Then it should have been played on January 2nd like the Rose, Sugar and Cotton Bowl. Although... the 30th is on a Friday so it's gonna be perfect for drinking.
We were up 17-7 against them and 10-0 against Iowa. Yes the refs were garbage, but at the end of the day it's our own fault for not finishing those games. I remember Harbaugh talking about this when he first took over the team. They watched games from 2014 and the biggest issue was 4th quarter collapses. The team has improved, but you just can't fix all the problems right away. The O-line is what it is. Whenever the team needed to run the ball to close out a game (MSU last year, OSU/Iowa this year) they just couldn't do it.
Washington and Michigan will play in the Rose Bowl. That's actually best case scenario for us at this point. But I just can't see them taking a 2 loss PSU over a 1 loss Washington which dominated in their title game against the #8 team in the country.
I just wish there was a different rotation this year and we had a chance at the Peach or Cotton Bowl. Would rather play in a major bowl game that we've never won before. As far as Alabama goes, I agree. Maybe our defense can hang with them for a half, but their d-line would destroy our o-line.
Weber is good, but he's not an elite back. I wish we had landed Damien Harris, even if it meant keeping Borges for another year... still can't believe Hoke/DB fell for the Nussmeier hype.
The only chance we had was if Colorado and Penn State won. Everyone would have had two losses and we beat both teams by a big margin. Washington winning big has officially closed the door.
PS-There's zero chance of Clemson losing tonight...
But we won't be able to run the ball against them (their LBs are even better than Wisconsin and they did a hell of a job stopping us) and our O-Line would get destroyed, especially Kalis and Cole. On top of that, Speight will not be 100% so good luck trying to beat Bama with short passes.
Don't wanna sound like a pussy, but I would rather have Wisconsin win big tonight and make the playoff, which would open up a spot for us in the Rose Bowl. We haven't been to Pasadena in a long time and I would enjoy beating a very good USC team. Orange Bowl vs FSU or Louisville just doesn't do it for me. Neither team is that great, although facing Jackson would give our defense more practice at stopping an elite spread QB.

We should have lost to Colorado instead of Iowa.

Had we beaten Iowa we would have a great case. I still can't believe we gave that game away after we were up 10-0. Damn it to hell fucking Iowa....
How the fuck did we lose to Iowa?! We were up 10-0......
Thomas Rawls!
That said he was the price for Harbaugh as he recommitted with Hoke departure so it was a necessary sacrifce.
Wasn't he coming here until we fired Borges (something about his high school coach being close with Al). That was two years before Harbaugh.

I remember watching that game and thinking how amazing it would be to have him coach at Michigan.
I miss the good old days when College Gameday felt genuine.
Especially this year since it's played on December 30th.
