They threw more because they had Shea Patterson and we didn’t.

05/04/2018 - 5:57pm Humble.

“This is not a humble brag”: the opening line of every humble brag. But congratulations and go blue!

05/04/2018 - 1:25pm Alawhatnow?

Alawhatnow?

05/04/2018 - 10:38am the best outcome

The best outcome would be for the NCAA to threaten them with not allowing them to compete until they fix the AD, and then the school quickly complying so that no innocent student-athletes get punished for what the school did in the past.

05/04/2018 - 10:35am The power of the NCAA

Couldn't the NCAA say to the MSU athletic department, "Until you blow this up and start over with a serious intent to protect student athletes, we're not going to let you compete in revenue sports"? Doesn't the NCAA have a way to punish the AD, not just the gymnastics program and its athletes? Doesn't the school need NCAA approval to compete?

05/01/2018 - 8:11pm We are really good

I think we should be higher ranked but it’s hard to know because THERES NO VIDEO! Where is the practice video, coach? You’re killing me over here. I expect Full Submarine in August and then when we come out against ND everybody’s going to be like where did THAT team come from?

04/26/2018 - 7:21am Great arm.

Great arm.

04/21/2018 - 4:40pm W

Soft defense and Wimbush will definitely start at quarterback. Well that makes me feel good.

04/17/2018 - 12:17pm G'bye!

G'bye!

Edit: what's really needed, obviously, is someone close to him reaching out to help this guy. We are all broken in one way or another, but without the pressure that comes with the high stakes of this guy's life. I hope he finds a good path.

04/17/2018 - 11:18am you're

You're. Sorry you're stuck with me. It's you're, not your. First rule of running down someone else's education is to read your rant carefully and correct for junior high grammar errors. Just stop digging, click the little x up in the corner of your browser window, and move on to something else.

03/19/2018 - 10:47am You work out?

You work out?

03/07/2018 - 10:11am Please don't drink and drive

Just want to point out that the allowable blood alcohol level is 4 times as high in the US as in Sweden, where people don't drink and drive and they have a lot less death and destruction on the roads. There they just ask the scientists what's safe and do that; here we start there and then multiply by 4 as a concession to the food and beverage lobby. If you're driving, it's not actually safe to drink at all, no matter how practiced you are at it.

02/23/2018 - 10:08am Keurig

That thing wasn't totally busted. You just needed to keep pumping and keep pumping.

02/18/2018 - 1:20am Nope

You make even Utah unappealing.

02/02/2018 - 10:18am This really brought it home for me

Yes the real victims are the girls, not the fathers. But it’s hard for me to imagine being the 14-year-old gymnast and painfully easy to imagine being her father.

02/02/2018 - 10:15am Nah, they saw him standing up

Nah, they saw him standing up for them.

01/09/2018 - 10:16am Speed limits

Well the speed limits on highways are there for your safety and mine, because you’re less like to die or kill someone if your crash happens at 60 than at 80. Remember Science? Remember how we used to rely on it to make public policy that is rational and cost effective? We could effectively enforce the speed limit if we installed speed cameras at every mile, spent 100 times more on highway patrol, or shifted all our policing resources over to speed limit enforcement. Which do you prefer?

12/25/2017 - 6:24pm User name

Does not check out. Just win, your dudeness

12/25/2017 - 4:42pm 38-3

SC scores first. 28-3 M at half time. Peters Evans DPJ

12/25/2017 - 4:32pm Pay attention

What do we get if we win? What we get is that we win. That is all we ever play for. To win and not to lose. In a championship game, bowl game, no conference game. At practice, in class, at work. At trick or treating, at checkers, at cancer, at love. Just win.

12/21/2017 - 9:53am Is it still fun being a thug?

Oops

12/21/2017 - 9:50am Is it still fun being a thug?

I can see shoplifting in high school as just something stupid a kid might do. But in college, when you’re on the football team at Notre Dame, and walking around with a gun. That is some punk-ass behavior. Not someone who has bought into being a student athlete, responsible parent, valuable member of a community. And three guys doing it together sounds like it’s a game to them; how is that a funny game at that age and in that position? On the other hand, maybe these guys started off more broken than this even, and Kelly has already helped them get it together somewhat.

Nah. I would expect that you don’t get to bring that kind of shit with you to a place like Michigan or Notre Dame, and that after a few months in the football program you’re ready to move beyond games like that.

