These things happen. No big deal. Good luck to the young man.

How many times can you write this today before you realize you have no idea what you’re talking about?

Fat Lever? He retired in ‘94, I think. And that game was yesterday.

Haskins seems like a bright kid in his interviews. Not sure where you got that impression.

It’s funny that you didn’t even recognize why he called you an asshole. That’s saying something.

10/20/2018 - 9:20pm I suppose it’s a matter of…

I suppose it’s a matter of perspective, and there’s no definitive definition of evil, but isn’t the guy who actually beats his wife the real evil?

10/18/2018 - 2:31pm It's not my argument. It was…

It's not my argument. It was one of the stated reasons the NBA went to the one and done program. But I would bet statistics show that old folks, or even older folks, are more responsible with their money on average than an 18 year old. There are plenty of 18 year olds that are good with their money, and plenty of 60 year olds that are not, but that's not really the argument here, and a fairly meaningless, simplified rebuttal.

Also are any athletes really getting paid what they're worth? It seems to me they're getting paid way more than their worth in a larger, societal capacity, so limiting many aspects of their salary, amongst other particular professions, might indeed be wise.

10/18/2018 - 12:56pm It's not 18 years olds…

It's not 18 years olds playing in the NBA, it's 18 year olds playing with NBA money, and there are plenty of cautionary tales that prove this is problematic.

Apparently you didn’t read Ron’s Unofficial Guide.

09/20/2018 - 11:18pm I already new the answer.

I already knew the answer upon posting said question.

The A’s scored more runs today than these teams will combine to score. MLB > NFL.

Wouldn’t be caught dead on an open game thread or live blog. This fan base is toxic. Enjoy the game. Enjoy the win.

09/15/2018 - 8:51pm The only PI call I think…

The only PI call I think they got wrong was the one on Ross. There were a bunch that could've gone either way and they were calling it tight all game, so the precedent had been set. It wasn't that bad really.

I listen to a ton of baseball on the radio for a variety of teams, and Dan is easily a top five PBP guy in the entire MLB.

09/04/2018 - 9:04pm How do you quantify fire?

How do you quantify fire?

This seems like a lackluster argument, and wholly unneeded.

This dumb narrative can’t die soon enough.

08/16/2018 - 11:50am Are you serious? Did you…

Are you serious? Did you read the details? All those involved are done coaching football and fucking should be.

07/23/2018 - 6:08pm It's not selfish. It's the…

It's not selfish. It's the landscape.

Programs send out hundreds of offers, most of them merely window dressing, unless, of course, the coaches miss out on their top targets and decide to then pursue some of those original offers seriously. It's a backup plan, the same as the players.

Kids commit to the best school they can to ensure a spot and gain visibility. Perhaps a better offer comes along or perhaps it doesn't, but it's not selfish. Ensure your spot at the best program you can, and if that offer you really want comes along you decommit. It's the game.

And these are indeed young people, with a million voices in their ears and a huge decision to make at a young age. Your argument about the kids overseas doesn't hold either, because if they decided to join the military in the first place they've already shown that youthful, ill-advised decision making process.

The word commit in college athletics has changed, and everybody seems to understand that - coaches, players, fans - expect these, "Stick by your word. If you commit, you commit," purists.

If I learn anything new and/or interesting I feel that’s a positive. That’s one reason I come back to this site - sports mostly, or otherwise. And I appreciate this interview, as it informed me on the specifics of some issues and some sides to those issues. I wouldn’t mind something like this on a weekly basis.

06/25/2018 - 10:38pm When you break down the tape…

When you break down the tape, it makes some sense why the staff thinks there are some more interesting options. He has some strong attributes no doubt, but also there are some pretty big holes in his game, which is strange given his ranking. He could go either way, which is interesting for a 5 star guy. I also still don’t think the state is producing serious talent, given the recent production from in state players. It’s nice to see recruiting concentrate on other states for the recent commits. It’s a smart choice, imo.

06/20/2018 - 4:10pm Fuck you, Bluey.

Fuck you, Bluey.

Fuck you, Bluey.

06/18/2018 - 5:30pm Strong film.

And regarding…

Strong film.

And regarding all this hand wringing about in-state recruiting, this team has what? three starters from Michigan. And that’s not for lack of trying, considering the roster make-up. I’m fine with 4 star out of state players versus 5 star in-state, and Harbaugh probably sees this too. The talent is lacking in-state.

