Camp update from Sam Webb
Pretty good stuff, as always.
From his "Inside the Sub" series, this one is free.
If Ulizio has really inserted himself into the mix at RT, that is outstanding news. Would mean at least another viable contender (and depth) at that spot. CB race is going to be so interesting, but as a poster in another thread mentioned, Metellus locking down the other safety spot has to be one of the best developments this spring/fall. Funny I don't think I've heard Glasgow's name once during this camp, after so much visibility in the spring.
In the comments there's a minor panic about a Hurst injury, but it seems to have been talked down.

I think 'trying out an under the radar guy' is a mischaracterization and a disservice to Ulizio. I highly doubt Harbaugh is throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks. I think it far more likely that Ulizio has improved and his play through the fall warrants some run with the 1s. In camp everyone moves around. It helps build chemistry with teammates if you are needed to step in midseason as an injury replacement.

Rita Moreno and Morgan Freeman on Electric Company... DANG.

I'm curious, did you see my name and rip it off or just randomly come up with the same idea on your own? I'm not suggesting it's impossible, but it seems suspicious since I've had this profile pic since 2008.

I'm just always amused by the extent people on this board will go to attempt to rationalize any tidbit as positive when the it's glaringly obvious that the most likely scenario is simply not the ideal one.

Go ahead, make up my arguments for me. Clearly I said the sky is falling and the season is doomed. So sorry for being slightly concerned about the right side of the line. And why would I should I be? Just because a true frosh is pushing for a spot at RG while the presumed leader for RT is a guy who got yanked from the line last year after we lost Newsome? Mercy me, what was I thinking?
August 19th, 2017 at 7:35 PM ^
Mercy you indeed

I don't take stuff like this personally. I love arguing. I know I have been snarky about it because yes I'm having some beers while I brew, but I wouldn't defend myself if I didn't think my concern for RT (and for RG for that matter) was unfounded. I roll my eyes at anyone thinking RT looks anything but a scary spot for this team.
August 19th, 2017 at 8:38 PM ^
You have an interesting definition of "snarky"

Not everyone can live up to the standards of a cartoon character. As Doug once said, "I'd challenge you to a battle of wits but I can't fight someone unarmed."
August 19th, 2017 at 9:43 PM ^
You have a weird fascination with everyone's user names. Sick burn though, bro.
Doug never said that, Quailman did.
That quote doesn't make sense in this context, as I'm not the one trying (and failing) to be witty.

I just wanted to say that I think your comment here is the worst I've seen all night. Was just skimming them before bed and this one struck me as particularly embarrassing. Probably mostly due to your avatar and what not.

Nobody said it wasn't scary, and nobody - in the several months since Spring camp - has said RT is a position of strenght. But, unlike you, everybody is willing to see a possible depth situation as a good thing. You've chosen to take the other route, and you're blaming us for that. Whatever, man... You must be fun at parties.

You asked a question, wanting an answer, and got one. You don't have to like it or agree with it, but don't go complaining about something you started and try not to be such a jabroni about everything.
August 19th, 2017 at 10:44 PM ^
I don't know what a jabroni is, but +1 because it made me smile.

of being part of a fan based forum? You get a chance to discuss all of the details with people who also cant get enough Michigan football. If thats a problem for you get the hell off of here and just read the headlines in the freep like everyone else.

August 19th, 2017 at 7:34 PM ^
Sorry I should have said convincing not coherent. You made a coherent argument in that you equate Harbaugh having sucess with lowly rated recruits at Stanford with Ulizio vying for a starter at RT as a positive. Dubious? To me, yes. Pretty poor argument.
Let's put it this way, no objective observer looking at our RT situation would say, hey, great sign that Ulizio is pushing JBB and Runyan. It's literally simple as that and it takes cognitive dissonant arguments to find a positive there.

August 19th, 2017 at 7:44 PM ^
I see now why you were incapable of actually coming up with a witty name
August 19th, 2017 at 7:46 PM ^
Funny seeing as you are the user I tend to agree with most on this board, especially Re:hoops. But you all have your fun. I'm enjoying it too.
August 19th, 2017 at 7:52 PM ^
I mean, your point about our RT situation being a complete question mark is true, and you're right to be concerned about it until proven otherwise. But then you completely dismissed Ulizio because of his recruiting profile, and then dismissed Harbaugh/Drevno/Frey's history of unearthing next level offensive linemen from the 2 and 3 star pile, which isn't fair IMO. The word is that Runyan has, at the least, looked serviceable, so if he's getting pushed by JBB and Ulizio then it very well could be a good thing.
August 19th, 2017 at 8:03 PM ^
I dismissed him because this was already a questionable race that we thought was two-headed and now we are throwing a third horse in the race and that's somehow a good sign? Commmmme on. Good lord guys. I know you don't all really believe that.
