Nico Collins snaps last night?

Submitted by WeimyWoodson on

So last night during the game I thought I saw Nico Collins coming off the field and then saw on Twitter Ace say that he was put in the game.  Did any one notice if he played more then that one snap?

Wondering why at this point he was put in (doesn't make sense to just say they need to try someone else).  Since Michigan doesn't have any elite recievers committed for the 2018 class I thought it would make sense to keep Nico and Oliver redshirted.  Just another one of those curious things.

I didn't see this anywhere else on the board, so sorry if I missed it.

is that the kids are working hard and getting better, and therefore at some point some of them deserve to play. I think a too strict adherence to a red shirting mentality is counterproductive to team success and team morale.

Yeah, this team is at least two years away from reaching dominance. (And there's no guarantee about that, either.) Next year should be better, but they'll still be quite young and not exactly full of depth. We'll be starting either Speight or a totally green QB. And we have three tough road games: OSU, ND, MSU. We won't dominate next year.

We will be better next year than in 19. Notre Dame loses a ton this year. 4/5 of their OL are seniors, their junior RB will go pro, St. Brown will have to make a decision, their WR Smith and TE Smythe are seniors, Hayes and Bonner on their DL are seniors, all 3 starting LBs are seniors, 1 corner is a senior. By my count, out of 22 starters, they will lose 13 starters this year (assuming their RB goes and Wimbush, St. Brown and other starting juniors don't). Their OL will be sporting 4 new starters against Senior Chase Winovich and Junior Rashan Gary.

We should be favorited in South Bend next year. After that we go into MSU undefeated and with more talent. Next year will be a comparable, maybe better chance, to win it all as 2016.

ND could go back to being a dog. UW is at home and living in Wisconsin chryst is nothing special. PSU is also at home and they lose Saquon, trace, gesicki, Allen, Jennings etc. I don't get worried about other teams minus OSU bc being a good team is mainly about how we play and not the opponent.

Correct. I checked out the Penn st roster, and they lose a ton of big contributors in 2018. We will be much more experienced, sprinkle in another strong recruiting class, and I see us getting back in the win column vs them Nov 3, 2018.

I think Franklin is making a mistake starting a continuous grudge match with Jim, running a play inside our 10 with a running clock under 5 seconds. He is forgetting that we weren't even trying to embarrass them when we beat them 49-10. They better come correct next November.

Certainly our recieviers should be better - DPJ has shown improvement and I don’t know why you wouldn’t expect it to continue - Getting Tarik Black back should help - Having Grant Perry for spring practice will be a plus Would also expect McCune and Gentry to continue to improve at tight end

People have been saying this but he doesn’t looks slower to me. He’s never been a burner. His 50 yard TD against Purdue looked just as fast as he’s always been. I really think he’s just gotten worse blocking. He might be getting frustrated too, but he doesn’t look worse to me, it just seems that he’s been given less to work with.

I have my fork and knife ready for that crow. I hope we see massive improvements heading into next year because this shit is unwatchable. Even with the youth and some key injuries, I never thought a Harbaugh team would look this bad, especially in year 3.

These next 3 games are perfect for him to get some good experience before playing wisconsin.  Lets build some momentum with the passing game going into wisconsin and finish this year strong.

I don't know why we can't incorporate some passing spread into our offense. We have all of these talented wide receivers and tight ends that are matchup problems for the defense and we don't properly utilize them. Guarantee if you spread the field with wide receivers and tight ends then it will soften up these aggressive defenses and allow the line some breathing room and the running backs will find some great holes. What was the point of recruiting so many great wide receivers if we weren't going to open it up more?

I know it’s hard for a lot of people on this board to believe (and I said it multiple times in the off-season), but WR is one of the hardest positions for true freshman to break in. Most receivers in high school do the “run downfield and we’ll throw it up to you.” These kids have to learn how to beat press coverage, run a route tree, block, and get hit for the first time in their lives. It’s very rare for a Julio Jones to make an instant impact. These freshman receivers are not ready.

Meritocracy. IIRC, Nick has been hurt since Spring. If he if finally to the point we think he can contribute, play him. our fan base is neurotic. in one topic people are saying the season is lost, so just prepare for next year. in this topic people are saying red shirt him for next year instead of letting him get valuable reps. he still has half the season to get reps for next year.

Some of you guys have too much time between cars pulling up and your having to say, “May I take your order please?” While trolling is an issue at times, it was not “trolling” to be realistic about this season after the MSU loss, and especially after the OT win at Indiana. PSU is the real deal and we were thumped by a way better team. But whether it was time to burn the season two weeks ago or last week, it is time now. Either “QB GURU” is a Harbuagh reputation founded on the good fortune of coaching Andrew Luck, or Branden Peters has some debilitating issue Harbaugh won’t discuss. Time to burn the season and let Peters experience the speed of the game. Even if that means running for his life behind the OL There is enough of the season to finish seasoning The Future.

Nico Collins playing or not playing is far less important than the guy throwing to him. McSorely beat Michigan. Period. He made phenomenal throws, had great vision, reacted with quickness and withstood or evaded pressure. HE won the game for PSU. That is what QBs at national playoff teams do. Time for Harbaugh to wake up and actually do something about the real issue. And it is a QB issue. Period. Not whether to red shirt a WR.

there is nothing more Harbaugh can do at this point halfway through the year. they cannot magically change the entire offense. they cannot get Peters/JOK to make a quantum leap in performance. we are what we are, and we will see what we have on the field next fall with Peters/McCaffery/Speight? and possibly a new offense at that time. it will take months to tweak, not 6 days

McSorley played great, BUT...Moorehead and Franklin put him in great situations to succeed. Their Offensive game plan was brilliant. Get their best guys against our worst. I think the system is some of this. The QB is some too. Not all on O'Korn though, and I have one of those guys pushing for Peters big time. JOK didn't play awful last night, much better than he did against msu or IU. You see any screens? Any short passes? Rub routes? Passing routes are brutal!
