OT - Fuck Cancer

Submitted by Cali Wolverine on
Looking for positive vibes, thoughts and prayers today from the board for a fellow Wolverine. As some of you know, my wife has been battling cancer for over 5 years. Unfortunately, we found out that she has developed a brain tumor. She is having the tumor removed today and her surgeon is very optimistic. Fortunately, for us we happen to have one of the best neurosurgeons in the country performing the surgery, and like my wife and I, he of course is a University of Michigan graduate (both undergrad and medical). So we are in good hands. Go Blue! On a side note, I really appreciate this blog. It is an amazing place to find all things Michigan and to get away from the real stresses of everyday life at times and for that I am grateful. EDIT: Our MGoDoctor attacked the cancer with an enthusiasm unknown to Mankind. This Doc is the Harbaugh of neurosurgeons. Doc said surgery went really well, and got the tumor out safely. Hopefully, there are no complications and my wife can get back on her feet quickly to battle the rest of the cancer that has metastasized in her lungs.

Yep.  Cancer sucks.  Prayers and positive thoughts to your family, especially you and your wife.  Cancer is a bitch, been very close to me.  Stressful times.  Great to hear they're optimistic, it's amazing how far we've come in being able to beat this shitty ass dissease.

Those are reassuring words to hear from the surgeon that he is optimistic about removing the tumor. Best of luck and I hope this allows your wife to live many years to come.

is a phrase I say or think everyday. I work in oncology and am regularly blown away by the strength and determination of those who fight this battle. We are living in an age of dynamic proliferation of antineoplastic therapies, both cytotoxic and immunologic. I am confident that it is only a matter of time before this irredeemable affliction is neutralized. Good luck to your wife. With the strength she obviously possesses to continue this fight, however, she needs no luck.

Posts like this remind us that at the end of the day, football is just a game. A trivial, insignificant game. There are far more important things, and it's great to know that your wife is without question in the hands of one of the best neurosurgeons in the country.

Best of luck today! Your MGoFamily is thinking about you!

if you have the time, watch the youtube video done by U of M Alum  G. Edward Griffin entitled World Without Cancer. I hope this helps, and good luck.

Just want to say to all the guys out there please take those medical visits. Lost my best friend 8 years ago at the age of 20 to testicular cancer. They felt like it could have had a better outcome if they caught it earlier. So I urge everyone if something seems off go get it checked out, don't push it out. It can definitely be a real life saver.

Been through a lot the last few years with family members dealing with very difficult cancers, so this does strike a chord. Stay positive Cali, and God bless you and your wife with lots of hope and many years of love.

Sending prayers!  We lost a very dear friend 3 years ago to his third battle with cancer and it wrenches my heart every time I think about the impact he made on our community with how he fought but that he can no longer be with his family,

Keep Fighting!  Thoughts and prayers to you, your wife, and the medical staff performing the surgery.