06/03/2018 - 9:58pm You can’t fault Beilein for

You can’t fault Beilein for being interested or wanting to coach at the highest level in his profession.

It wouldn’t be anybody else’s fault either - Warde, The Pistons, the NBA. There’s so much anger in this thread about something none of us can control. All these rationalizations too. It’s one man’s choice, and I hope like most everyone he stays, but if he goes I’ll definitely be checking out what Beilein can do with a NBA roster. I imagine it’ll be fun to see. And if that’s what he wants he should take the opportunity, right?

06/01/2018 - 6:40pm There’s a bunch of strange

There’s a bunch of strange reasoning in this thread, which is to be expected, I guess.

If Beilein was concerned with a larger salary for his assistants or himself, he’d just ask. He has the AD’s ear on anything. He’s also not really the power play type of guy. Or a legacy type guy.

I doubt he goes, but it’s really to have a crack at the NBA before he retires.

The Pistons give him that NBA chance without having to uproot his life. And as we know, he’s been ahead of the curve in terms of offensive philosophy since WVU, and it would be great to see how he would implement that philosophy with NBA talent. He’s not a fundamentals type coach either, despite what people on this thread have suggested. He’s a big picture offensive guy, and with NBA talent I’m enthralled with the possibilities. And if it doesn’t work out in the NBA he just retires having coached every level of basketball.

05/27/2018 - 5:03pm Narcissistic post.

Narcissistic post.

05/25/2018 - 2:57pm That last paragraph is simply

That last paragraph is simply untrue and that rhetoric is detrimental and counter productive to citizens of the United States. The fact that you believe it and share it is worrisome, IMO.

05/25/2018 - 10:18am Another way to measure this

Another way to measure this is which schools have the highest family mean income for incoming freshman.

05/21/2018 - 8:23pm No doubt

If tidy is not just a typo, this is the most disturbing post on this thread.

05/17/2018 - 4:17pm Arteta is underwhelming, but

Arteta is underwhelming, but I wonder if he plans on bringing a Spanish style to the club, which would be interesting, given Pep, Jose, etc.

Buffon is as interesting an interview as any athlete out there too, and obviously a great goalkeeper. Hope he plays in the MLS for a year or two.

05/15/2018 - 2:48pm Yeah it was a Walgreens truck

Yeah it was a Walgreens truck that had blocked someone in. That someone thought it would be cool to shoot the driver of the truck.

05/15/2018 - 2:42pm It was a parking space

It was a parking space dispute, so kind of road rage.

05/15/2018 - 2:30pm Yeah. The DL stint counts

Yeah. The DL stint counts toward the suspension, and he is now ineligible for the post season, unless the suspension is reduced during an appeal.

05/10/2018 - 6:39pm I like your well-constructed

I like your well-constructed opinions, but fuck your idea of America. Certain citizens are punished for accusations all the time, and better people than this asshole. It’s already an authoritarian nightmare. Patricia is a menace to society, and not in that good Hollywood way. In that real, probably shouldn’t be around a school way.

05/10/2018 - 6:23pm And this is a flat out untrue

And this is a flat out untrue statement.

05/10/2018 - 4:47pm That’s a beautiful sentence.

That’s a beautiful sentence. I’m not being sarcastic. It’s great.

05/10/2018 - 4:42pm Downvotes give me strength

Downvotes give me strength like Sampson. But I can’t believe people think this guy should remain the Lions coach. I’m flabbergasted, truly. It’s very, very probable he’s a piece of shit. And that probability is good enough for me.

05/10/2018 - 4:39pm Yes, I’d still be okay with

Yes, I’d still be okay with it. This isn’t like sending an innocent person to the electric chair.

05/10/2018 - 3:53pm What statistical model are

What statistical model are you using to come up with this conclusion? The Hoffentrauer model, when the numbers are plugged in correctly, states unequivocally Matt Patricia committed sexual assault and should be fired, to then get his second chance at a small real estate firm - I used the Render statistical model to provide me with a probable future career path - where his beard will sell condos like hot cakes.

If you used the Holtheim model to conclude I should shut the fuck up, then that’s a strong conclusion. I used the Felterhoon model to conclude that you have trouble properly capitiliazing your written communications. i, the, etc.

05/10/2018 - 3:44pm You will forever be known to

You will forever be known to me as the guy who ate a piece of half pipe at the outdoor roller blading competition in Golden, Colorado on March 24th 1999 idiot.
