and then the first game where he saw anytime, a home game, can't remember the opponent, I remember wanting very badly to be impressed but I was more like "huh, work in progress I guess." In fairness to Green, he did start to run the ball pretty good before he went down in the loss to (sigh) Rutgers two years ago.

Yep, I'm no talent evaluator but one of the things I look for when evaluating a RB is running through tackles. Green looked like a beast, big guy with pretty good burst who ran like he wanted to hit somebody. Problem is whenever he hit something he went down.
FWIW I have some of the same concerns about Davis. Walker, on the other hand, shows the ability to run through tackles in his film.

He's followed the entire UF staff on the twitter recently.

I imagine the Nuss connection might be there, but if he's looking to play I'm not sure why he would expect to play at Florida when he was probably 4th string at best here. Maybe he really is just looking to get to warmer weather and get a grad degree. Would've thought he'd want to go play somewhere though

It would have been nice if it had worked out as his choosing Michigan felt like a huge coup at the time. I wish him well and hope he has better success on the field elsewhere.

Sorry things didn't work out for Derrick Green at Michigan. Best of luck to him at his new university.

Glad he was/is able to get his degree. I still have a ball his high school art teacher got signed for me, haha.

I don't think that had anything to do with it. I believe he had left the team by that point.

and never recovered from it. Best of luck to you, Derrick. Thanks for giving it a try.

Disappointing that it didn't turn out as we all had envisioned, but hope he gets a shot to play more next year.

I wish him luck wherever he goes. It's been disappointing with running backs for Michigan for a while now. I really hope our luck is on the upswing now with Harbaugh and Wheatley here.

My kids and I met him once. He seemed like a nice young man and was great with my kids. I'm sorry that things didn't turn out as expected and wish him well.

Maybe he isn't a grad transfer. He could either go to a FCS-level team and play immediately, or go to another FBS team, redshirt for a year, then play his senior season.

Grad transfer. Congrats to him on his degree.

I always thought he had the size and desire, it just never seemed to me he was willing to use his size to punish tacklers. Stopped moving his feet and had little ability to cut outside when holes were stuffed.
That being said, he was also victim to two years of the worst offensive line play in Mich history. It would have sucked to try and be a back in the 2012 & 2013 seasons.
January 15th, 2016 at 3:25 PM ^
I never saw the desire. He showed up his Fr year overweight, and the last time I saw him in a game this year he was looking...soft?

He did show a lot of improvement his SO year and had slimmed down. But this past year, whether it was due to being behind other players or something else, he seems to have lost any desire.

(2nd time I've seen the 2012 season mentioned here, so I thought I'd stop the propagation.)

NBC Sports article is here - LINK
To confirm what others have mentioned:
The running back is expected to stay in school until he graduates in the spring. At that point, he’d be a grad transfer eligible to play immediately in 2016 if he ends up at another FBS program. That would be his final season of eligibility, although the back does have a redshirt he could use if it became necessary.
I would imagine he'll find a Power Five landing spot. It's a bit disappointing that it didn't work out quite as we had all hoped when he got here, so hopefully he can find a place where he'll get some major time in - best of luck to him.
January 15th, 2016 at 3:57 PM ^
He may land at a P5, but if he does I don't think he would play. He is just not a good RB for a P5 school. I could see him landing at a Group of 5 team and maybe getting some carries.
January 15th, 2016 at 3:10 PM ^
he was going to be the start of something special. It is ultimately, but probably not like either of us thought.
I think he will do well at another place, I thought his best game was @ Rutgers where he broke his collarbone. It seemed like he had turned a corner of sorts.
Got the degree, time for a new adventure! These grad transfers seem to have a way of working out well for everyone.

Best of luck to him. Given our recent track record with RB transfers, I'm sure he'll be leading an NFL team in rushing his rookie season.
