Ironic, because it's the bosses that need to go... Listen guys, this is the NFL. Nobody gets there without being amazingly good at football. From there, it's all about coaching and confidence. The Lions aren't bad because of some inherent badness. They are bad because awful decision-making has put them in a position to fail. It's possible that some of these guys have been ruines forever by the bad management and coaching, but my theory is that it only takes a nudge to remind people who should be amazing at football that they are capable of being amazing at football. Here's hoping for some rebound competence.

because the Ford family helped to build the auto industry then they have some kind of divine right to the Lions. That appears to be what this implies.

As someone who grew up in Saginaw, within an auto family, I could make all sorts of observations regarding just how well the Fords and others managed that industry. Don't know about your hometown, but mine is high and dry and I lay it at the doorstep of all those with such divine rights because they exercised complete control over production planning and decision making. Given conditions that so many of my friends and their families are facing right now, sorry, but no, I'm not about to canonize the Ford family, or Roger Smith, or any of those people.

Beyond that, however, throughout my lifetime - which coincides with the Ford family's ownership of the franchise - I've seen so many coaches and great players go to their graves attempting to move the team forward. Only conclusion I can come to is that there is a serious problem of organizational culture that goes back to the 60s, in spite of occasional heroic efforts by players such as Sanders (and so many other greats) and coaches along the way. This mess didn't begin with Matt Millen by any means.

for most of those 50 years. I'll let Martha and Jr make a few decisions first before I judge them. Blaming them for WCF's bad decisions seems unfair.

Besides, as a fan I have no other choice.

Billy was the one who convinced his dad to hire Millen.  When he first proposed it the old man didn't like the idea, so he waited a year, and then that year was so abysmal he ultimately agreed with Jr and started the Millen era.

So I am not so sure about Bill Jr's ability to find a good Head of Football guy.

Doesn't matter, the Ford family still owns the team. We will be having the same conversation 6 years from now. There are only three constants in life, death, taxes, and the lions being a complete laughingstock.

Oh Lions, will you ever stop torturing your fans? Giants fans know Coughlin is done, and that the GM has wrecked a once proud defense by refusing to draft linebackers at any point in the draft and whiffing on the defensive positions he prioritizes (Markus Kuhn? Why? WHY?) because of vague theories on draft position "value." But at least we have many memories of championships, great seasons, big plays.

All of the, "rearranging the chairs on the deck of Titanic," "Fire the Fords," "Same old Lions" are lame and tiresome. They are a lazy man's way of offering an opinion on something they know nothing about.

I am excited to see what Bill Jr. can do and a complete wipe of the management seems like a good start. I know it's cool to berate the Lions and the Fords, but here's hoping the next generation of one of America's greatest families can turn the Detroit Lions into a winner.

I see what you're saying, but until the Lions give you a reason to think things have changed, there's almost no reason to think they actually have changed.

It's same ol' Lions until they prove they're not.
