[LOCKED] OSUs Gareon Conley accused of rape
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Report-NFL-Draft-prospect-Gareon-Conley-accus… Innocent until proven guilty, I presume.
MOD EDIT - We'll lock this one for now. Even with numerous deletions of subthreads yesterday, it's getting off the rails. - LSA
Mostly in the Arb too. The Arb's usage by students/millenials can be entirely attributed to 1) smoking weed and 2) assaulting women.
"Come check out the Arb, students!" No fucking thanks.
3) I used to go sledding in the Arb and take nature walks. Now that I think about it I probably fell into your first category. Memory is shot.
and while I have rarely if ever worried about my son at school, I am none too psyched thinking about how I will handle my daughter at either Boulder or Wisconsin.
thank you for adding the edit. Because teaching daughters to be safe in their surroundings and be able to defend themselves is important, but so is teaching sons to pick up on subtle body language, and to believe that overt statements are accurate and not an invitation to "convince" their partner otherwise etc.
She identified him as having an Ohio State tattoo on his arm. Where have heard about OSU and tattoos before?
Well ESPN had the Peppers story on their front page yesterday for hours. I see nothing of this on their front page now. Plus, we all know drinking too much water and not actually testing positive for banned substances is way worse than sexual assault, right? /s
probably dispute over payment
Speculative injection of prostitution.
Always a bold move.
...only personal experience could inspire this hot of a take.
So now that paying for a female is out, what's left? Down low with your misogynistic bros?
Really hope this isn't true. Starting to get sickened by how many football players are being accused of rape/sexual assault. Have no idea about this case, but in general seems like the problem of rape/sex assault by football players is getting worse, and at the very least, not getting better.
I don't think they're getting worse. I think they're getting exposed.
Likely true. Either way, doesn't seem to be getting better.
Funny how these stories pop up during draft time...
I don't care that this kid is an OSU player, this story sounds pretty odd. He offered you to participate in a Foursome, you said no. But you wanted to go watch them have sex?
I don't really think it's your place to evaluate or make a judgment on that type of decision making. If it's true, she's not obligated to have sex. If she said, "Yep, I'll have a foursome with you!" she's still not obligated to have sex.
It seems odd to me never said said she was a liar though
I get it - but my point is that it doesn't matter if you think it's odd. This is clearly not a situation as usual in any case.
How often have you received an offer or made an offer to be in a foursome? For me, the answer to both is zero.
Frankly, you sound out of touch. Today's society, or youth, are very sex-positive, and many women feel ok with exploring sexual relations and pushing the envelope. Also, its commonly known that today's youth are having more sexual encounters, but not more sex than past generations. They find other ways to satisfy their needs.
This is sad, but as in every other case, Conley is innocent until proven guilty. And I will neither rush to judge nor exonerate, because I am not privy to any of the facts.
My only comment is that this happens everywhere. And Michigan should never give a pass to Michigan athletes who do stuff like this, just because they're at Michigan.
Carl Monday, a Cleveland investigative reporter, broke the story absent Conley's name late last night. He identified him as a "likely high first round pick" which unfortunately meant it could be one of three different Buckeyes but no names were being released.
FWIW he is absolutely and categorically denying that any part of this story is true. Obviously none of us know a thing right now but her story sure seems pretty far-fetched to me.

I dont think the story sounds far fetched. Two people coming home, probably at least somewhat intoxicated, from a late night out (3am), in the same hotel, in the same elavator, and the guy makes an indecent proposal, and she partially accepts. I've seen/heard about more indecent propositions made and accepted. And the fact that it might have led to an unwanted sexual encounter is also not so far-fetched.
It remains to be proved if it actually occurred, but its not far fetched.
What sounds odd to me is that the accuser agreed to enter his hotel room...but to do nothing more than that. I dunno, based on the way she described the circumstance, it just seems like people would think clearer than to do something like that.
Yikes.....I'll reserve judgment until the facts come out. Innocent until proven guilty.
I know that this is probably one of the last things he should be worrying about now, but I think his draft stock is about to take a rather big tumble. He can probably kiss the first round good-bye. Domestic violence is one of the few things the NFL actually takes seriously.
"Domestic violence is one of the few things the NFL actually takes seriously"
At best that's a new development. A few years ago they were just about denying its existence
Being accused of helping some stranger in need. That would be nice.
When is this thread going to be locked?
Accusations of rape ALWAYS degenerate into a "false accusations" vs. "blaming the victim" argument.
...I was argueing that I can treat Conley as a rapist even if he's innocent since I'm not the judicial system.
Just like I can treat OJ as a murderer even if the judicial system failed to "prove" it.
Hope it's not true. These cases are so hard to substantiate either way. He was in line to achieve his NFL dream (I presume) and this comes out now.
Very unfortunate / foolish / idiotic if true.
In before locked.
But the Media will make the pee test a much bigger deal.
"The woman says she declined and offered to watch the other people have sex instead." I'll wait for the results of a full trial process, but at this point I'm not willing to accept her statements about what happened after her decision to observe as fact. I'm happy to be convinced but at this point it's he said she said.
Considering none of us are involved in any way with the case or the people involved we can make all the assumptions we want. I'm going to assume she was looking for a paycheck and it's BS just like Jourdan Lewis's situation is BS. Why? Because what little I know fits those situations more than the opposite and if I'm wrong, who cares, my opinion doesn't matter and it doesnt affect me or anyone else one way or the other.
But at least he didn't drink alot of water before his pee test...
that a mgoblogger who goes by "Casanova" reported this.
Whether true or not, it's just sad to see any negative news this close to the draft. Man, you worked your ass off your whole life to get to this point, about to make millions, then your world comes crashing down.

Whether true or not? If the allegations are true, why should anyone feel sad for a rapist?
