Came close to drawing that charge down the stretch too. He left it all out there today.

Michigan "helped" Minnesota by going 4-18 from behind the arc. The "help" Minny gave was more than evened out. Michigan dug deep to pull this one out. This is yet another step in the growth of a young team still trying to find their roles.
JB is being quite clever using the 1-3-1 only when he needs it and only in the second half. I wish the announcing crew hadn't pointed that out, but I am guessing opposing coaches already figured out the pattern anyway.

if Zak manages to find his touch, this will be a top 25 team. I don't see any reason why he can't.

in his defense it was listed as 10 at the time. Refs changed it to 9 after reviewing a DWalt "2 pointer" that was actually a three

Significant accomplishment, but perhaps easier than you think ...
Kansas has had apparently amazing recruiting for 20+ years and they've played in a historically mediocre conference. There aren't any other teams that are *regular* threats to make deep NCAA tourney runs. What you have instead are few outlier years (Oklahoma in the late '80s, Texas about ten years ago, Baylor recently ...)
With the players it gets, Kansas shouldn't lose many games in that conference.

Guess leaving the tuxedos at home did the trick.

Good win for this team. Overcame a poor shooting day to scrap together a win. Nice Job boys!! That Doyle throw down at the end deserves some love! Woooooooo!

Now a trip to Columbus to play the biggest rival, in front of their crowd, possibly coming off a National Championship win in football (please God no) the previous evening. Buckle up and bring it, gentlemen! GO BLUE!!!

MSU is our biggest basketball rival, IMO.
January 10th, 2015 at 3:22 PM ^
I agree it's not anything close to football, but I still think beating OSU in basketball is more important than beating most other B1G teams.
January 10th, 2015 at 3:40 PM ^
Is there a sport other than football where MSU isn't the biggest rival? Basketball and hockey are easily MSU, but there are plenty of others I don't know as well.
January 10th, 2015 at 4:09 PM ^
I guess to me OSU feels more like a genuine rivalry in all things, whereas State feels like it wouldn't be as big if not driven by their unending insecurity and constant need to compare everything they do to Michigan. Maybe I'm off the mark.
January 10th, 2015 at 4:13 PM ^
OSU is just not very good at hockey and they're not as good as State at basketball. I'm also pretty sure that with a few exceptions (like softball) MSU is the biggest competition for recruits in non-football sports.

osu >>> msu in basketball. but i agree msu is our bigger rival in all things except football.

sloppy play and poor shooting will lead to NIT at best this year. I am thinking next year we will be alot better due to player development and maturity

I'm not sure squeaking out a win against a bad Minnesota team means were "finally starting to find it on offense." Good win though.

True. But this isn't our first year of basketball under Beilein. I was making a more general point.

We looked really good for the first 15 minutes of the second half against Villanova, when we built that 8-point lead, only to let it slip away.

Disagree. Redshirting didn't do shit for Donnal. Have em learn the pace of the game by playing.
