OT - Fuck Cancer

Submitted by Cali Wolverine on
Looking for positive vibes, thoughts and prayers today from the board for a fellow Wolverine. As some of you know, my wife has been battling cancer for over 5 years. Unfortunately, we found out that she has developed a brain tumor. She is having the tumor removed today and her surgeon is very optimistic. Fortunately, for us we happen to have one of the best neurosurgeons in the country performing the surgery, and like my wife and I, he of course is a University of Michigan graduate (both undergrad and medical). So we are in good hands. Go Blue! On a side note, I really appreciate this blog. It is an amazing place to find all things Michigan and to get away from the real stresses of everyday life at times and for that I am grateful. EDIT: Our MGoDoctor attacked the cancer with an enthusiasm unknown to Mankind. This Doc is the Harbaugh of neurosurgeons. Doc said surgery went really well, and got the tumor out safely. Hopefully, there are no complications and my wife can get back on her feet quickly to battle the rest of the cancer that has metastasized in her lungs.

My in-laws have lost 2 members to different cancers in the last 2 years. My family has been more fortunate. I don't wish the pain of suffering on anyone. Praying your wife makes it through and recovers. If she doesn't, I pray y'all find peace in the times you did have together. F cancer.

You and your wife fight with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind and I will pray in the same manner.  Lost my dad to cancer and my wife has battled it and, so far, beaten it.  Go Blue and Fuck Cancer...along with Penn State.

Fuck cancer indeed. My mom has defeated cancer 4 times. The fifth time is not the charm as she currently lays on her death bed. She has been strong and brave in her fight, my only wish is this I couldn't get her away from those rubes at UT in time to get her up here to UM and save her one last time. Go Blue and good luck.

Went through something similar to what you're going through with my girlfriend (25 yrs)  and ovarian cancer a year ago.  Now we're training for a half marathon in november and her markers are good so far (fingers crossed).  You two will get past it and come out stronger on the other side!  Extrememly difficult stuff but I'm sending you all the positive vibes I have.

I am sorry for your pain. Caregiving is hard and its effects are cumulative. My son suffers for Epidermolysis Bullosa. He is 8 years old and we are currently waiting for some positive effects from a bone marrow transplant he had in December. Life stops when there is a critically ill person in the house!

She will look to you for strength, compassion and attentiveness.  Consider prayers and positive vibes sent to your wife and to you.

My husband, a UM grad, got a cancer diagnosis recently.  Some things are hard to hear and scary, but information is power.  We rise up and find strength when we need to.  You will too.

By the way, I agree this site is a God send.  My husband has found solace here, and an escape into something he is truly passionate about and gives him something cancer cannot touch.

you and your wife beat that scurge of this country and she come out of the ER cancer free. My wife and I just got the scare of our lives when we noticed her one eye much more dilated than the other. We left the Dr's office with heavy hearts knowing why he was ordering an MRI of her head ASAP.

Talk about being scared straight, going back to his office to get the results which obviously were negative, put the fear of God in us and we wish you and your wife the best and we will call on our higher power to give you two the chance to love and live a long life together. May all that is good follow you my friend of MgoBlog.

All our prayers, thoughts and hope from Montreal.

Cancer has taken some of our closest, and has been beaten by others. My wife still fighting it. Her positive attitude is a light, our strength, her weapon against it.

You & your wife can and will change the world Cali. You know it.

I read this post while eating lunch at work, which happens to be in a lab researching a way to beat cancer. I thought of the post when it was getting about time to head home and decided to stay later and run some extra data I otherwise would've put off until tomorrow. So a.) hope everything when flawlessly today and b.) in some small way, your post might've moved the field just a tiny bit closer to a better treatment.
