Durkin is 10-11 at Maryland, and has yet to play Michigan, MSU or PSU this season. Not sure he'd be my top choice.

It's win or else in the Power 5..........How long did he last? Three years?
We beat hem so badly that the Gators just could not come back...............this year at least.
Did that shark thing have anything to do with it?
Put some clothes on for the next interview.

The Michigan loss has nothing to do with Florida being so bad. Me thinks Florida was not that good coming into the season and they are doing their best to prove it.

If I were Florida I want someone with at least 3-5 YOY track record of excellence.
Chip Kelly
Kyle Whittingham
Bob Stoops
Mark Dantonio
Bobby Petrino

UCF is just a short ride down the road. If I was UCF right now, I'd quickly make sure Frost is happy.
October 29th, 2017 at 8:31 PM ^
Agreed. Good list. Brohm would be a good fit at Florida I think.

Ain't no shark want a man with no job. Mmm-hmm.
October 29th, 2017 at 3:49 PM ^
My first call would be Bob Stoops. He'd provide an instant recruiting boost. After that, straight offensive guys down the line. UF had a defensive guy and he didn't work out. They got an offensive guy, but a guy who ran the type of offense Saban featured before the change-over with Hurts last year. The dinosaur offense that had stalled out, even with Alabama's talent. They should look for an innovator spread-type. Fuente if he can be pried from VT. Mike Norvell, the Memphis coach. Brohm, Morris, and Frost are all great names.

Thoughts?

Defensive coach. I don't think UF should or will look for defensive coaches. I think they want Meyer 2.0. Given that, I would add Dino Babers to the list.

Since 2008, he's only won 10 games in 1/9 seasons. No chance in hell Florida hires someone with that track record.
October 29th, 2017 at 8:19 PM ^
And a losing record in-conference eight years out of nine. He's not likely to be on their A-list.

But this, combined with the off-field disaster with Callaway and Co., the disaster that’s been McElwain’s offense, and the curbstompimg they just took from Georgia, it was all just too much.

James Franklin
Matt Campbell
Bobby Petrino
Middle of the list:
Joe Moorhead (PSU OC)
Chip Long (ND OC)
Chip Kelly
Brent Venables
Charlie Strong
If we have too list:
Kevin Sumlin
Jeff Brohm

As long as Moorhead leaves, I'm happy.
Dufus Franklin can stay as long as he likes.
October 29th, 2017 at 6:08 PM ^
But a risky choice too, so I don't think they'll go for him.
Chip Kelly seems like a good bet for an interview at least.
October 29th, 2017 at 10:00 PM ^
The Big Ten is the best right now. Or the deepest anyway. The only thing I could see Franklin leaving for is a HC gig in the NFL.
October 29th, 2017 at 5:09 PM ^
He's rebounded this year at Arizona, now ranked in both polls.
His offense is incredible (Khalil Tate).
He'd be able to recruit Florida.
The key is does he want the extra stress/attention and is he willing to make adjustments with his defensive schemes and hire a DC who can run that side of the bowl like Harbaugh has let Brown run our D.

He can go 8-4 forever and they'll be happy in Tucson as long as he beats ASU with some regularity. Occasionally he'll have a 4-8 season but will also have a 9-3 or 10-2 so it will balance out.
A bunch of 8-4s would get him fired in Gainesville, and given how bad his defenses always are, even 8-4 might be a stretch in the SEC.

No. They will end up having to pay him. Pretty easy case for him to win if they try that.
October 29th, 2017 at 5:20 PM ^
October 29th, 2017 at 8:37 PM ^
Huh? Jimbo Fisher? Why the hell would he go there?
October 29th, 2017 at 5:34 PM ^
OK - the Gators are 3-4, but the team was in the SEC championship game in 2015 and 2016. Wow, hard to imagine a Big Ten coach reaching the Big Ten Championship two years in a row being dumped mid-season.
But I guess there must be more to know.
October 29th, 2017 at 5:48 PM ^
Rumor has it the termination had more to do with McElwain supposedly making up those death threats than the performance of the team (which obviously didn't help either).
October 29th, 2017 at 10:46 PM ^
Which is complete horsehit... FLA did that just to not have to pay out his $12MM buyout.

It's hard for me not to see Florida making a run at Kelly. He promises a cure for Florida's offensive woes, has brand name attraction for recruits and is currently looking for a job.
October 29th, 2017 at 6:16 PM ^
Who will provide for them now. Just another stat in the one parent household. These innocent baby sharks are the real losers in this deal.

Psssssst: Urban.
The Florida job is open.
You know you want it.
