CFB Week Three Schedule - is there anything beside Michigan worth watching?

Submitted by Amazinblu on September 13th, 2023 at 5:04 PM

Week three of the season is upon us and this week's schedule may actually be less compelling than the firs two weeks.   Who will you be watching / following?   Any games of particular interest?   Anything you're looking forward to seeing?

There are a number of B1G vs ACC games on the schedule - which is interesting.

Michigan hosts Bowling Green for a 7:30 pm kickoff on BTN

Tennessee travels to Florida - it could be the Joe Milton show

Minnesota travels to North Carolina - how far can the boat be rowed?

Ohio State hosts Western Kentucky before their matchup against ND next weekend

Bama travels to USF

Penn State goes to Illinois

Washington travels to East Lansing for Dantonio's return to the staff

Colorado and Coach Prime face Colorado State and the Buffs should move to 3-0 on the season.

Northern Illinois plays at Nebraska as the Huskers try to avoid an 0-3 start for Ruhle

Any other games of interest?

All jokes aside, this game *might* be more intriguing than people think.  Tennessee has lost 9 straight at the Swamp and they're coming off a surprising ho-hum 30-13 win over Austin Peay.  I know the Gators looked awful against Utah but with Milton's ability to throw 30 yards over the receivers and Florida's ability to pull some surprising wins at home, even when they're not good, I think this could be a game.  If there's any team Florida can pull a rabbit out of their hat against, it's the Vols.

CSU actually had last week off due to an early bye week (thank God) so you might be referring to their week 1 game vs Wash St? If so, their starting QB, who started last year’s opener vs Mich, was replaced 1/2 way through the 3rd Q for the backup QB who actually played decently in what was likely garbage time minutes from WSU’s 2nd string.

As much as I’d love to see my Rammies beat CU and Coach Slime, I could see this one getting away from CSU in the 2nd half in Boulder. We’ll see.

Lots to root for (YMMV):

Michigan v Bowling Green - go blue

Tennessee @ Florida  - go meteor

Minnesota @ North Carolina - NC won't applaud when PJ enters the stadium. No idea.

Ohio State v Western Kentucky - It would be so funny...

Bama @ USF - go Alabama's opponent (just like every other week)

Penn State @ Illinois - Go Bert

Washington @ tire fire staee - Huskies by 100

Colorado vs. Colorado State - Bison over goats.

Northern Illinois @ Nebraska  - go other Huskies

South Carolina-Georgia may be of some interest early on, but that's really only if Georgia allows it to be interesting. South Carolina is a tough team to figure out, as they have the ability to play way over their head, and they've given Georgia issues in recent years. Will probably be over by halftime, but South Carolina has the ability to at least make it interesting for a half.

Washington will be interesting if for no other reason than to see how many yards they're able to throw on MSU. Dantonio might be on the sideline, but his fabled "No Fly Zone" ain't gonna be there with him.

OSU will almost certainly beat WKU comfortably, but I'd be curious to see how OSU's defense plays. WKU historically has a very good, high flying offense that puts up points, so if they can put up points on OSU, it may not bode well for their trip to South Bend next week. I don't see this game being particularly close, but if its something like a 45-24 or 45-28 affair, I'd definitely be concerned going forward.

CSU is going to get Big Daddy Cane'd by Coach Prime and the Buffs. What not to do with a team like that: talk trash. You just gave up 500 yards and 50 pts to PacTwo Wazzou at home... Perhaps you can catch them napping. Say nice things about the rivalry and talk about the great state of Colorado... Nope. Instead you tell Prime his momma ain't raised him right... Now you have their attention. No one is channeling DISRESPEKT like Prime and the Buffs. Not even MSU with Antonio Banderas back in the associate acting assistant coach in waiting booth.
