Cincinnati is over 24%. Wash St. at 20%. So I wouldn't read too much into the normal distribution probability.

It's bigger than athletics. Predators go where they can get access and through some combination of people not wanting to assume the worst of people they know and being afraid of the repercussions, people tend to cover things up or not speak out far more often than most people would have guessed.

05/22/2018 - 12:21pm Oh crap!

Fine. I'll follow orders. But consider sending a contingent west before this game is over. I hate when people use THE TEAM THE TEAM THE TEAM on me.

Absolutely. I won't attack allies.

05/22/2018 - 10:38am Champions of the West

I was originally taking orders as requested, but got busy with real life for a bit and just started logging on and doing my own thing. Pretty sure I'm not doing what I'm supposed to be doing, but the way this game is currently designed, I'm skeptical of the role of strategy anyway. So here's what I'm doing :HEADING WEST. I want to make Champions of the West happen. Don't know how sucessful I'll be, but I'm a 3-time MVP in this game, so the RNG force is with me.

Reactions welcome. I'll change course if I get downvoted heavily.

If you've been wiped off the map, you can choose between chaos or helping the team that occupies your home turf, and you can re-choose every day. Chaos is also tweaked so it is less powerful than it would be if they went with straight numbers. The makers of the game are tweaking things as they go to try to keep chaos interesting, cover up for things they didn't anticipate, and not piss off as many people as possible.

Agreed. No online anonymous community can be expected to be perfect, but I know of no better college football board for all teams.

05/04/2018 - 11:04am FYI, we had previously taken

FYI, we had previously taken East Lansing. Last night OSU took East Lansing from us. By the rules of the game, as long as OSU occupies East Lansing, MSU players can join their effort. So this next turn may be tough.

You do need to select your Michigan flair.

01/31/2018 - 3:39pm They were also hired by UVA

They were also hired by UVA when Rolling Stone wrote that article that made news.

01/31/2018 - 2:52pm Pepper Hamilton

Another thing I think belongs on the radar as we look inward is the fact that we hired Pepper Hamilton back in 2016. Other Title IX clients include MSU and Baylor. (For all I know, other clients include everyone.) It's smoke, not fire, but it could be that they are advising clients to delay FOIAs, redact, and avoid trandparency.

11/27/2017 - 8:07pm There isn't much written

There isn't much written about the religion of Michigan Football, but it is different from Catholicism. (How different probably depends a little on whether you're asking Harbaugh and Schembechler or Yost.) What we do know from Ufer is that Saturday is the Holy Day of Obligation and we know from Schembechler that Ufer went to Football Valhallah.

11/27/2017 - 4:24pm I think you're thinking of

I think you're thinking of indulgences. I get that football is a religion and all that, but I don't recall Bob Ufer mentioning indungences.

Also a fair point.  It's kind of tough to talk about this without speaking in absolutes and saying things you don't mean.

08/15/2017 - 2:57pm I see that. But there's

I see that. But there's something to be said about timing and how funny the joke is. "Ha. Ha. They make the same pathetic excuses as Spartans." is a) not that funny, and b) not completely clear that we aren't making fun of the Spartans by comparing them to Nazis when we often make fun of Spartans. There's probably a way to make this comparison of pathetic reactions on the blog with some context, but just a side-by-side pair of images on twitter doesn't do it.

08/15/2017 - 2:46pm The problem isn't, as I think

The problem isn't, as I think Brian is suggesting in the twitter conversation, that Nazis are so bad, we shouldn't compare them to Spartans. It's that one of those Nazis just killed someone, and so while MSU going 3-9 is funny, the Nazis are not something we should laugh about right now...or at least if you're going to say something funny about them, it had better be good and crystal clear what you are saying.

05/03/2017 - 3:12pm Gameboy misses the point.

Gameboy misses the point. Technology is allowing more accurate metering of TV watching. You can't argue so easily that you deserve $X per subscriber when there's better data about how many people are actually watching. Getting on platforms is now easier, but you won't automatically get paid for it anymore unless people actually watch. The proof is in ESPN's cuts.

11/13/2016 - 5:41am The late game clock

The late game clock management was, I think, an effort to give the D as much rest as possible. They were huffing and puffing early in the 3rd quarter.

11/04/2016 - 1:30pm If you could boil production

If you could boil production per opportunity for a position down to one number and then scale that number to what fraction of that role a player plays, I feel like it might be fair. Kick returner needs to be weighted somehow.

Making up numbers here, if Lamar Jackson produces 1.6 times the expected points of an average QB and he has 100% of the opportunities a QB should have you've got 1.6*1=1.6.

If another player, saves 1.6 time the points a linebacker saves and produces 1.5 times what a QB produces, but only has 5% of the opportunities a fulltime QB would have, you've got 1.6*1+1.5*.05=1.675.

For Peppers, you have a lot of terms to add up, but most of them are multiplied by some small number.

Tough to argue how many points a defender saves (as pointed out), so that's not the stat you go with, but at least start will scaling stats to the average stats for that position.

11/04/2016 - 11:17am Adding texture to a helmet is

Adding texture to a helmet is a horrible idea from a CTE standpoint. The torque associated with glancing blows (which helmets aren't as good at mitigating) would increase.

“But do let me reiterate the spirit of Michigan. It is based upon a deathless loyalty to Michigan and all her ways; an enthusiasm that makes it second nature for Michigan men to spread the gospel of their university to the world’s distant outposts; a conviction that nowhere is there a better university, in any way, than this Michigan of ours.” -Fielding H.
