Fall camp is here
With fall camp offically starting, you do you believe wins the following positions:
-Quarterback
-Center
-Right Tackle
-Both Cornerback spots
-Both Wide Reciever spots
Speight
Kugler
Stueber
Hill/Long
Crawford/DPJ
QB : WS
Center: Ruiz
RT: Runyan Jr.
CB's: Hill and Washington
WR; DPJ and Moe Ways
RB: Higdon
Moe Ways is a bold prediction! Kid hasn't shown anything in 4 years. Hope he shows a lot - hope he NEEDS to show a lot to get the job!
that you kinda "sneeringly" answered the OP on the QB question and then put Ways and Higdon in as starting WR and RB. I would imagine those 2 have the same odds/shot at being starters at their postions as Peters does at QB.
but Higdon has a legit shot at starting.
He made some noise and then got hurt. He's a good blocker. They'll use him at least to start to season. FR WR, even 5 star ones, should be uses sparingly as their screwups tend to be very costly (see Grant Perry vs Utah).
I think this is spot on, I wouldnt mind seeing some athleticism in the slot with DPJ
DPJ projected in the slot at all? I thought he was an outside receiver through and through.
He is not projected in the slot but if we are going to see more 4WR sets, might as well fill the middle with speed.
Im in the camp of if your're good enough to play theres going to be a spot on the field for you. so if he isnt one of the top 2 outside guys why not throw him in the middle on those sets?
I believe we will see McDoom and Perry in the slot before DPJ.
I'll go with:
Speight; Kugler; Runyan; Hill/Washington (with Long getting heavy rotation); Crawford/Black
Submarine due to submerge...
- Peters
- Ruiz
- Runyan Jr
- Hill and Long
- DPJ and Black
curious as to what you are basing the Peters prediction on. Speight played at a pretty high level for most of the season last year before he was injured, is an incumbent with experience and would probably be drafted in the first 3 or 4 rounds of the NFL draft if he improves even moderately next year. What have you seen or heard about Peters that would lead to him displacing Speight?
I'm rooting for Speight as hard as anyone, but I didn't see anything last year to indicate he would be drafted, much less in the first 3-4 rounds. I hope it happens. Just haven't seen it yet. i would assume Santa is making his prediction based solely on talent level.
6'6, very good pocket presence and escapability (at times showing uncanny poise and patience), very accurate on short and medium length passes, and showed an impressive ability to fit the ball into very tight windows. He had a bad game against Iowa and was clearly about 60% against Ohio State. This is true. But Harbaugh made a comment about Speight after the Maryland game and possible Heisman contention, and while it was an exaggeration, at the moment he said it it really wasn't that much of one. I think a lot of people are allowing the end of the season to paint over what was otherwise a really impressive debut for a college QB.
If Speight improves even marginally this season (and probably the following season), someone is going to look at a tall, strong-armed, and surprisingly elusive in the pocket QB and is going to take him in the mid to late rounds
Someone is going to look at a tall, strong-armed, and surprisingly elusive in the pocket QB
Problem is, he isn't "strong armed". Especially not by NFL standards.
He has a significantly weaker arm than Rudock.
Peters put out whole milk and cookies for Santa last Christmas. Duh.
exact response. Clearly, you're a genius.
Runyan
Kugler
Hill + Long
DPJ and Crawford
I think slot and tight end are interesting as well. You could also add RG to the list. I think there will be heavy rotation at WR.
Speight and DPJ are rooming together for fall camp, per Wilton's Instagram Story. Smart move by JH.
Go out on a limb and say Peters at QB
Center - Kugler
RT - Runyon
CB's - Long / Hill
WR's - Black/DPJ
No predictions here, but if Speight wins the QB job the only way Peters will see the field is in mop-up or injury duty. He could win it if injury happens, but not otherwise. Conversely, the same happens if Peters wins the job - Speight's only chance at redemption would be injury to Peters. Personally, I hope whoever wins the job keeps it all year. Don't want to see an injury...
Harbaugh has proven that he won't pull a QB whose struggling some. But you don't get the job back after an injury unless you earn it back. (Amiright, Alex?)
I think this is the best possible scenario. Unless WS has taken a big step back from last year, hes our starter. This will provide (hopefully) plent of garbage time for Peters to get his feet wet before he takes over next year.

...he'll be our starter in 2018 as well.
after a blowout halftime against Cincinnati. It will be great if Peters could play the 2nd half. We need Peters ready to run this team in case Wilton gets injured again.
I know it won't happen, but I really looked forward to those daily videos.