12/18/2017 - 11:08pm Timing

The film can be time stamped with the exact time of every frame, and the 3D positional data time stamped as well. For critical calls, replay can say exactly which frame of video the runner is down, and then you can use the rfid positioning system to precisely locate the ball at the same exact moment in time.

06/12/2017 - 1:54pm Congratulations!

Congratulations!

05/11/2017 - 11:02am Didn't get into Michigan

No big deal. A lot of people grow up cheering for Michigan but can't get admitted to the university. He wanted to go to college, went to MSU, graduated, congratulations, move on.

[Edit: or wanted to study something that Michigan doesn't offer, like "Beef Cattle Teaching and Research." Shouldn't have assumed he applied and didn't get in.]

04/11/2017 - 10:47pm Thanks

For clearing that up

03/30/2017 - 11:55pm Not done

Still not done hating penn state. I got so much left.

03/16/2017 - 12:14pm Academics a plus for football, minus for basketball

Also we use the quality of education and prestige of the degree in football recruiting. That's a harder sell when the kid has no intention of getting a degree, which I guess is more common among top basketball recruits. It might be more of a negative because they have to work hard to qualify academically with no longterm benefit.

03/05/2017 - 1:10pm That's the spot

Right ... there

02/24/2017 - 9:14pm Lingering doubt

"Linger" proves caveman didn't write it himself, but the redundancy of "countless numbers" confirms the author did go to MSU.

02/20/2017 - 7:30pm That makes me really proud to

That makes me really proud to be a Michigan grad and football fan.

02/19/2017 - 2:38pm +1

Nice recovery.

Seriously though, vaccines don't cause autism.

02/17/2017 - 5:20pm Update?

Can anyone tell me what the weather will be like in Chicago this weekend?

02/15/2017 - 10:31am the long-long game

the long-long game would be Thompson-Robinson and Peoples-Jones hooking up for real ew and having a lovechild that can complete a fly route TO HIMSELF by the name of ... Donovan Thompson-Robinson-Peoples-Jones Junior

02/12/2017 - 2:18pm Content with ignorance?

I am about to try to make money having a brief conversation several times with different professionals about a subject I know nothing about using terminology I don't even know how to pronounce. I can
A) proceed with the phone calls, or
B) spend 5 min on the Internet, then make the calls.
The reason this might say something about how educated you are is: are you trained to instinctively research what you don't know, or just to be content with ignorance?

02/06/2017 - 10:30pm Recruiting

I'd like to see him join Harbaugh for three or four in-home recruiting visits a year,'especially for qb prospects.

02/06/2017 - 10:22pm That's why

You'll never achieve anything great: you're lazy and you can't even imagine being motivated by anything other than money.

02/06/2017 - 9:08pm What's the point

Of your life?

02/05/2017 - 1:44pm Gholston

Thanks, I'm glad to finally let go of thinking that guy was a thug.

02/05/2017 - 1:38pm Iowa game

Am I the only one who thought the election results might have adversely affected our team for the Iowa game? Everyone I know was completely despondent, and mixing in people who supported trump would have caused a lot of conflict that week. I think the national anthem demonstrations from earlier show that student athletes at Michigan can be both totally commited to the football program and engaged int the world around them. Regardless of how you voted, the whole thing was divisive, and divisive undermines team.

01/27/2017 - 1:06am Pics

Pics?

01/23/2017 - 10:57am Good is the enemy of better

The reason to try to make the site a little better every chance you get, and to never stop looking for ways to make it better, is not that you're afraid of being second best; it's because you want to see how great you can be. What would Harbaugh do?

01/13/2017 - 12:13pm just curious

I don't need to know what's going on in this kid's personal life, but I am curious: what are some examples of personal issues that don't involve getting in trouble but make you want to go to a different school instead of returning to a starting job on the national championship team in a great university town? Just a couple of possibilities please. Asking for a friend.

01/07/2017 - 10:24pm Because it's hard to come to

11/13/2016 - 3:16am Kirk Ferentz for president

Stubborn, backward ignorance defeats progressive sophistication again. This week just brought out the worst in us.

All kinds of awesome

11/10/2016 - 8:22pm Star

I think the star should mean what you as an expert can reasonably expect of the player in the upcoming game. You can take the star away from Speight if he underperforms at Iowa, but he should be expected to play like a star again on Saturday. "Abundnace of caution" sounds too emotional and not scientific enough: it's about the player, not our anxiety or hope or whatever. Plus more stars is better.
