OT: ND blocks Zaire from transferring to MSU and others
Brian Kelly... still being an ass (a defensible move, but still an ass move).
At least we do not need to worry about a sudden upgrade in MSU's QB position.
To hell with Notre Dame!

But we're not talking Nate Montana, either. That was fun while it lasted, wasn't it?

I'm not sure that you can compare Zaire and Montana.
November 30th, 2016 at 4:43 PM ^
the US state of Montana has a population of 1.02 million in an area of 147,164 sq miles.
Angola's Zaire Province has a population of 567,225 in an area of 15,490 sq miles.

Boom. Compared.

For the record, that was the joke that I was making. But I'm glad that I tee it up for Engin77!

i/o Angola. Sure, you may know it Democratic Republic of Angola. But she'll always be Zaire to me.

Jim McElwain to Oregon.
Chip Kelly to Florida.
Brian Kelly to 49ers.
Lane Kiffin to Notre Dame.

Miles to Notre Dame. I called when Les got the sack.

Maybe this is ND's payback to MSU for "Little Giants" a few years ago. Bwahahahahaha...
November 30th, 2016 at 2:37 PM ^
Normally I would understand blocking a transfer from going to a team on your schedule the next year, but you are 100% right about this.
November 30th, 2016 at 4:48 PM ^
How pissed would we all be if those of us who did our undergrad at Michigan, had Michigan dictate which grad schools we could go to? It's BS
November 30th, 2016 at 5:49 PM ^
There are no issues with him transferring to MSU to pursue grad studies. Just with him having immediate eligibility to play football while he's there.
November 30th, 2016 at 6:34 PM ^
Is he a grad transfer? I didn't think you could block ANY grad transfer as long as the school they're going to has a program your school doesn't.
November 30th, 2016 at 3:19 PM ^
Especially true given that Kelly played Zaire by indicating he was a co-starter at the start of the year, which likely kept him from transferring at the beginning of the year. That charade lasted about two quarters.

Kizer is a Junior, but many think he will be headed to the draft early.

Does anyone know if Kizer isn't thrilled with Kelly? He is the biggest A-Hole coaching football today, at any level. My guess is that Kizer may feel a similar way.

The fact that the NCAA allows this, and yet wants us to believe they are "amateurs" yeah...
November 30th, 2016 at 2:31 PM ^
I don't normally have an issue with coaches doing this, but not one who can't even promise he will be there next year.

Because that is coach-neutral (though I wonder why North Carolina was left off that list).

While he certainly has outplayed his draft position (UDFA), he was pretty meh at MSU.

I would have guessed that his completion percentage was higher.

After watching their QB play this year, Hoyer probably seems like Joe Montana to the msu faithful.
November 30th, 2016 at 4:04 PM ^
Hoyer was more than four QBs ago. Since him they've had Cousins, Maxwell, Cook, O'Connor and Lewerke.

Don't forget the savior of the BYU game, Damion Terry!

I don't think it's defensible at all. Zaire is a grad transfer so he should be free to transfer wherever he wants.
November 30th, 2016 at 2:43 PM ^
He's not even transferring. He's finishing up one educational experience by graduating, and then moving on to another institution like anybody else would. They shouldn't be able to block that.
November 30th, 2016 at 5:52 PM ^
But they're not blocking his educational opportunity at MSU. They're blocking his ability to be immediately eligible to play football while he's there.
In other words, he's free to play school without restriction, just not football.
November 30th, 2016 at 2:47 PM ^
And photocopy his playbook for his new team? I agree in concept, but not in reality.
