O.T: Cris Carter advises rookies to get a "fall guy" for crimes they commit.

Just seen Drew Hallett retweet this article. Too dumb to learn how to embed but in the article he said "Because all you guys aren’t going to do the right stuff. I need to teach to you how to get around all of this stuff too. If you have a crew, one of them fools need to know that they’re going to jail. I know a lot of you aren’t going to drink, i know a lot of you aren’t going to use drugs but still get yourself a fall guy”

What is more offensive is that he's clearly only talking to black players.

He brought Bridgewater from Miami up on stage acting like the guy can't wait to roll up and down South Beach drunk and high.  He didn't bring up Blake Bortles.

Yeah, I'm sure he would use words like "crew", "rolling on bankroll" and "homeboys" if he was talking to white players.

"Andrew Luck, lemme bring you up here, you from Stanford right?  I know you can't wait to roll around drunk and high with your homies on yo bankroll but when you get pulled over make sure some other fool in your crew goes to jail for it."

Riiiight.

Chris Borland was in attendance. He wrote about it before but didn't name Carter. I'm sure there were other white guys in the audience as well, but you do realize there are a lot of black dudes in the NFL, right? It's not like he picked Bridgewater because he was the one black guy there.

I am sure Cris has a good excuse as to why his Buckeye teams lost to Harbaugh and UM back in 1985 and 1986.  Probably the refs fault or he had an injury or some other obnoxious excuse.

Cris isn't sharing anything new. Carmelo Anthony got busted with weed at the airport, denied the bag and weed was his and blamed it on a dude in his posse. This was before legalization in CO but it'd never legal to have at the airport and Anthony straight up threw his buddy under the bus. Pretty sure Barry Bonds had a fall guy in case the HGH-steroid thing ever broke. It's just I think an 'unwritten thing' not something delivered at the rookie symposium right after the segment on not punching women in the face.

I remember when that happened with Carmelo and an article at the time was saying his buddy signed an affidavit saying it was his weed and he was responsible for it being in Carmelo's bag. Wonder how much signing that affidavit was worth or whether he got paid from Carmelo at all (aside from obligatory court costs) considering he had probably leeched off Carmelo long enough that it was just his turn amongst the entourage to take the fall. Being in an entourage has to come with some strings attached for situations like this.

Good to know that my initial impressions of Carter being a douchebag when watching his football commentary is confirmed from this rookie symposium.

How about: "Don't be the jackass who gets caught in the situation that he NEEDS a fall guy?".

so-called team.  They have no respect nationally ... except bye ESPN so thats legit.

Send your kids to Ohio to learn how to cheat and cover things up.  Nice.

While it might not be the nicest thing to say....if you're rich and supporting a bunch of ppl it would be smart to designate somebody to be the fall guy if you find yourself in a sticky situation.

He comes across as a guy who thinks he is always hip. He had an interview the other day with Giants WR. He was trying to pretend like he is 20. He just didn't grow up. He thinks he knows everything. I generally ignore him. HOF does not mean he is mature. He is just an immature HO Famer who happens to be very good at a skill. Speaking isn't one of them.

He's a hypocrite. I heard him on Mike and Mike a few weeks ago talking about how he learned to use his body/elbows/hands in illegal ways to get open when he couldn't shake a DB later in his playing career. Hmmm....cheating on the field....wonder how that impacts the "integrity of the game?" I'm not defending the deflation crap or Tom, just saying Chris' mouth opens and crap spills out based on his mood and personal allegiances but he tries to portray himself as objective.

Carter knows the lifestyle that a large portion of these guys live. It's good advice for the lifestyle they live.

He could advise them that now that they have some serious coin it's time to break away from the hood.  If the player wants to "give something back", then CC should have been advising them to help somebody else to break away from the hood.  CC does nobody any favors by advising them to remain in the hood with the caveat that they retain a fall guy.

Probably not how he wanted it to come out, but if I'm a player sitting there I'd rather hear real-life applications of the things I'm going to run into as a newly minted young millionaire than someone droning on about whatever else I'm sure they're forcing me to sit through...
