We had a championship caliber defense that gave us a shot to win every game. We did not have a championship caliber offense. Still it was almost enough. The offensive line was our Achilles heal followed by the running back. Hope like hell we get a badass OL in place soon

Penn State. Penn Fucking State just won the Big Ten. The same Penn State with a head coach who got out coached by Brady Hoke. The same Penn State that we beat by 39 points.

James Franklin has more championships than Jim Harbaugh.

It's no question who the better coach is...but...fuck, man. This year needs to end. Nothing makes sense anymore.

Dead wrong.  As a lifelong Cubs fan, I can promise you that you have no idea that the LAWS OF PHYSICS are designed against the Cubs.  It defied the very order of the Universe.  For example, every year, the Cubs are the ONLY team mathematically eliminated from the playoffs at the start of spring training.  We over came ALL THAT!!!

This ain't over in this sense . . . we all believe that Michigan is one of the top 4 teams.  We will still get to prove that even if we don't get picked for the CFP.

If all goes to chalk in the CFP and NY6, Michigan will finish third in the entire counrty.

If Alabama blows out their opponent in the title game and we beat FSU convincingly, we may finish second.  In the entire country.  We'd finish higher in the nation than we did in the Big Ten East.

We will still get to show we are indeed a top 4 team, with or without the CFP committee's blessing.

Bo never won a national championship. OSU will always have an easier path than Michigan. We thought we got another Bo. We did. Why expect different results? As an Ohio native and Michigan fan, it's hard to care anymore. This rivalry isn't close.

I'm glad none of you are excited. Yea, this was a great team. Yes, it would've been nice to make the playoffs. We lost two games we shouldn't have and this is the outcome. As a Cubs fan, I can tell you that sometimes you go through a long time of suffering before it finally pays off.

College football isn't binary. You can have a good season without winning the title. Demolishing FSU in the Orange Bowl would put a stamp on Michigan's most successful season in a decade. They beat the crap out of MSU. They curb stomped the B1G Champion (who seems to have a 2015 MSU vibe about them where luck and schedule breaks were the biggest reason for their success).

I know I'll be watching on December 30th, hoping to see this team for one last time.

Can someone explain the Orange Bowl butthurt to me? I get that people want the playoff, that makes sense. What I don't get are the people bitching about not getting the Rose. Is that just a preference? I know there is history with the Rose but that shit got squashed almost with the BCS and completely when the playoff came about. I see zero difference in any of the major bowls. They are all consolation prizes that only the players will care about in the future. No one outside of maybe a few in a fan base will remember who played on the Orange, Sugar, or Rose in a year but everyone will remember the 4 teams in the playoff? I'm not bitching, I just don't get it.

Michigan is a flawed team.

The OL and QB were concerns going in and in the end they proved to be UM's undoing. The decay from the eight years prior to Harbaugh has not yet been fully cleansed. But each year removed from Hoke means UM is that much closer to being fully restored.

Renovations take some time.

I hope they are motivated to play and win. A loss would be a pretty big bummer. It also means we finish tied with last year's record, 10-3.

Absolutely, a loss to FSU and finishing 10-3 would be a huge disappointment and stall some of the momentum we have. This game is a must win, finish 11-2, keep recruits believing big things will come.

has previously stated SOS..who did u play and who did  beat?..If thats truly the case then Washington should be OUT...So lets see if they reverse course this year..Penn St just won the Big title..Everyone agrees its the Best Conf in College FB and Beat #2..Are they going to leave them out?  Most talking heads agree Michigan is one of the best 4 in country and are going t be left out....Is it already time to blow up this system?

I'm not sure we should blow up the system, but what should we replace it with? I think a larger playoff is the answer, but most schools aren't interested in playing more games.
Not trying to be an antagonist, just wondering how fellow bloggers would revamp the system.

A huge reason for this system was because nobody enjoyed the LSU-Bama rematch in 2011. When there's limited interaction between the conferences - and we're actually lucky this year that Ohio State blew out Oklahoma - it is important to weight conference titles and get representation from across the country.

Alabama is an undefeated major conference champion, but everyone else has flawed resumes. Nobody can really complain about being left out, unless they somehow don't take a single Big Ten team. The system - though I was skeptical of it - is working while preserving the importance of the regular season. Don't blow it up. It's fine.

The problem is the committee is not consistent... they screwed themselves earlier this year putting A & M at #4.

On their FAQ page, they first state it's the 4 best teams.

Then a couple of sentences down, they state it's SoS and such.

So... if it's the 4 best, this is what it should be:

1. Bama

2.  OSU

3. Michigan

4. USC

Well, one good thing about going to the Orange Bowl, my brother-in-law and mother-in-law are moving to Coral Gables tomorrow. I guess that gives me a reason for a visit -- and who's going to complain about whether about 40 degrees better than where I would otherwise be,

Just bought Orange Bowl tickets. I live 45 minutes north of the stadium. Now I just need Michigan to be selected. I have a feeling UM will come out with a vengeance no matter where they are.

Go Blue. Eff OSU (and the zebras)

who are saying the Orange bowl is okay, are the exact reason the culture around the program has not been an elite and thus the program has not been elite for the last 20 + years. We settle for mediocrity. You all did it during the Carr years saying 9 and 3 was a good year. Year after year after year. It sucks. It us average. The culture and fan base at Michigan lowers is standards of what elite is to make yourselves feel better about average seasons over and over. This year was a waste. We had the talent and should have at worst finished the year with a lost in the National Championship. Everything else including thw Damn F#!g Orange Bowl or the Rose Bowl or the toilet Bowl is a failure!! RAISE THE BAR.

oh wait, you did...

take a chill pill and relax dude.

there is nothing that can be done in this exact moment except smashing whomever we play in the bowl game, celebrating what we've won, mourning our losses, and moving the fuck on.

Very true, but you have to remember this is Year 2. We are on the rise, but can't cough up games to teams like Iowa and have to be able to win on the road. I feel confident we are trending up, but our expectations for this team changed from the preseason to midseason. The sky is not falling, but after this year, 3 loss seasons are no longer acceptable for this program.
