Brandon on e-mails: "I don't read blogs so I think it's nonsense"

I think he (and his staff) could learn something from Brian's UFRs.

I give the writer a lot of credit, it really pissed off Dave Brandon that he asked him about this at an awards ceremony that he was getting an award at. That's probably how he got such a nasty response.
October 29th, 2014 at 12:40 AM ^
It never seems to be great timing for DB to receive criticism.
Oh and you mean a ceremony that the Athletic Department was getting an award at that he somehow made all about himself?

Between the post-concussion DB Disdain and Snark Tour, and this comment, there is no more need to FOIA the emails. David Brandon is on public record as a class 1 Asshat. He just tightened the noose more with that comment.
October 28th, 2014 at 11:36 PM ^
You know, I had a lot of problems with Brandon coming into this year ("No! BostonWolverine! Really? I completely disagree!" I hear you...).
But even if I didn't, the way that he has absolutely botched every single media interaction in the last 2 months is enough for me to want him out the door.
Honestly, more than anything, it's pure hubris. He's a shitty athletic director, and he was a shitty CEO.
But really, above everything else, he's just a son of a bitch.
October 28th, 2014 at 11:36 PM ^
David Brandon soooo wants this to go away. He is using a typical technique: when he hears something he doesn't want to hear, he belittles the source. At this point, the only question is whether he will collect his golden parachute or not. I really hope ESPN hammers Michigan with FOIA requests and it turns out that he has erased a bunch of emails he was required by law to keep.
I would love to see David Brandon shuffle away from Michigan with his head down. He is in severe need of a large dose of humility.

Gee, sorry about this whole misunderstanding Dave. Let's just move on.
October 28th, 2014 at 11:37 PM ^
He calls it nonsense, but didn't deny anything. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, you arrogant MOFO.
October 28th, 2014 at 11:56 PM ^
When you don't wanna tell the truth, you try to deflect the question.
Schlissel will have to fire him, he's not going away on his own.
October 28th, 2014 at 11:37 PM ^
That response makes no sense. You don't read blogs? What does that have to do with whether the report is true or false?
October 28th, 2014 at 11:56 PM ^
"If I don't see something, then it doesn't exist." It's a form of solipsism.
He's been surrounded by corporate brown-nosers and asskissers for so long that he's lost the ability to deal with criticism like an adult.
Assuming he ever had that ability in the first place, that is.
October 29th, 2014 at 12:01 AM ^
Brb I need to look up solipsism.
EDIT: Indeed.

"If I don't see something, then it doesn't exist."
"wrap it [a towel] round your head to ... avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-bogglingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you)"

This thread has turned into a posbang. Fantastic. Nothing unifies the board like some Brandon hatred.
October 29th, 2014 at 9:51 AM ^
Just wait til he's actually fired. Most epic posbang ever.
October 29th, 2014 at 1:03 AM ^
This appears to be (one of) the non-sequitur response(s), which a poster in another thread mentioned expecting. Don sounds spot-on with the solipsism.

I've had multiple conversations with Dave Brandon. He has talked about @mgoblog before. So...yeah.

October 28th, 2014 at 11:41 PM ^
I was shocked reading that when I found he was getting an award for something other than being named "World Class Douchebag 2014"

I want can't wait to hear the stories of DB after he leaves Michigan similar to when a coach gets fired or when a "bad guy" player (i.e. percy harvin) gets traded. I am sure some of the supporters will change their tune and dish out some good stuff.
Brian may have to start a Main Page series: "Douchey DB Story of the Week"
October 29th, 2014 at 12:01 AM ^
I didn't even think of this. We're gonna be knee deep in "Brandon was a big ol' SOB" stories until our children have children in college.
October 29th, 2014 at 11:24 AM ^
In Fourth and Long he had some nice write-ups from former employees in the athletic department that were treated like shit from the transition from Martin to DB.
October 28th, 2014 at 11:45 PM ^
That sounds like something he would say.
When Brandon was the CEO of Valassis in the 90's he said the the internet was just a fad.
