I don't know if I'd say Rudock hasn't done anything to hurt the team. He's had some bad TOs, bad decisions, and his inability to hit any deep pass is definitely a problem.

He might be the best QB option on the team, I'd agree with that. But he's still a liability at times, unfortunately.

It's not about Speight.  I trust the now 8 months of QB evaluation by Harbaugh that says Rudock is a better QB at this point than Speight.

If Rudock is healthy and can play, he should play.  He needs every minute in this system he can get before The Game.  He is still a "freshman" system-wise.

After the game, Speight said something to the effect of, "I told Jehu and Amara that I was going to throw to them wether they were open or not."

Isn't that kinda what Brian has been asking for?

We've had back to back weeks where the secondary has had some major busts. As Brian often notes, one more and it's a trend. I really hope we go back to looking like the defense of the first half of the season because otherwise PSU and even Indiana look a little scary. Not to mention OSU.

How has their OLine shaped up?

Our O against their D is a scary match-up, but if their OLine still looks as bad as it did earlier in the season, our DLine is going to literally eat Hackenberg alive. Like honest to god cannibalism right on the field. It's gong to be that SNL skit with the morning show when the teleprompter breaks.

Might be in for a M00PS game.

I'm not sure the PSU game will be at night. Neither the Michigan nor the PSU site have a time listed yet. Plus it's late November. I'm hoping for 12 or 330. I want the crowd to be as mellow as possible.

And honestly, I hope the weather is terrible. We can't really pass the ball anyway, and if it prevented Hack from going ham on us that would be nice. PSU does have a nice running game, but I'll take my chances.

While I was as happy as anyone to see that Speight could get it done, I honestly think the bigger problem on Saturday was our secondary (and our inability to put consistent pressure on Leidner). Now, I think our secondary can tighten up (it was clear that Leidner was having the luckiest day of his life), but I don't know that we'll be able to put consistent pressure on QBs without blitzing the hell out of them.

Now, Rutgers and Indiana have poor passing games, so that helps, but PSU has looked a bit stronger down the stretch here than earlier in the season, and a PSU team with momentum at Beaver Stadium makes me nervous.

is ranked in the 100s in most offensive rankings and still is after Saturday.  They're behind Oregon St and UNLV and everyone else we've played in FEI.  They were awful coming into this game.  There was the lucky tipped pass and Leidner threaded some impossibly small needles, but the UFR will be telling this week.  The defense did its part in making Minn look good in this one. I think the safeties and LBs are going to grade out pretty badly. And probably non-Lewis CBs. Hopefully, it was just a blip.

Yeah...I really want us to win this game by much more than that.

After that travesty last year, making Gary Nova look like Tom Brady, Darboh's catch WAS a catch and the sight of those Rutgers defenders dancing and prancing to the sideline throughout the night...I'd like a 70-7 type win.

A year of hearing Rutgers fans talk trash should NEVER happen. Run up the score on those guys.

I'll be in Berlin for the game.  I actually scheduled the outbound of an entire European trip to be on the ground for this game.  I know the merits of 12 vs 3:30 ET starts are controversial around here, but a 9:30 PM CET start is pretty late.  Where am I going to find a Hooters or Tilted Kilt in Berlin that'll stay open until 12:30--or later, if there's OT (please, God--no!)?

I know, I know:  #firstworldproblems

21 points? Do people that set the lines even watch Michigan? After seeing what Minnesota receivers did to our secondary, I am terrified of what Carroo will do. 24-12 Michigan.

played mostly very well against Minnesota.  Leidner completed less than 50% of his passes and just got lucky on 6 throws that that usually would be either incomplete or intercpeted.

I'll grant that Stribling letting his man get behind him on the throw that mout Minny on the 1 yard line was a mistake though.

Very good point! Lewis had nearly perfect coverage and Leidner threw dimes at the end. Clark had perfect coverage on a ball but because it was thrown horribly it was caught, Peppers dropped a pick six, and I'm pretty sure Thomas dropped a pick that ended up being a completion.

I'm sure Minnesota fans were saying this kind of thing about Liedner until Saturday.  Then he played out of his mind.

I'm still hoping that Rudock has one of those out-of-his mind games in him where he's feeling it like Spike and hitting threes from all over the court.  And I'm hoping that game is on November 28th.

"...mostly very well." = not good.

It's more than just DBs in coverage of course but we've given up 645 yards in passing the last two games.  Both QBs threw under 50% which sounds good, but each catch is averaging over 19 yards per play which doesn't sound good.   I hope we can tighten that up going forward.

Actually, this line is relatively close to what Sagarin would predict right now as the margin for this game (26.15 points in favor of Michigan), but I am still impressed that it is that large. That being said, however, I wonder how much this particular one might move - my guess would be that it won't move too much.

The line seems crazy but it is a home game, and so far this season teams have come in and gotten humbled in the Big House. I really hope Rudock gets healthy soon. That said, Speight passed the eyeball test Sat night. Kid has moxie. He is a much better athlete that I thought he was. I do not think we are in bad shape if Rudock isn't healthy. Speight may really surprise everyone. Running game gets going , bye week hangover is done ---31-3.

Harbaugh believes Rudock is the best QB we've got and "it's not close." Just because Rudock hasn't been amazing doesn't mean you go to an inferior option.

but having our offense and giving big points seems like a fool's play. Especially when our defense may be facing the league's best WR and seems certain to give up a few points. I think a score in the 31-14 range seems likely.

I hope Speight starts also. Give Rudock credit - he has tried his hardest & is a gamer ... but Speight can hit some downfield throws & open up our offense IMO.
