People, including myself, weren't happy about and complained about going to a Rose Bowl in 2006 instead of the NCG (which we still deserved).

Haven't been back since. Taught me a lesson as a young fan, one of several lessons I'd learn the hard way over the next few years.

I'll never complain about a NY6 game again. It's the very best bowl game tier there is.

The Orange Bowl is the second-oldest bowl game and has incredible history and prestige.

We have a chance to end the season on a high note and send the seniors off with a major bowl victory.

Jim Harbaugh is 1-0 in the Orange Bowl and 2-0 in bowls involving citrusy fruits

...........

That's what they're called. It's a rotation.

We have a chance to end the season on a high note and get 11 wins. As opposed to the alternative which would be playing and getting beat by Alabama at the Peach Bowl, likely by a lot and coming away with nothing.

No one is beating them.

I just wish there was a different rotation this year and we had a chance at the Peach or Cotton Bowl. Would rather play in a major bowl game that we've never won before. As far as Alabama goes, I agree. Maybe our defense can hang with them for a half, but their d-line would destroy our o-line.

We haven't played in the Orange Bowl in 17 years.

Michigan students in their final year of law school were 8 year olds playing with their Christmas toys the last time we were there. I know we have gone to Tampa and Orlando and Jacksonville since, but Miami is it's own thing. It's a much more interesting tourist destination, for one.

Can you post the pic of you in 06 too - five years after this one. I'm fascinated (and impressed) that somebody I think in 4th or 5th grade would have the football insight to be outraged at our Bowl placement.

Now that's precocious.

might be called "NY6" bowls, but the non-semi four are absolutely in a tier below the semis.  I'm not saying people shouldn't be excited (don't really care, feel however you want) but to say we're in the highest tier of bowls is correct in semantics only.  It is not the same.  The stakes are completely different. The exposure is completely different. The perception of the participants is completely different.  Non-semi NY6 games are closer to the Little Caasers Pizza Bowl than the CFP.

Why are people conceding that we would get beat by Bama? They put on their pads just like everybody else. That shit is so weak to me. You only get better by playing the best. Fans are confusing nowadays. Just a week ago we were talking about beating OSU and being the #2 seed. So if we would've beat Clemson, what would we have done then? Pack up and stay home because we are scared of getting whooped by Bama in Tampa? Give Harbaugh a month to prepare and Saban wouldn't know what hit him. We know what happened the last time an offensive guru(ewww! I hate giving Meyer props) had that amount of time to prepare for the tide.

Which we still deserved? Jesus Christ.

I won't give you credit and say you sack for saying that. So...how DUMB, how BIASED do you have to be to say that after what Florida and USC did to the Big Ten that year?

You finally had it right when you were on your "my life is worthless" trip the other day.

take on the attitude of the people around them, and most of us were really butt hurt about being dropped to no 3, and the Rose Bowl representing the consolation prize, his memory and lesson learned is a good one.

My son was 8, and didn't get why I was so angry at an LSU / Bama BCS game.

(Apparently Delany is still pissed based on his quote during one of the games last night.)

Don't need to be in his presence. Harbaugh could be like Santa - he knows when you've been bitching and he knows when you doubt the team. Don't be surprised if you get someone showing up at the door soon, instead of singing telegram it could be a bitchslap (unexploited business opportunity there).

jumped the fucking shark getting all excited about PSU after their win tonight.  He is just trying to protect his fucking Buckeyes from a neutral site rematch without Bobby Sagers and friends to protect his beloved pals from a reality that involves actual rules and such.

No one will say it, but I'm pretty sure Speight got hurt sometime in the first half. He was doing fine -- and then all of a sudden, he looked like Speight version 2015. Obviously no one was going to say it, but if you look at his ability to throw downfield after the early part of the Iowa game, something was up (or down, as some may put it).

Given where UM was two years ago, we're whiny and petulant to claim we won't watch the Organge Bowl as some have on here, Twitter, etc.

But the competitor in me is disappointed.  We'll have plenty of time between the end of the season and the Spring Game (and even afterward) to do the position by position post mordem and the looks ahead to the 2017 depth chart in between the excitement about recruting.

I think Michigan is one of the four best teams in college football, but they won't get the chance to compete in the Invitational (I refuse to call it a Playoff), and that sucks.

I believe that Jim Harbaugh's first championship as a head coach will be a National Title brought home to Ann Arbor.  I just didn't want to have to wait!

Except it is terribly disappointing for our best team since 1997 to end up with a consolation prize. We beat everyone solidly and lost two games by one play each. The road to get back to this point will be significantly tougher too given PSU's success and MSU at a historic low that won't be repeated next year. Maybe I'm worried about nothing but a few more unlucky breaks and we still end up without a Big Ten title or playoff the next few years.

Very important.  Our seniors deserve to go out with a big win over a good team.  If in the Orange Bowl, so be it.  Good recruiting.   Personally think Colorado played their way out of the Rose Bowl Friday night, and USC will likely hammer PSU in Rose Bowl.
