B. Bredeson                                                    B. Watson

K. Walker                                                        A. Thomas

I. Bunting

T. Wheatley

E. McDoom

K. Crawford

The experience and struggles these players endured this year will help them next year.  Plus year three for this D. Brown defense that will have everyone back minus McCray and Hurst has a chance to be light years better than what we saw this year.  I think Peters has a chance to be a great quarterback, and will get better with experience and timing with all the receivers coming back next year.

They've won 4 out of the last 8. Going back to just before they won back to back titles seems to be a convenient way to make your point but misleading at best. They have won a national championship on average every other year for almost a decade.

So tired of posters on here being complete downtrodden fuckwads with no positivity. Yes, they had talent last year and shit the bed in Iowa and were 1 foot away from the CFP at OSU. If you think each year in the future that we "have" talent will be like this then I really don't know what to tell you.

I'm 32. I've been positive year, after year, after year. I remember from like ages 18-28, going into the season with a big grin on my face, reading Lindy's magazine and getting excited about the season

I can't put myself through that shit anymore. These guys aren't worth it. They don't beat anyone. So at this point, I'm at the "show me" stage. Until then, it's all noise.

They are coming along in many ways. Harbaugh is a victim of his own shadow and contract. If you put nearly anyone else at M as coach, people would be more than satisfied with the last 3 years. Between unreal expectations, the huge contract, the media buzz, etc, fans just thought titles were predestined. Alas, things don’t happen overnight.

I believe he was referring to his time watching Michigan has been full of letdowns and not much in the way of championships. People on here talk about Bo and Carr but for a lot of people (myself included) those years happened before we were born or during our elementary years and we don't really remember them. I don't think he was referring to him being a grown man trying to come off as hard.

as well. He had several very good teams but never really came close to winning a national championship. He would generally lose at least one game he should have won and really struggled in bowl games against better teams Also the level of competition was much easier back then (Big 2 Little 8). Bo always focused specifically on winning the Big 10 and never really made a national championship a goal / priority. Harbaugh has already elevated the program to the level Bo had achieved - especially in the second half of his career at Michigan. It's only going to get better.

If watching kids playing a game gets to you like that you may have a real problem. Likewise, if an undefeated season is somehow a life affirming event for you, you may need to work on your personal life. You talk about it like it's your marriage falling apart... only it's just a game.

When people say they don't bear any, what us your definition of anyone? In 2 years harbaugh beat an sec easy champ, a big ten champ, the big ten west champ and the pac 12 south champ. Are these guys not anyone?

He’s won 75% of his games, back to back 10 win seasons, all after taking over a program that was 5-7 with losses to the likes of Minnesota, Maryland and Rutgers and 46-42 in the previous 7 years. He’s a fluke dropped punt and a very questionable spot away from two 11 win seasons, a division title, likely conference title, and a birth in the CFP. When he was brought in, the expectations were that it would take 3-4 years before this team was truly competitive. He shattered those expectations. Now he’s 8-3 with the youngest team in America, the expectations this year being 8-4/9-3, and you’re bitching about wins? Seriously? Not to mention we’re 8-3 without our starting QB and top WR. EDIT: this wasn’t a reply to you

Yup, had year 1 not gone so well people wouldn’t be so “up in arms”. The expectations are/were out of hand. But for gosh sakes, the offense has to be better, even in down years. Maybe modernize/simplify the schemes so young dudes can be more successful early on. I hate OSU as Much as anyone, but their offense can still operate well with one or more first year starters in the offensive line.

It’s hard to run a simplified pro style offense though if you’re not more talented than your opponent. Sure, it works when we play Rutgers, Maryland and Minnesota. But you’re not going to have that success when you play a Wisconsin, PSU, MSU, or OSU. And we’re in the same position we are now

Oh, look who's back after a loss!  Where were after the wins?  Nothing to bitch about then, eh? YOu do nothing but bitch, why don't you go follow another team?  We would all be happier!

Yeah, outcoached. Losing because of a one-in-a-million dropped punt against Michigan State is them getting out-coached. Two interceptions deep in own territory against Ohio state is getting out-coached. Losing after two of your QB's in one season leave the stadium is getting outcoached. Houston's backup quarterback coming to Michigan to be the backup but having to play is getting out-coached.

