After reading some of your comments, I kinda miss the days where Brady Hoke would just fill the entire class up by August and take the rest of the year off. That way we could lose 5 games and let Derrick Green gain 40 pounds of fat and still honor his scholarship.

manage to make honoring a scholarship offer sound like a horrible thing

I was going to inform my wife this afternoon who I am planning to sleep with tonight.

we'll be more than fine.

How can you be a commit if you say you're deciding on NSD? It's getting pretty laughable at that point. Maybe it's just to drag out the attention.

Harry Connick Jr. song "I'll Love You Forever, For Now" crootin.

I love you,
forever,
but if I didn't,
which I do,
I might love one of these two other girls
forever,
which I don't.
I'm not not loving you
forever, for now,
but at our wedding,
they will both be there in wedding dresses,
just in case something changes,
which it won't.

then finds out that his team doesn't have any remaining spots available.

I hear Maryland just lost a couple recruits to Slytherin.

WR is the least of our worries. We need LBs!

Ace Anbender put in a CB for him to Notre Dame today fwiw. I currently have no idea what our class will look like coming NSD. Its like a rollercoaster right now.
January 20th, 2016 at 6:30 PM ^
I'm tempted to stop following recruiting and let everything be a surprise on NSD.

I'm really trying to make sense of all this crootin' stuff and I honestly don't know what to think.
Seems wrong that Harbaugh would pull a scholarship a couple weeks before signing day. But it also seems wrong that a verbal commitment doesn't mean jack shart and a kid can flip the day before NSD. Thinking from a coach's perspective, I can understand why overloading a class seems somewhat necessary. How is a staff supposed to fill every need when they don't know who's gonna commit and who's gonna abandon their verbal last minute? Take Elliot for example: he's a huge need at DT with the massive attrition coming next year. The staff needs to be able to pursue others (Talagoa, Dwumfour, etc) in the dubious yet possible case that Elliot doesnt sign.
Ultimately, recruiting is insane. There is no perfect solutiion.

That's a new one
Kind of sucks that we'll accept this while tellling a kid who stayed committed for 2 years to look elsewhere

If Mr Johnson is a "Michigan Commit," what's he doing pulling hats on Signing Day? If he is not honoring any "commitment" to M, does M need to honor any commitment to him? My guess is M will continue to recruit as if he's uncommitted, and, as someone said earlier, if Johnson selects M on Signing Day, M will honor that decision if a spot's available for him. If not, M's response is "too late!"

Mr Johnson is playing with fire. One of the three will have room for him on NSD, but it might not be his first choice.

Commitments just don't mean a ton at this point. It goes both ways. I don't have a giant issue with this because it makes things better if both sides aren't on board.
Maybe the kid saw UM bringing in extra WRs and didn't want to be a part of it, maybe coaches hinted he should look elsewhere, maybe he's having second thoughts about a new offer he didn't have before. Whatever reason it's where he's going to school for the next for years and this is what a "commit" means right now. It's not binding, which means this will occur, but also means UM can walk away when it needs to.
January 20th, 2016 at 11:33 PM ^
He committed to commit on signing day.
