Michigan will play at 7:09pm on Thursday on CBS

I was hoping for the 12:00 or at least the first game. We seem to be doing quite well in that time slot lately...
March 20th, 2017 at 12:13 AM ^
It is reasonable to think that a group of players could be better at getting up early and preparing than others. That being said, I doubt that is the case.

first one to tip on Thursday just no more on weekday afternoons.
March 19th, 2017 at 11:39 PM ^
they won the first one in 1939. Which means they're tied with us.
March 19th, 2017 at 11:41 PM ^
That's referring to football, not basketball, but you are technically correct
March 19th, 2017 at 11:46 PM ^
Yes it is - but the basketball "Championship" they won in 1939 was against Ohio State, so maybe they get some credit there. Anyways, they've been pretty much irrelevant for the better part of 80 years.

Purdue was a Thur/Sat for R1 and 2.
March 19th, 2017 at 11:42 PM ^
No, Purdue played yesterday, but also plays the same night as us. Also, NC played today, but don't play until Friday now. I think they just reset and schedule based on TV ratings and location.
March 20th, 2017 at 12:35 AM ^
You'd think they would keep us on the Fri/Sun rotation. I don't get it.
The dates for the sites are set well in advance. Kansas City is a Thu / Sat site. When Michigan got put into the midwest region, they inherited a Thu / Sat regional. This isn't new; it's been set this way from Selection Sunday.
In bygone days of yore -- pre-pods -- teams used to advance en masse from Saturday's games to Thursday and from Sunday to Friday. However, with the pod system, that's no longer the case; there is no longer any correlation between the first/second round sites and the regional sites, so it's not possible to set it up that way.
For example, Michigan was playing in the midwest region but Kentucky was playing -- in the same building, mind you -- in the south region. Kentucky happens to get Fri / Sun, because that's the schedule in Memphis.
I understand the pod system. I just don't know why they can't have it arranged so that the Sunday teams play on Friday.

I thought he was going to make a bad sex tape in his trailer.

Noooooooooo Reggie Miller.
EDIT: To clarify, we got the garbage announcing team of Harlan, Miller, and Bonner. Which is mostly garbage because of Miller.
South gets Nantz/Hill/Raftery
East gets Uncle Verne and Spanarkel
South gets Anderson and Webber.
Harlan is okay, Reggie is awful, especially if your team is down.
Wish they could slip Gus Johnson back in somehow.

Miller is terrible. His acting in those Amazon Alexa commercials is a step up from his commentating abilities.

This is the 7th time in a row we'll be the first tip of the day in our respective tourney (B1G/NCAA).
March 20th, 2017 at 12:08 AM ^
lets keep it going!
March 20th, 2017 at 12:56 AM ^
Let's make it the seventh win in a row, too.
I'm actually really bummed about this time since I'm on the west coast. Unbelievable they would put our game, which includes a west coast team, first.
I can't imagine that many more KU/Purdue fans would watch at 8:40 Central or 9:40 Eastern compared to 6pm/7pm. But a lot less Oregon/PAC12 fans will be able to watch our game at 4 than would watch it at 6:40 local.
Sigh.

largely Boucher injury related. Also, the information Vegas received from our last two games was much more positive about us than the information it received about Oregon.
was injured before the tournament was seeded. Supposedly they take injuries into account.
That being said, our 7 seed was clearly wrong. There is no way we weren't at least a 6 seed. But it is hard to be upset when Wisconsin clearly got seed-hosed way worse than us. How anyone can say with a straight face that they were an 8-seed is just beyond me, and they clearly have proven it.

Take aim boys and shoot straight.
GO BLUE!!!!
The mission with this team remains the same. Win and play again.
LET'S GO BLUE!!
Going to be another really difficult game, but I think we matchup pretty well with Oregon. I don't see how they'll stop Wagner & Wilson down low. It would be nice to get Dillon Brooks in early foul trouble if he has to match up with Wilson.
Here's the comparison from TeamRankings...

Opp Points/Game | 66.3 | 65.9 |
Opp Effective FG % | 51.90% | 46.60% |

A lot of athleticism on that team that we're going to have to overcome. But we dealt with the same thing with Louisville and we can do it with Oregon.
Will be a very tough matchup, for sure.

Should they get past Oregon, Kansas would concern me a lot. That team is stacked with NBA talent and athleticism across the board. And it would be a virtual home game for them. Lawrence is more or less a suburb of Kansas City. That game would probably be 80-20 KU fans, maybe 70-30 at best.
Not saying Michigan couldn't beat them, but I would much rather play Purdue a fourth time.

Who thought we'd be saying this two months ago? Still gladly eating crow.
March 20th, 2017 at 11:45 AM ^
Against URI I thought Oregon looked sloppy with the ball, and not real tight on defense. I don't think they can run us off the 3 point line AND keep Mo and DJ out of the paint. Louisville couldn't do both and Lousiville is better than Oregon. We'll force turnovers and then spread them out on O. Walton doesn't need to go silly from 3, but if he does we could run them outta the gym. Doesn't even have to be Walton... Irvin, Robinson...any combination hitting regular from 3 and we curb stomp Oregon. If they run us off the 3 we still win with Mo and DJ but maybe not curb stomp.
3 of those 5 teams still left in the tourney.