Yes, calling the wrong punt protection is getting out coached, calling a play action pass when you're in you're own endzone is getting out coached. Offensive lines and running backs continually not able to pick up stunts and getting QBs killed is getting out coached. Losing to an MSU team at home at night that went 3-9 last year but looks to have a more cohesive offense than we do is getting out coached. This shit is not all bad luck and the grim reaper following us.

The "outcoached" meme is tired and dumb. Let's take a look at all of our losses under Harbaugh, with our opponent's final ranking in parentheses. Rankings for this year are current:

  • Year 1: @Utah (17) - First game with a new coach coming off a 5-7 season. One pick-six was the difference? Outcoached? Probably not. Coaching was probably the only reason we were competitive.
  • Year 1: MSU (6) - I don't know what to say to you if you think we were outcoached here. We went back and forth with a playoff team and had the lead with just moments to go before possibly the most improbable play in CFB history happened. Outcoached? No.
  • Year 1: OSU (4) - We got straight up rocked by a superior team. Outcoached? I guess.
  • Year 2: @Iowa (NR) - Outcoached I guess. Weird things happen in Kinnick. See God-Emperor superior's coach's performance there this year.
  • Year 2: @OSU (6) - We went on the road and went into 2OT against a playoff team. Any play could have made the difference in this game. Outcoached? No.
  • Year 2: FSU (8) - Tight game against a very good opponent. We held the lead with less than a minute remaining. Outcoached Probably not.
  • Year 3: Michigan State (17) - This game was a sludge fart where we fumbled 3 times and threw 2 picks. This is the classic "we were outcoached" game. Were we? I say no.
  • Year 3: Penn State (10) - We got rocked by a superior team. Outcoached? Yes.
  • Year 3: Wisconsin (5) - Played tight on the road against a veteran team. Once our second best quarterback went out, it went south quickly. Outcoached? No.

IMO there are 2-3 games up there where we were "outcoached" over a three year period. This happens to every single coaching staff sometimes. It's also easy to forget the fact that our ten wins in 2015 happened almost exclusively because our coaching staff did an outstanding job turning 5-7 into 10-3 overnight, and that our almost-playoff run in 2016 was only two years separated from a God-awful team in 2014. I would like to close by pointing out that we were not supposed to be all that good this year according to anyone except the most devoted Michigan fans. Due to our overwhelming inexperience, Vegas had us at 8.5 wins and that seems basically dead on. MSU is the only loss to a team outside the top 10 this year and that was a 5 TO debacle. There's only so much coaches can do to prevent fumbles. Personally, I'd love for this team to get another crack at MSU with Peters at the helm.

Well uncle Leo, I guess I look back to the Iowa loss and I remember guys like Deveon, Jehu and Wilton making huge mistakes in that game or not being able to do much. Not exactly a super talented nationally ranked trio there. They were Hoke's fill in misses in recruiting if I remember correctly.

It won't mean much without a coherent offensive plan. After there were magically no special wrinkles left for iowa and osu last year (pepcat, lol) and after whatever the fuck our offense has been trying to be this year, I have a hard time being excited.

ijohnb

November 19th, 2017 at 8:29 AM ^

here. Coach has got to get his offensive staff sorted out. There is just nothing coherent there. The mish-mash of concepts that we are running do not compliment each other are there are too many breakdowns. Our guys are confused. Busted o-line assignments have taken two QBs out. It looks flat out unsafe for our QBs right now in all honesty. We should see some turnover on our offensive staff in the off-season.

RockinLoud

November 19th, 2017 at 9:22 AM ^

Man I feel similarly on the QBs. what happens this week if Peters is out and JOK gets hurt? Burn McCaffrey's redshirt in an ass kicking in the last game of the season? Put in Malzone? Either option is shitty, but I guess that's what happens when you're on your 4th string QB after shit Hoke recruiting at the position. Bigger issue, to your point, is our OL getting 2-3 QBs injured. That's completely unacceptable.

don’t think Peters should play. He took a hit against Minnesota that didn’t look to me got the attention it should have. And he was out cold yesterday. He should be nowhere near the OSU d-line next week. At least O’Korn can effectively run for his life, and there is going to be a lot of that next Saturday.
