Drake Johnson is the #2 RB behind DeVeon Smith.

Royce Jenkins Stone is the starter at Buck (no surprise) no that Mario Ojemudia is out.

Everything else appears status quo

I don't think he looks bad and will definitely see the field still. He had the football away from his body all loose on one, the second looked like it got stripped with very little effort. No doubt Wheatley and the coaching staff will correct it. Hopefully it won't be a huge deal. Will be glad to see smith back out there. Losing Mario is going to suck, hopefully marshal can step up.

Green's meteoric rise after dropping a ton of weight should have been a red flag. It seems like conditioning will continue to plague him as maybe a lean 220-240 just isn't ever going to be a comfortable weight for him to maintain.

Ty Isaac is a bit of a head scratcher. He reminds me of HS players that haven't realized how big they actually are yet and haven't learned how to use that size and strength to their advantage.

They definitely got it wrong with De'veon / Drake vs Derrick Green / Ty Isaac. If you would have told me in 2013 that Derrick Green would be our 4th option at RB in 2015, I would have laughed hysterically. I'm going to venture out and say Karan Higdon passes Derrick and/or Ty next year.

I never understood it to begin with. I watched several of Green's high school games. He never stood out to me. As for Isaac, I think he just doesn't like contact which is bad for a running back. You can't see that in high school all the time especially with a guy his size who isn't going to get blasted like he will in college.

my impression of Isaac coming out of high school was that he wanted to be a speed back but bad a big back body. he shied away from contact and used his speed. my impression of Green was he ran hard and wasn't afraid of contact but he never broke tackles. Smith was my favorite RB of the three despite his obvious lack of speed.

Smith and Johnson are without a doubt the best 1-2 punch we have in the backfield. One is pure power and determination while the other is speedy and shifty. Drake seems to have once again gained confidence in his knee.

like a classic Denver Bronco from the Shanahan era RB. One cut and boom into the second level. That gif Brian highlighted in the writeup is a perfect example. No surprise he's 2nd string now that it looks like he's gaining confidence in the knee holding up.

Drake's looked better.  Probably showed the best vision of any back on the roster, and maybe the best speed.  Smith is definitely better as a number 1, he's a harder runner and gets awesome yards after contact, but I really like Drake's ability to recognize and get to holes besides what the play called for.

I am disappointed in and for Isaac.  Coach has been saying that all the RB's have been "running hungry" and asking for more touches.  Well, this was Ty's "big chance" to show Coach what he could do as the featured RB and he botched it something awful.

His one run was pretty sweet, but other times I see him running with a kind of loping style that is odd.  To my eye, he doesn't run with the same anger nor determination that we see from Smith and Drake.  I hope this changes as I think he's certainly got all the physcial tools to be elite.

personally i prefer Drake is the #1 considering his homerun capability.  he is also more valuable as a receiver.  imo, those things are more valuable in an otherwise sluggish offense.  that said, i like smith a lot in between the tackles.  i just hope their carries get closer to a 50/50 split.

Is blocking for your mediocre QB.

Being a recieving threat is great; but being able to get consistent yards and keep your starting QB from being knocked out of the game is far more important.

At least it is to this coach & team.

I'm fine with him being behind Smith and still easing his way back.
15-20 carries max is what I predict for Johnson.
20+ for Smith, Isaac and Green can split the other 10ish.
50+ rushes to bludgeon NW with power and then smother them with defense!

Not going to look too much into Isaac's one bad game, especially considering the weather was horrible. He is too talented to not bounce back, and is still the highest ceiling RB on the roster.

It seems to me that the one thing that we need to hope for is that Royce Jenkins-Stone can get in on some of the same opportunities for tackles for loss as well as sacks. Ojemudia had 6 TFL for 27 yards and 2 sacks for 20 yards in 5 games, so I'll be curious to see how this goes - that's rather a lot of production to replace.

The Drake news should surprise nobody who watched last season. He was our best runner by a mile. The guy misses a couple games early, and everybody forgets that.

Mods please delete if you feel this should be somewhere else.

I have two tickets for the NW game that I'm looking to sell if anyone is interested. Section 41, row 68. Added it to the Google sheet but I'm not sure how many people have found that recently.

The fighting on this board about who's the best back...sigh.

All the top spot means on this depth chart is "who gets the first shot." We haven't had a game all season where someone didn't have a shot to come in, take over, and earn more carries in that game.
