Rashan Gary at Pizza House

Submitted by BeantownBlue on

I just ran into Rashan Gary, Drew Singleton, and a couple Paramus Catholic coaches at Pizza House.  Told 'em we love players from New Jersey and that Paramus has been good to us so far  (they laughed).  Said I thought they'd find Ann Arbor to be a good place to spend their college years, they said they agreed.

Feel free to delete this if this doesn't add enough to the discussion.  I'm only posting because I was not aware that Gary was in town on an unofficial and thought folks might find that to be positive news.  If it is common knowledge he's in town, you may also feel free to delete!

I'm kind of new to this. LoL In all actuality, it is a cool story. I got the chance to meet Ian Bunting while he was still being recruited by us in the hotel lobby of the Sheraton Hotel while checking out after Under the Lights II. He was looking to get the key to the pool. While I looked like Warwick Davis standing next to him, I asked if he was a player or a recruit, he said recruit. Seeing how tall he was, I asked if his name was Ian, and he replied that it was. I asked him what he thought of the game and he stated that he enjoyed it and that he would be making a decision soon. I advised him to be a better playmaker at tight end (I believe Jake had a couple of drops during the game). He said he thought he had better hands then Jake. I handed him my key to the pool and told him and his friend to have fun, but not too much as the front desk lady was no joke. She kicked us out of the pool three times the night before. *Sigh*, good times.

lol I also lived on Packard SR year and I might have been in Bells when you asked this (someone in Bells asked why their food was more expensive and the guy talked about prices going up). Did you ask this last year? I was behind you ordering a calzone

I'd get Bells usually once a week walking back from a class I had on Thurs or Wed (can't remember) from 5-8. Pepperoni/sausage calzone. One time the guy thought I asked for a pepper/cheese calzone (which was disgusting when I went home and saw what it was)

I wish it was last year, but it was actually in 1997 or 98... getting old and can't remember too well. The $5 deal was take out only, but since my roommate ate there every day, we could get delivery. It was fun to order and ask for them to bring it over because we were too drunk to walk across the street.

I did too, in those sh!tty ass apartments on State Street with the parking garage below them, next to what used to be an Espresson Royale on the corner of state/packard. The only redeeming quality of those apartments was the late night bells pizza, the close proximity to blue front and spots, and getting junk mail with Cato June's name on it.  So basically it was an awesome apartment!

While a sophmore, I ran into Denard on a visit.  As expected, he couldn't have been more friendly.  We even joked about racing in a 40...it didn't happen, but I think it would have been close

Wait, there is only one thing I don't understand about this story...were you a "sophmore" or was Denard? Though in hindsight you both could have been sophomores and the story still works.

I saw a group of recruits on campus and I walked over to them and was like, hey homies how's it hangin? I then askeed if they'd like to hang at my apartment and watch a fresh prince marathon. One guy was bout to say yes but he got out voted by the others. I said no prob homies but im fo sizzle we'll see each other round campus once yall commit. They all gave me a weird look, like the look you get when they know you know something you shouldn't know, but it's all good!!! they cool with it! Finally I just gave them a crooked half smile and said see y'all on the flip side and did a moon walk back to my bicycle. I think I was a real good rep for the Uni, yo.
