Baron Browning to Columbus

Seemed to have a great time on his visit, but didn't seem like a candidate to join the good guys. Here's hoping Herman flips him to Texas.....

Some evidence was presented that he could be an MSU fan, but there is certainly no evidence that he is a UM fan. And honestly, even if we was a Michigan fan, the fact that he spotted the ball where he did would show evidence that he is an objective referee. Nothing the refs from Ohio did in that game showed evidence of objectivity.

This class is unreal that Ohio is putting together. We still are +1 in coaching, I truly believe that. Ohio will always rely on athletic ability, not so much scheme or knowledge of the game and I think the players that were drafted into the NFL are good examples of this. Scheme will outsmart athletes, scheme with athletes will topple pure athletes. Don't hate, just look forward to great games with Ohio.

Of nepotism perhaps.

Aside from that, his development of receivers (given the rather full cupboard he inherited at tOSU) has been at best middling.

A quick review of JT Barrett pass numbers this year bears this out easy.

FWIW, I don't get exactly why he's such an idiot on Twitter given his "career accomplishments" and coat tail riding but whatevs.

You know OSU's leading WR had literally 14 catches the year before Zach Smith got there, right? He turned Philly Brown, Evan Spencer and Devin Smith into NFL WRs. He turned Jalin Marshall and Braxton Miller from QBs into NFL WRs. Mike Thomas is the best rookie WR in the NFL. He turned Curtis Sameul from a high school RB into one of the best WRs in the B1G.

OSU's passing game in general has struggled this year. Our RT was really bad. Our LG is 18. JT is skittish under pressure. The dropoff from Herman at OC has been huge. Like I said, you can hate Smith's personality, but the dude has been a good coach for OSU. And he just recruited 2 five stars for this year's class, while getting us in the room with DPJ. He's ok.

And JT has more yards, TDs and less interceptions than Speight. So idk man. What about your WRs?

The waaaambulance for your pansy assess. Quit your crying. Nothing we can do about it. Usc for years and years had 5 stars- they got beat. They're not unbeatable. Ask old Penn state.

It helped when the NCAA finally decided to do something about their violations and Carroll conveniently left for Seattle when the writing was on the wall.  The NCASS doesn't seem too concernred to look into anything OSU is doing (or anyone else for that matter...)

It's because they lost a lot of starters. I'm not sure what year they all were, but based off what the guy above you was saying, they weren't a bunch of freshmen and sophomore, mostly RS sophomores, juniors and RS juniors.

"With the way urban is recruiting they are likely to always be a young but talented team."

I'm afraid that we'll turn into a one or two and done type of school. No one had really heard of Malik Hooker before this year. Now some are saying that he could go in the 1st round. Experience goes a long way on college football. I fear that we could be lacking it for years to come...except maybe at QB.

We need a dominant O-line, a Harbaugh developed QB, and Don Brown's defense.

Surround this with a top 5 class year in and year out and we will beat them consistently.

NFL system > Urban Gimmick offense.

We saw what an NFL type defense does to Urban's offense.  We just need the O-line now and we will pro-style them to crap, just like Saban did Meyer at UF once he got his players and system set up.

Probably 2018. Imagine this year's freshmen as juniors, and the incoming guys as sophomores. They're going to be good. And don't sleep on next year either. Remember that in Harbaugh's big 2010 season when they went 12-1, he had a handful of sophomores who had been decent recruits, he had Andrew Luck, and then he had a bunch of 2 and 3 star nobodies (many of whom went on to be drafted).

If harbaugh doesnt beat osu till 2018 thats unacceptable. He makes 9 million a year he better win next year. With the classes urbans putting together and will continue to get this series could be dominated by osu. 1-3 vs osu would get any other michigan coach fired and harbaugh should face the criticism if that happens.

Thank God someone else around here has my mindset on this. Next year's UM team isn't goiing to be 2007 USC but don't sleep on 'em! A few key areas determine a lot and cover up areas that may be suspect...

1. Excellent quarterback play: This elevates the entire team and covers up a lot. I expect Speight to be a legit big time guy next  year

2. D-line play: D-line will kick ass next year. Not as deep so someone needs to step up but starting talent almost as good as this year

3 O-line play: Admittedly a concern

I expect Michigan to be elite in #1 and #2 above. WIll we miss our two stud wr's and jake butt? Hell yeah...but excellent qb play and some young talent will make up for it. Not to mention some playmakers liek mcdoom and evans who are really setup for breakout years next year.

I'm a pessimist about Michigan football but I'm incredibly optimistic about a solid 10-2 season next year and in the hunt for a big ten title and playoff spot.

I'm going to say this even though it is basically verboten, because I've been drinking heavily on a Thursday night and I don't give a shit. Speight just isn't that good. His numbers look good because Harbaugh is a mad QB developing magician. But with an average QB we beat OSU by 17. Once Peters/McCaffrey et al are in and primed we will be dominant.

Certainly Speight has been more than what we'd hoped for at the beginning of the season. Yes, he has been great in some games (Rutgers/Maryland) and adequate in others, but he was sorely below average vs IOWA and then never really rose up above the expectation to take the charge of the game (OSU) (there are others factors of course). The latter is what separate a great one from an average one. Sure this is his first year, but there is a some hard to grasp built in limitation or blockage that may prevent him from ever being a gamechanger type of Q that we all wish from him as a Michigan Q.

What I am afraid of is that he has reached his plateau and we may have to shift our hope on Peters/McCaffrey to be the gamechanger for Michigan.

Their class is amazing but we can still have a better offensive class.  Better QB, WR's, RB (if we get Harris), OL could be about equal.  We'll see.

but even in the Peter Carroll days at USC, they'd still lose to Oregon State. We're recruiting right behind OSU and have one of the best coaching staffs in the country. I'm not that worried.
