OT- The most beautiful place in the world

Submitted by Mabel Pines on

So my Mom is from the East Coast and has been to a lot of places.  The other day she told me she thought Arcadia Bluffs was the most beautiful place she had ever seen.  What do you think?  What is/ are the most beautiful places in the world?  Places we should visit.  (obvs, a full Big House after a nice win, but where else?)

Can't disagree with a lot of the ones that have been mentioned so far. A few additions:

- Nepal, watching the sun rise over the Himalayas

- Maasai Mara in Kenya

Also pretty tough to beat anywhere on Lake Michigan or Lake Superior in the less busy areas.

The US Army sent me there for a Nato nuke school back in the mid-80s.  Simply gorgeous there, good food and good beer..

James River Visitors Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Monroe, VA. Bridge takes you over the river with picnic spots on either side. mountain views down both sides of the river. nice trails branching off in all directions. great place to get engaged.

Plitvice National Park in Croatia, or the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland on a sunny day.
Also the highest point in the El Yunque Rainforest in PR was one of the most magnificent views I've ever seen.

There are a lot in here that can't really be disputed. I'm surprised no mentions of Scotland though. I think Isle of Skye is up there with some of the most beautiful places I've seen.

Rio de Janiero is pretty damn cool. Also, some coastal areas of Thailand are absolutely breathtaking.

I don't think I've been to the most beautiful place in the world yet, but the most beautiful I've seen so far is the Dordogne River Valley in France.

My buddy & I once drove over a mountain pass in Colorado just as the storm snow was clearing and we stopped the car and screamed for joy for the beauty of the mountain vista and the excitement of new snow – we were headed to Aspen.

Top of any decent ski slope

Any pristine beach with good surf action - Hawaii has so much beauty

Yosemite – once climbed to the top of Half Dome and saw the sunset

Napoli Coast on the western edge of Kauai

Havasu waterfall at the bottom of the Grand Canyon

Sleeping Bear Dunes

Bermuda, especially after sailing for 10 days in stormy weather

Sistine Chapel ceiling

Michigan stadium at the start of a big game

One of my daughters just visited Machu Picchu and Bali and her pictures looked amazing

Some of the places suggested on the topic above make me want to visit. Greek Islands and New Zealand both sound amazing.

-Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe/Zambia
-St. Moritz, Switzerland
-Mauritius
-St. John, USVI

In Italy, primarily Manarola. At night you can hear the waves lapping and crashing against the rocks as the town sleeps (except for a few lovebirds and drunks), and during the day you awake to the smell of the sea and can watch people work the fields created up on the hills within shouting distance. I'd be okay dying there.

I'm very far from being the outdoorsy type (camping is almost a curse word to me). However, back when I lived in Arizona, at least once a year, my wife and I would head up to Sedona just to hike the trails and take it all in. Now that is an absolutely beautiful place.

aside from the proposal thing, the most beautiful place I think I've ever actually seen is Lungthul, Manipur, India. I was the first American to ever visit the village of about 600 people. Also the first to hike up Lungthul mountain. I didn't have a flag so I carved USA into a rock along with a block M. You could see Burma, Mizoram, and a 360 view of mountains around you.
