess I'm taking the angle of ''would he even want to coach here again''..

Thanks
